Ynoa (hand) made the third start of his rehab assignment Wednesday with Triple-A Gwinnett, striking out seven over 4.2 innings while giving up three runs on four hits and four walks.

Ynoa probably wasn't as sharp Wednesday as Atlanta hoped, but after building up to 83 pitches in the rehab outing, he should receive the green light to make his next start in the big leagues. Expect Atlanta to activate him from the 60-day injured list and insert him into the rotation at some point during next week's series in Miami. If manager Brian Snitker doesn't elect to expand his rotation to six men, Touki Toussaint or Kyle Muller would be the most likely candidates to head to the bullpen or to Triple-A Gwinnett to clear a spot for Ynoa.

Eflin (knee) went through another bullpen session Thursday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Eflin threw 38 pitches Thursday, just three days after his previous session Monday. He didn't feel good after his sessions back in late July but feels better now, though his exact return date remains unclear.

Kelly dropped to 7-9 after giving up five runs on 11 hits and one walk while striking out three over five innings Wednesday in the Diamondbacks' 7-2 loss in San Francisco.

The 12 baserunners Kelly allowed established a season high and represented a dramatic departure from his previous matchup with this same Giants team at home on Aug. 5, when he tossed eight shutout frames. Even with Wednesday's ugly start included, Kelly has still churned out a pristine 2.95 ERA and 1.08 WHIP while going 5-2 over his last 10 outings. Those strong ratios will continue to make Kelly worth rostering in the majority of formats, though he's less appealing for fantasy managers trying to make up ground in strikeouts. Kelly's 19.8 percent strikeout rate on the season ranks him 35th among the 50 qualified MLB starters.

Gausman (11-5) allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and four walks with five strikeouts in five innings, earning the win over Arizona on Wednesday.

The right-hander has won consecutive starts over Arizona, although he walked four or more batters for the fourth time in 23 starts Wednesday. Gausman has a 2.29 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 162:43 K:BB through 137.1 innings this season. He tentatively lines up for another home start versus the Mets next week.

Hill covered three innings and gave up three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four in Tuesday's 8-7 win over the Nationals, a game New York and Washington resumed Wednesday.

Fantasy managers who kept Hill active this week were dealt a tough hand when Tuesday's series opener versus Washington was suspended in the second inning due to inclement weather. Rather than having Hill start the game originally scheduled for Wednesday -- which was later postponed to Thursday -- the Mets turned to him to take the hill for the resumption of Tuesday's contest. Hill was already facing an uphill battle to pick up the win due to the game resuming with the Mets trailing 3-1, and though New York was able to overcome a pair of three-run deficits Wednesday, the team didn't take the lead until after Hill departed the contest. The veteran southpaw has largely underwhelmed since being traded to the Mets on July 23, posting a 5.00 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 18 innings across four outings.

DeGrom (elbow) will undergo another MRI in the coming days, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

DeGrom's second MRI has been expected after he was shut down at the end of July due to right forearm inflammation. If the exam comes back clean, the right-hander will restart a throwing program, and a better timetable for his return would come into focus based on how he feels after throwing. The timing of deGrom's next step depends on the results of the MRI, but he appears close to resuming baseball activities.

Carrasco was charged with four earned runs on four hits and a walk over one inning in his start Tuesday against the Nationals, a game in which the Mets won, 8-7, after the suspended contest was resumed Wednesday.

Even if inclement weather Tuesday hadn't cut Carrasco's start short, he likely wouldn't have been asked to work much longer after needing 33 pitches to record the game's first three outs. He was at least spared his first loss of the season, as the Mets roared back from a three-run deficit to claim a comeback victory. Carrasco tentatively lines up to make his next start Sunday at home versus the Dodgers.

Gibson (8-4) took the loss Wednesday, coughing up six runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks over 4.1 innings as the Phillies fell 8-2 to the Dodgers. He struck out three.

Originally scheduled to get the start Wednesday, Gibson instead found himself used as a primary pitcher when manager Joe Girardi decided to hold him back due to the threat of bad weather, and he didn't enter the contest until after a 57-minute rain delay prior to the third inning. The ploy backfired when the right-hander gave up the first runs of the game in the top of the fourth, putting the Phillies in a hole they couldn't climb out of. Gibson has been a steadying force on the staff since being picked up at the trade deadline, posting a 3.18 ERA over his first three outings for Philly, but his 1.41 WHIP and 11:9 K:BB through 17 innings are worrying.

Burnes (7-4) earned the win over the Cubs on Wednesday, pitching eight scoreless innings during which he allowed four hits and no walks while striking out 15.

The 2021 season has been a coming out campaign for Burnes, and his ascension to the ranks of MLB's elite starters hit its high point Wednesday when the right-hander notched a career-high 15 punchouts. Even more remarkably, Burnes at one point struck out 10 straight batters -- all on swinging strikes -- to tie a major-league record. Altogether, he induced a whopping 30 swings-and-misses, the second most of any pitcher in a single game this season. With the spectacular outing, Burnes now holds a 2.23 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 172:21 K:BB across 121 innings. He'll look to continue building his Cy Young case when he faces St. Louis on the road next week.

Toussaint hurled five innings against Cincinnati on Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five. He did not factor in the decision.

The right-hander breezed through five scoreless frames, but he struggled in the sixth, giving up a two-run homer to Joey Votto and exiting the contest when Mike Moustakas followed with a single. Though he was in line to win upon his departure, the Reds tallied three runs between the eighth and ninth innings to send the game into extra frames and remove Toussaint from a decision. Toussaint's role in the rotation moving forward is uncertain given the imminent return of Huascar Ynoa (hand), though the Braves could opt to go to a six-man rotation to allow both hurlers to keep a starting role.
