Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Takes loss in pitcher's duel
DeGrom (2-1) took the loss Tuesday against the Yankees, allowing one run on three hits while striking out five over six innings.
DeGrom surrendered an RBI double to Cody Bellinger in the first inning before settling in and dominating the Yankees' lineup. The right-hander went on to retire 16 of the next 18 batters he faced before his exit, but he ultimately took the loss due to Cam Schlittler's performance on the other side, as Schlittler held Texas scoreless over six innings. DeGrom continues to pitch at an elite level, allowing just four runs across his last five starts while posting a 33:7 K:BB over that span. The 37-year-old now owns a 2.01 ERA and 0.96 WHIP across 31.1 innings this season, and as long as he stays healthy -- something fantasy managers are closely watching after years of uncertainty -- deGrom remains one of the most dominant arms in the league. He's slated for a rematch with New York in his next scheduled start.

Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Fans 10 in win Thursday
DeGrom (2-0) earned the victory over Pittsburgh on Thursday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out 10 batters over 5.2 innings.
DeGrom dominated for most of his outing, racking up 20 whiffs and a season-high 10 punchouts. The only blemish on his line was an Oneil Cruz solo homer in the fifth inning. Fantasy managers who deployed deGrom will likely be celebrating this performance, though there is minor disappointment in the fact that he was pulled one out shy of a quality start despite having thrown a modest 89 pitches. Texas seems hesitant to allow the veteran hurler to push his pitch count too high -- he's topped out at 93 pitches this season and has thrown less than 80 in two of his five starts -- but deGrom has nonetheless been excellent to begin the campaign, posting a 2.13 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 35:7 K:BB through 25.1 innings.

Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Pitch count gets up early
DeGrom allowed four hits and two walks while striking out three over four scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Friday.
While he pitched well, the Mariners were able to run deGrom's pitch count up early, as he exited with 88 pitches (57 strikes) in his four frames. This was his shortest outing of the season and also included a season low for strikeouts, but it was his first scoreless start of the year. The veteran right-hander has maintained a 2.29 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB through 19.2 innings this season. DeGrom is projected to make his next start at home versus the Pirates.

deGrom (1-0) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over six innings against the Dodgers. He struck out nine.
After dealing with right knee discomfort following his previous start, deGrom showed no signs of being affected and looked strong Sunday, striking out nine while largely holding the Dodgers' offense at bay, aside from a leadoff homer by Shohei Ohtani, in a winning effort. Through three starts this season, the numbers align with the dominance expected from deGrom, as he owns a 2.87 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 22 strikeouts across 15.2 innings.

Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Planning to make next start

Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Locked in to start Sunday
The Rangers list deGrom (knee) as their probable starter for Sunday's game against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Earlier Wednesday, deGrom relayed that he was already feeling much better, after he had experienced discomfort in his right knee before and during his most recent start in Monday's 2-1 win over the Mariners. The Rangers seemingly concur with deGrom's self-assessment, and barring a setback during his between-starts bullpen session, he'll receive the green light to take the hill on five days' rest during the series finale at Dodger Stadium. Through his first two outings this season, deGrom has submitted a 3.72 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 13:1 K:BB in 9.2 innings.

Rangers' Jacob deGrom: No structural damage
MRI results on deGrom's right knee came back negative Tuesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
DeGrom left his start Monday after feeling tenderness in his right knee, but testing has determined that he didn't suffer any structural damage and isn't facing an extended absence. The Rangers will have him throw a bullpen session in the next couple of days to see how he feels, but he's still expected to make his next start, which is lined up to come against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

The right-hander felt something in the knee prior to Monday's start against the Mariners and was lifted after giving up one run over five frames when he experienced some tenderness. DeGrom downplayed the injury after the contest, but the team was apparently concerned enough to send him for medical imaging. Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Fans seven in season debut
DeGrom allowed three earned runs on six hits and no walks while striking out seven batters across 4.2 innings during Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Orioles. He did not factor into the decision.
DeGrom allowed just three batters to reach base through the first four innings, though one of them was Pete Alonso, who put the O's on the scoreboard with a leadoff homer in the fourth. A defensive miscue from Wyatt Langford in the fifth allowed Baltimore to tally two more runs against deGrom, causing the veteran righty to leave Tuesday's contest after 79 pitches with the score knotted at three apiece. He's lined up to make his next start at home against the Mariners and may be allowed to pitch a bit deeper into that contest, at which point he'll be further removed from the neck issues that delayed his debut.

DeGrom (neck) has been cleared to start Tuesday's game in Baltimore.
DeGrom had to be scratched from his first scheduled start of the season Saturday in Philadelphia due to neck stiffness, but he's improved enough in the days since then to take the ball Tuesday. With deGrom ready to go, Jacob Latz -- who tossed four scoreless frames in a spot start in deGrom's stead versus the Phillies -- will head back to the bullpen.
