Gray has been shut down from throwing due to a shoulder impingement, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

The 23-year-old was scratched from his start for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, and he'll now be shut down due to the shoulder issue. Gray likely will be sidelined into June since he'll need to build his arm back up once he resumes a throwing program.

Gray (4-3) allowed four runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks while striking out six in 5.2 innings to take the loss in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader versus San Diego.

Gray was effective through five innings, but an error and two walks loaded the bases in the sixth. Robert Stephenson relieved Gray and allowed a grand slam to Victor Caratini, leaving Gray with his third loss in eight starts. The right-hander has pitched fairly well so far with a 2.93 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 44:19 K:BB in 46 innings this season. His next start is tentatively scheduled as a rematch in San Diego next week.

Gallen (elbow) produced "encouraging" early test results Wednesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Early indications by manager Tory Lovullo suggested that the UCL was the location of Gallen's elbow issue, a cause for concern with any pitcher, but especially an ace of Gallen's caliber. Further reports will reveal more about the righty's elbow and how much time he might miss. For now, he's on the 10-day DL and won't be starting for the Diamondbacks at least the next couple of times through the rotation.

Darvish allowed an unearned run on two hits and a walk with one strikeout in a no-decision versus Colorado on Wednesday.

Darvish needed 76 pitches (48 strikes) to get through four innings before Emilio Pagan relieved him to start the fifth. It was the shortest of Darvish's eight starts this season. The 34-year-old has allowed two or fewer runs in his last seven outings, pitching to a 2.08 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 59:13 K:BB across 47.2 innings overall. He lines up for a rematch with Colorado next week.

Davies allowed a run on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 5.1 innings versus Cleveland on Wednesday. He did not factor in the decision.

The only run against Davies came in the sixth inning on an Amed Rosario RBI double. The 28-year-old Davies had an inconsistent start to the season, but he's allowed just three runs (two earned) in 16.1 innings across his last three starts. The right-hander has a 5.60 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 22:21 K:BB in 35.1 innings overall. He's projected to face Washington next week.

Gallen was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a sprained right elbow.

The move comes just hours before Gallen's scheduled start against the Marlins. Given the nature of the injury to his throwing arm, a minimum IL stay seems unlikely for Gallen. The team is calling it a "minor" sprain of one section of his UCL and he will be reassessed in a couple weeks. The righty has endured a couple tough outings in 2021, but overall through five starts he boasts a 3.04 ERA with 32 strikeouts. Matt Peacock will start in his place on short notice.

Burnes, who will be activated from the COVID-19 injured list to start Thursday's game against the Cardinals, confirmed that he was shut down as a result of a positive test for the coronavirus, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Burnes noted that he was unsure how he contracted the virus, but since he was asymptomatic throughout his quarantine period, he's optimistic he'll be able to pick up where he left off prior to landing on the IL. Because he didn't exhibit symptoms of the virus, Burnes was cleared to work out and throw on his own while in quarantine. The Brewers could still look to limit his workload to some extent Thursday, but Burnes should be in line for a relatively normal start as he returns to action for the first time since April 26.

Gray gave up one run on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings Wednesday at Pittsburgh. He had five strikeouts and didn't factor in the decision.

The 31-year-old surrendered a season-high seven hits, but he was able to limit the damage to a single run since none went for extra bases. Gray has a 3.55 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 36:12 K:BB through 25.1 innings (five starts) in 2021.

Soroka is scheduled to undergo an exploratory procedure on his inflamed right Achilles' next week after he experienced renewed discomfort during his recent workouts, 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.

Soroka will head to Green Bay, Wis. to have the procedure, presumably under the supervision of renowned foot/ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson. Since Soroka's impending surgery is an exploratory one rather than one designed to repair his tendon, he can't be ruled out for the season, but the news is still undoubtedly a negative development. Expect a clearer recovery timeline for Soroka's return to emerge once surgery is completed, but at the very least, he'll likely remain shut down for at least a few weeks before he restarts a throwing program.

Walker (3-1) earned the win Wednesday versus the Orioles after allowing one run on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks over seven innings.

The 28-year-old blanked Baltimore through six frames, but the Orioles scratched across a run on a walk, a single and a groundout during the seventh inning. Walker has won three of his past four starts and given up only five earned runs across 27 innings during that stretch.
