  • Dodgers' Ross Stripling: To serve as bulk reliever

Stripling will work as the primary pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Rays, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

As expected, Stripling will take the mound after Caleb Ferguson fires the first inning or two. Stripling surrendered one run on three hits and struck out two over three frames in his last outing Wednesday against Baltimore.

  • Dodgers' Ross Stripling: Won't start Tuesday

Stripling won't make his scheduled start Tuesday against the Rays, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

The Dodgers have yet to reveal why Stripling is no longer listed as the starter, but it's possible he could be used as the bulk reliever for Tuesday's contest. Caleb Ferguson will open the contest, though he figures to throw only the first inning or so.

  • Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Reinstated from IL

Woodruff (oblique) has been officially activated from the 10-day injured list and will start Tuesday's game against San Diego, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

As expected, Woodruff has been cleared to return after suffering a left oblique strain July 22. His return comes at a great time for the Brewers, who are making a playoff push. It's unclear how many innings Woodruff will be able to throw, considering he's only been stretched out to around 40 pitches.

  • Reds' Michael Lorenzen: Situated on bench

Lorenzen isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs.

Lorenzen had drawn three straight starts in center field entering the day, but Brian O'Grady gets the call in center and will hit seventh Tuesday. Lorenzen figures to have an opportunity to enter the contest out of the bullpen despite not seeing his name listed in the starting nine.

  • Pablo Lopez SP | MIN

Marlins' Pablo Lopez: Bounces back with quality start

Lopez didn't factor into the decision against the Diamondbacks on Monday, giving up three earned runs on five hits over six innings, striking out six and walking none as the Marlins eventually lost 7-5.

The right-hander logged a quality start, but it wasn't quite enough to get him his sixth win. Still, it was a nice rebound effort after he gave up five earned in five innings to the Brewers in his last start. Lopez's 4.94 ERA is still bloated, but he's managed to provide solid numbers in other categories over his 19 starts, with a 1.18 WHIP and 91 strikeouts across 102 innings.

  • Robbie Ray SP | SD

Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Sharp in no-decision

Ray threw six innings in a no-decision against the Marlins on Monday, yielding just one hit and one earned run, striking out seven and walking four as the Diamondbacks eventually won 7-5.

He didn't have his best control, but it was an otherwise stellar outing for the left-hander and a nice bounce back after he was lit up for five earned while recording just two outs in his last trip to the mound against the Mets. He seems to be over the blister issue that was giving him trouble in his last two starts, and while his 4.20 ERA and 1.33 WHIP for the season aren't spectacular, Ray has acted as a solid source of strikeouts again in 2019, with 215 punchouts to his name across 163 innings.

  • Steven Matz RP | TB

Mets' Steven Matz: Shelled by Rockies

Matz (10-9) took the loss against the Rockies on Monday, giving up seven earned runs on six hits over four innings, striking out four and walking two as the Mets fell 9-4.

Matz blanked the Diamondbacks his last time out, but he was shelled in this one, with most of the damage against him coming on long balls he gave up to Ian Desmond and Trevor Story. The 28-year-old left-hander now sports a 4.16 ERA and 1.33 WHIP across 149.1 innings ahead of his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday in a road matchup against the Reds.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Moves to 10-10

Senzatela (10-10) picked up the win against the Mets on Monday, giving up four earned runs on eight hits over six innings, striking out four and walking one in the Rockies' 9-4 victory.

The right-hander served up a pair of long balls to Brandon Nimmo and Amed Rosario but he wound up missing a quality start by just one earned run and picking up his 10th win of the season to even up his record. He's gone six innings and bagged the win in each of his last two starts, but it's still been a struggle on the whole in 2019 for Senzatela, who is sporting a 6.83 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and an unimpressive 66:52 K:BB across 114.2 innings.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Reds' Kevin Gausman: Struggles in loss

Gausman (3-9) gave up three runs on three hits and no walks while striking out two through two innings to take the loss against the Cubs on Monday.

Gausman wasn't expected to pitch deep in his first start with the Reds, and he allowed a three-run home run in the first frame that handed him the loss. Gausman had a 4.02 ERA in 11 appearances as a reliever for the Reds coming into this game and will likely return to his bullpen role. The 28-year-old has a 5.99 ERA with 109 strikeouts through 28 appearances this season.

  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Cubs' Cole Hamels: Struggles in no-decision

Hamels gave up two runs on three hits and five walks while striking out four through 3.1 innings in a no-decision against the Reds on Monday.

Hamels struggled with his command, allowing five free passes and laboring through 3.1 innings before being pulled from the game after 73 pitches. Hamels hasn't pitched five innings in any of his last three starts. The 35-year-old has a 3.92 ERA with 135 strikeouts through 26 starts this season. Hamels is scheduled to make his next start Saturday against the Cardinals at Wrigley Field.
