  • Zac Gallen SP | ARI

Marlins' Zac Gallen: Still dominating for New Orleans

Gallen gave up one run on four hits and two walks over 6.2 innings while striking out eight for Triple-A New Orleans on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old was simply too much for Pacific Coast League hitters once again -- Iowa didn't even get a runner into scoring position against Gallen until the sixth inning in this one. He's allowed more than two runs in a start only once in 11 trips to the mound this season, and he still struck out 10 batters in that outing. Gallen will continue biding his time at Triple-A until the Marlins make room for him in the big-league rotation, but his 1.70 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 88:13 K:BB through 74 innings are clear evidence he has nothing left to prove in the minors.

  • Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Allows five runs

Buehler took a no-decision in Wednesday's 9-8 win over the Mets after surrendering five runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out six through five innings of work.

The bulk of Buehler's damage came from a pair of two-run homers by Pete Alonso. The right-hander left the game with the Dodgers trailing 5-3. It looked like Buehler was in line for the loss after the Dodgers soon found themselves down 8-3, but luckily a ninth-inning rally off Mets closer Edwin Diaz gave the Dodgers all they needed to win the game. Despite the tough outing, Buehler has been sharp this year with a 4.03 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and and 58:12 K:BB. He'll look to bounce back with a road matchup against the Diamondbacks on Monday.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Takes no-decision in loss

Syndergaard took a no-decision Wednesday against the Dodgers after allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks while punching out five through six innings of work.

Syndergaard left with the game with an 8-3 lead but a ninth-inning Dodgers rally against Edwin Diaz robbed the right-hander of a win. This season has proved to be a tough one for Syndergaard as he deals with both mental and mechanical issues, but no doubt the ace has much left to offer this season. He'll carry a 4.90 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 77:17 K:BB into a home contest against the struggling Giants.

  • Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA

Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Grounds Astros for fifth win

Hendricks (5-4) picked up the win in Wednesday's 2-1 victory over the Astros, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over eight innings while striking out seven.

The right-hander closed out May the same way he began it, by saving the Cubs' bullpen. Hendricks has worked at least eight innings in four of his last six starts, posting a 1.81 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 37:5 K:BB in 44.2 innings over that stretch with a 4-0 record. He'll try to keep his momentum going Tuesday, at home against the Rockies.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Braves' Kevin Gausman: Disastrous outing against Nats

Gausman (2-4) took the loss in Wednesday's 14-4 drubbing at the hands of the Nationals, surrendering eight runs on eight hits and two walks in only one-plus inning. He struck out one.

Remarkably, Gausman didn't serve up a homer amidst the carnage -- the Nats simply kept the line moving with a parade of line-drive singles, scoring four runs in the first inning without an extra-base hit. The right-hander came into the evening with a 4.33 ERA and staggered out of it with a 5.56 mark, but he'll look to rebound next Wednesday in Pittsburgh.

  • Pablo Lopez SP | MIN

Marlins' Pablo Lopez: Settles for no-decision

Lopez didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Giants, giving up one run on four hits and a walk over six innings while striking out five.

The right-hander continues to alternate quality starts with poor ones. Over his last seven outings, Lopez has given up one run or fewer in four of them -- and 18 runs in the other three. The end result is a 4.99 ERA and 55:15 K:B through 57.2 innings on the year, but he'll look to break out of his pattern in his next start Tuesday in Milwaukee.

  • Robbie Ray SP | SD

Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Struggles in loss

Ray (4-2) was charged with the loss after lasting just 4.2 innings Wednesday at Coors Field. He surrendered five runs (four earned) on eight hits and four walks while striking out six.

Ray earned the win at Coors Field on May 3, but Wednesday was a different story. The left-hander struggled with control, walking three consecutive batters in the fourth inning to load the bases before RBI singles from Brendan Rodgers and opposing starter Jeff Hoffman. Overall, Ray threw just 59 of 102 pitches for strikes and tied his season high in hits allowed with eight. The 27-year-old will look to improve upon a 3.59 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 82:35 K:BB in a tough matchup at Dodger Stadium on Monday.

  • Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Takes loss against Pirates

DeSclafani (2-3) allowed three runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and one walk across 5.2 innings while taking a loss against the Pirates on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old allowed a home run for the fifth straight outing, and he also yielded eight hits, which tied a season high. With that in mind, he was probably fortunate to only allow three runs. DeSclafani still took the loss, falling to 2-3 with a 4.97 ERA this season. He also has a 1.34 WHIP and 55 strikeouts in 54.1 innings. DeSclafani will make his next start Wednesday at St. Louis.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Records sixth win with seven strong

Nola (6-0) earned the win against the Cardinals on Wednesday by allowing one run on four hits over seven innings. He struck out eight and walked three.

The offense staked Nola to an early four-run lead and he never looked back, with his only blemish of the evening being a solo home run from Matt Wieters during the fourth inning. The 25-year-old will carry a 4.18 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 74:28 K:BB into Monday's start at San Diego.

  • Chris Paddack RP | TEX

Padres' Chris Paddack: Yields three homers

Paddack (4-3) allowed four runs on six hits with six strikeouts and one walk across five innings while taking the loss against the Yankees on Wednesday.

After skipping his last start because of a neck issue, Paddack struggled in a tough matchup at Yankees Stadium. He tossed up three homers, and even though all of them were of the solo variety, that was enough to get stuck with the loss. However, Paddack came into the afternoon having allowed just four homers all year, and since he doesn't have to face the Yankees again, there's little reason to be concerned about the long ball with the 23-year-old. Despite the loss, Paddack is 4-3 with a 2.40 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, .170 batting average against and 62 strikeouts in 56.1 innings this year. He will face the Phillies at home in his next start.
