  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Phillies' Zack Wheeler: Won't start Monday

Wheeler (finger) won't start Monday's game against the Marlins, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.

The team originally hoped the right-hander would be able to take the mound Monday after being scratched from Friday's scheduled start due to the nail issue on his right middle finger, but he'll need more time to be game ready. Wheeler played catch Saturday, and manager Joe Girardi said the team anticipates him being able to take the mound sometime during the upcoming three-game series against the Mets, which begins Tuesday.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Reds' Wade Miley: No specific return date

Miley (shoulder) has no specific return date after feeling soreness Thursday following a side throwing session, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Time is starting to run out on the season, but to that point, manager David Bell still expects Miley to pitch again this year. "Just some continued muscle soreness," Bell said. "Nothing overly concerning or anything that's going to knock him out for the year or anything like that. But we did need to back him off on his throwing, and really no timetable to get him back into the game, unfortunately."

  • Kwang Hyun Kim SP | STL

Cardinals' Kwang-Hyun Kim: Could be back Monday

Kim (chest) completed a "really good side [session]" Friday with no issues and appears on track to start in Monday's doubleheader against the Brewers, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Kim is likely still awaiting official clearance as he's taking a blood thinner that could pose problems should he sustain an injury, but his progression throughout the week could allow him to return from the injured list Monday. Manager Mike Shildt previously indicated the 32-year-old will start once activated, rather than being eased in via the bullpen.

  • Johan Oviedo SP | BOS

Cardinals' Johan Oviedo: Still on right track with testing

Oviedo (illness) has continued to test negative for COVID-19 and could throw a socially-distanced bullpen session this weekend, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

The 22-year-old right-hander was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Thursday after coming in contact with an infected individual, but thus far, Oviedo appears to have gotten through unscathed. The team will need to see him continue to produce negative results for a certain, undefined number of days before allowing him back among his teammates, but the bullpen session, which would be conducted with only a catcher and other limited personnel, would be one way to keep his arm loose and in shape. "We'll keep him moving around," Shildt said. "We've got a tentative plan for him, but it's really just going to be required on him testing negative."

  • Dustin May SP | MIL

Dodgers' Dustin May: CT scan reveals no fracture

May (foot) underwent a CT scan that revealed a contusion, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

May's X-ray on Thursday was inconclusive, but he got encouraging results from his CT scan. According to Plunkett, the 23-year-old threw off flat ground Saturday, but Dodgers haven't made a decision as to whether he'll require a trip to the injured list.

  • Braves' Touki Toussaint: Slated to start Monday

Toussaint will start Monday's game against the Orioles, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Toussaint has been working at the alternate training site for nearly three weeks, but he'll return to the active roster for the series opener in Baltimore on Monday. Toussaint's start will allow Cole Hamels (triceps) and Max Fried (back) to get a few extra days of rest before potentially returning to the mound. Toussaint has been quite inconsistent this season and carries a 7.89 ERA and 1.52 WHIP over 21.2 innings during six appearances (four starts).

  • Kwang Hyun Kim SP | STL

Cardinals' Kwang-Hyun Kim: Could be back in rotation Monday

Kim (chest/kidney) continues to make encouraging progress and could return to the rotation as early as Monday for one of the doubleheader games against the Brewers, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. "He's going to come back as a starter," manager Mike Shildt said. "He had a really good day [Thursday] and another positive day [Friday]. We need him to start, but just because we need him to, we're not going to cram him into something that he couldn't physically do. But he's ready. We feel like he can get going."

Kim is awaiting medical clearance, as he's taking a blood thinner that could put him in danger if he were to suffer an injury. The chances of Kim making a return as early as Monday should become clearer as the weekend unfolds.

  • Chris Paddack RP | TEX

    Padres' Chris Paddack: Ankle improves

Paddack was spotted on the field without a protective boot before Friday's postponed game against San Francisco and informed manager Jayce Tingler that his injured ankle felt better, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Paddack exited his start Thursday after two innings due to a sprained right ankle but appeared to be feeling better one day later. "He had a compression sleeve on last night," Tingler said. "He said he woke up and felt better this morning than he did last night. That seems to be a good sign." While the Padres will not allow Paddack to return until ready, there is some urgency given the limited number of games remaining before the team decides its starting rotation for the playoffs. Per AJ Cassavell of MLB.com, the right-hander is not a lock to be included.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Secures fourth win

DeGrom (4-1) allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out nine over six innings as he earned the win Friday against the Blue Jays.

DeGrom has allowed no more than one earned run in each of his last five starts, but he's only been rewarded with two wins during that time. He had no trouble securing the victory Friday, as the Mets scored 14 runs over the first four innings. The right-hander now carries a career-best 1.67 ERA and 0.87 WHIP through 54 innings this season. His next start should come on the road Thursday against the Phillies.

  • Trevor Rogers SP | BAL

Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Pummeled by Phillies

Rogers (1-1) took the loss in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Phillies, surrendering nine runs (eight earned) on nine hits over three-plus innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.

After tossing two scoreless frames to begin the game, Rogers got tagged for four runs in the third before the wheels came off completely in the fourth -- the first five batters all reached base before the young southpaw finally got the hook after a Rhys Hoskins homer. Rogers' ERA more than doubled as a result of the disastrous outing, and while a 26:8 K:BB through his first 18 big-league innings is impressive, he'll carry a 6.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 2.5 HR/9 into his next start Wednesday, at home against the Red Sox.
