Trevor Rogers SP | BAL
Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Contract selected ahead of start
Rogers had his contract selected Tuesday by the Marlins and will start Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Mets, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
The 22-year-old was named the starter for the nightcap earlier in the day, but he wasn't yet a member of the 40-man roster. Rogers will make his major-league debut Tuesday having appeared in only five games at Double-A Jacksonville last season.

Ian Anderson RP | ATL
Braves' Ian Anderson: Debut postponed
Anderson won't make his MLB debut Tuesday against the Yankees since the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The 22-year-old had his contract selected earlier in the day and was primed for a matchup opposite Gerrit Cole, but he'll need to wait one more day. The Braves and Yankees will play a traditional doubleheader Wednesday, with Anderson scheduled to start Game 1.

Alex Wood RP | ATH
Dodgers' Alex Wood: Out through weekend
Wood (shoulder) won't be activated for the upcoming weekend series at Texas, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Manager Dave Roberts said previously the team was targeting this weekend for the left-hander's return, but he apparently won't be ready to be activated. According to Ken Gurnick of MLB.com, Roberts said Wood's simulated game Monday was "positive, but not overwhelmingly positive," so it appears there was something the team didn't like. Regardless, the 29-year-old will be spending at least another week on the injured list.

Drew Smyly SP | CHC
Giants' Drew Smyly: Second bullpen session coming
Smyly (finger) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
He continues to progress from a left index finger sprain. This will mark his second bullpen session, so he could soon advance to simulated games at the alternate training site.

Anthony DeSclafani RP | ARI
Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Placed on paternity list
DeSclafani was placed on the paternity list Tuesday.
He can miss no more than three games on the paternity list, so he will be able to return to the team in time for his scheduled start Friday against the Cubs.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
Cubs' Jose Quintana: Activated, could pitch Tuesday
Quintana (thumb) was activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Per Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune, Quintana could piggyback Tyler Chatwood in this start as he works in a long-relief role until he is fully stretched out. Once the Cubs feel he is ready, there should be a spot in the rotation waiting for him.

Trevor Rogers SP | BAL
Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Starting Game 2 on Tuesday
Rogers will start Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
While Rogers is one of the Marlins' top pitching prospects, he is not in the same class as guys like Sixto Sanchez and Edward Cabrera. He still needs to be officially added to the 40-man roster. Over his 136.1 innings in total last season between Double-A Jacksonville and High-A Jupiter, Rogers submitted a 2.90 ERA and 150:33 K:BB. Once Sandy Alcantara and Caleb Smith return from the injured list in the coming days, Rogers should return to the alternate training site.

Vince Velasquez RP | KC
Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Working as long reliever for now
Velasquez has officially been moved to the bullpen going forward, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
The Phillies will use him as a long reliever for now, essentially until they have need of a sixth starter again. He has logged fewer than five innings in three of his four appearances and a sports a 7.62 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 18:8 K:BB in 13 innings this season.

Sixto Sanchez SP | MIA
Marlins' Sixto Sanchez: Staying in rotation
Marlins manager Don Mattingly said Monday that Sanchez will remain in Miami's rotation this week, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. "Right now, we see him in the rotation," Mattingly said of Sanchez. "He was ready physically. Right now, he's going to pitch every fifth day. We're going to need all of our guys, and the guys coming back [off the injured list], too."
Miami is due to get three Opening Day rotation members in Sandy Alcantara, Caleb Smith and Jose Urena back from the COVID-19 injured list in the near future, but the 22-year-old fireballer performed well enough in his MLB debut over the weekend to earn a second start. He limited the Nationals to three runs on six hits while striking out four over five innings in that outing, earning the win for his efforts. Mattingly didn't specify when Sanchez's next start would come, but MLB.com currently lists the right-hander as the probable starter for Thursday's series finale with the Mets.

Steven Matz RP | TB
Mets' Steven Matz: Could start this week
Matz could be an option to start later this week, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
The team is hoping not to use Matz out of the bullpen during Tuesday's doubleheader, as they have nine games over the next six days and while Matz has been bad as a starter this year, these are desperate times. Matz has a 9.00 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 23 innings this year.
