  • Rich Hill SP | KC

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Will throw simulated game

Hill (knee) is scheduled to throw a three- or four-inning simulated game in Los Angeles on Friday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Hill threw a bullpen session Tuesday and he's now scheduled for Friday's simulated game, per Plunkett, after which more information should become available regarding his progress. Assuming he comes through Friday's work without a setback, a rehab start could be next on the docket as the veteran works his way back to the big-league rotation.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

    Braves' Kevin Gausman: Braves-Rockies postponed

Gausman's scheduled start Wednesday against the Rockies has been postponed due to rain, 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.

The game will be made up during a mutual off-day in August. While nothing is official, the Braves figure to push their rotation back by a day, leaving Gausman to take the ball for Thursday's series opener against the Mets. The right-hander was sharp in his season debut against the Marlins over the weekend, striking out seven across seven scoreless innings while picking up the win.

  • Taijuan Walker SP | LAA

Diamondbacks' Taijuan Walker: Throws bullpen Tuesday

Walker (elbow) threw a 39-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Richard Morin of the Arizona Republic reports.

Manager Torey Lovullo said the team will "slow play" Walker's rehab and that no firm plans have been established for the right-hander's next outing. Walker is rehabbing Tommy John elbow surgery he underwent in April of 2018.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Scorched by Angels

Peralta didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 11-8 loss to the Angels, coughing up seven runs on eight hits and a walk over 3.1 innings while striking out five.

A pair of home runs by light-hitting Tommy La Stella were the big blows, but Peralta just couldn't get a big out when it counted, managing only six swinging strikes in 92 pitches (56 total strikes). The right-hander will take a 6.91 ERA, but an impressive 19:4 K:BB through 14.1 innings, into his next start Monday, at home against the Cardinals.

  • Zack Greinke SP | KC

Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Fans nine in no-decision

Greinke didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Rangers, giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits and a walk while striking out nine over 6.2 innings.

The veteran hurler was on the hook for his second loss before Jarrod Dyson swatted a walk-off homer in the ninth inning off Texas closer Jose Leclerc. Greinke has bounced back in strong fashion from his Opening Day disaster against the Dodgers, posting a 19:1 K:BB in 13 innings while recording consecutive quality starts. He'll look to keep rolling Sunday in a home outing against the Padres.

  • Max Fried SP | NYY

Braves' Max Fried: Unfazed by Coors Field

Fried (2-0) picked up the win in Tuesday's 7-1 victory over the Rockies, allowing only one unearned run on five hits and a walk over six innings while striking out four.

The southpaw not only survived but thrived in his first career start in Coors Field, firing 57 of 90 pitches for strikes while keeping his ERA on the season at a pristine 0.00. Mike Foltynewicz (elbow) could rejoin the rotation as soon as this weekend, but it's hard to imagine Fried being the pitcher to get bumped aside given his current form.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Quality starts streak ends at 26

DeGrom (2-1) took the loss against the Twins on Tuesday as he allowed six runs on eight hits over four innings. He struck out three and walked one.

DeGrom entered the game with 26 consecutive quality starts -- tying Bob Gibson's major-league record -- dating back to last May, but clearly didn't have his best stuff Tuesday. The 30-year-old's major issue versus the Twins was the home-run ball, as Mitch Garver had two solo shots and Eddie Rosario hit a two-run blast. Despite the ugly outing, deGrom still has a 3.18 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 27:3 K:BB across 17 innings this year, which speaks to his utter dominance during his first two starts. He is next scheduled to take the mound Sunday against the Braves.

  • Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Bullpen on tap

Martinez (shoulder) is on target to participate in a bullpen session Friday at Busch Stadium, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.

If the right-hander is able to throw from elevated ground, it will mark his first time performing any mound work since pausing his throwing program back during the first week of spring. Martinez has been extending the distance and intensity of his flat-ground sessions in the last several days.

  • Joey Lucchesi RP | LAA

Padres' Joey Lucchesi: Shelled by Giants

Lucchesi (2-1) got the loss against the Giants on Tuesday, giving up seven earned runs on seven hits in four innings, striking out four and walking two as the Padres lost 7-2.

Lucchesi was 2-0 coming into the contest, but he was blown up by the Giants in his first loss of the season, pushing his ERA up to 4.40 through three starts and 14.1 innings. The left-hander hadn't given up an earned run in either of his starts before this, so he'll look to bounce back and regain that form in his next start, which will come at home against the Rockies on Monday.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Falters in final frames

Nola allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and one walk over 6.1 innings in Tuesday's 10-6 loss to the Nationals. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.

Nola was pitching with a 6-1 lead through five innings but exited during the seventh inning with only a one-run lead, which was surrendered during the ninth. The 25-year-old allowed only one run on Opening Day but has given up 11 runs (10 earned) and five home runs in his last two starts, both of which came against the Nationals. Nola next lines up to start against the Mets on Monday.
