  • Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Set to rejoin rotation next Monday

Manager Mike Shildt said Wainwright (elbow) will be activated from the 60-day DL on Sept. 10 to start against the Pirates, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.

Wainwright has been limited to just four starts this season due to an elbow injury, but he's been cleared to rejoin the big-league rotation after firing five scoreless innings in his sixth and final rehab start over the weekend. The veteran right-hander appears ready to go, as he struck out 23 while not allowing a run across 17 innings during his six-game rehab stint. He owns a 4.00 ERA and 1.83 WHIP with 15 strikeouts across 18 innings with the Cardinals this season.

  • Ben Lively SP | CLE

Phillies' Ben Lively: Designated for assignment

Lively was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Monday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

The Phillies needed to free up a roster spot for Jerad Eickhoff, who was activated from the 60-day disabled list Monday, and Lively was the corresponding roster casualty. The 26-year-old struggled to a 6.85 ERA across 23.2 innings with the Phillies this season.

  • Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT

Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Activated from DL

Eickhoff (lat) was activated from the 60-day disabled list Monday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

As expected, Eickhoff is back with the Phillies after missing the first five months of the season with a lingering lat strain. The right-hander made six minor-league rehab appearances before being cleared to rejoin the big club, posting a 2.55 ERA across 24.2 innings over those outings. He's expected to work in a long-relief role down the stretch. Ben Lively was designated for assignment to clear a spot on Philadelphia's 40-man roster.

  • Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Allows two runs in no-decision

DeSclafani allowed two runs on five hits and two walks across 3.2 innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Cardinals. He struck out four.

DeSclafani cruised until the fourth inning, when he allowed two runs on three hits and a hit batsman before his removal with two outs. He threw just 58 percent of his pitches for strikes, though he did generate four groundball outs to help his cause. DeSclafani started the month with three consecutive strong outings, but he's crashed back to earth with a 5.51 ERA across 16.1 innings over his last three starts. He has compiled a solid 15:4 K:BB over that span and will look to achieve a better result in a favorable matchup with the Padres this weekend.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Tabbed with fourth loss

Nola (15-4) allowed four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out 11 over 5.2 innings as he took the loss Sunday against the Cubs.

Nola tossed two scoreless innings to begin his outing, but he surrendered a run in the third, one in the fourth and two more in the sixth prior to exiting the ballgame. This was certainly an uncharacteristic outing for the 25-year-old right-hander, as heading into the series finale, he hadn't allowed more than three runs in a start since June 17 against Milwaukee. Nola owns a stellar 2.23 ERA with 188 punchouts through 181.2 innings this season.

  • Julio Teheran SP | BAL

Braves' Julio Teheran: Seven strong innings

Tehran allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks while striking out five across seven innings Sunday against the Pirates. He did not factor into the decision.

Tehran limited the Pirates' bats by generating 11 groundball outs, his highest total of the season. Though he managed only eight swings and misses, he continued to control the strike zone well, walking two or fewer batters for the fifth consecutive start. That's been one factor in his recent success as he's allowed three or fewer earned runs in six of his last seven outings.

  • Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Sent for precautionary X-rays

Buehler will have X-rays on his left foot following Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Buehler tossed a solid outing, allowing one run on two hits and three walks while fanning nine across 6.1 innings, although he didn't factor into the decision. It's unclear as to when Buehler suffered the injury, but he left the clubhouse after the game to have X-rays taken, per Gurnick. More information on Buehler's availability moving forward should emerge when the results of the scan come back.

  • Jacob Nix SP | SD

Padres' Jacob Nix: Drilled for five runs

Nix (2-3) pitched six innings and took the loss Sunday, yielding five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four in the 7-3 loss to Colorado.

Nix had allowed just three runs through six innings, but allowed two baserunners before being lifted in the seventh. Trey Wingenter then gave up both those runs on a Chris Iannetta double. It was a disappointing outing for the rookie right-hander after he allowed just one run in 8.1 innings during his last start. Nix will carry a 4.85 ERA into Cincinnati on Saturday.

  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Earns 13th victory

Freeland (13-7) tossed six innings and earned the win Sunday, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three in the 7-3 victory over San Diego.

It wasn't the cleanest outing, but Freeland moves to 4-1 since the start of August nonetheless. He did get in trouble early, though, allowing a two-run single to Franmil Reyes in the first inning. Still, the 25-year-old lefty owns a strong 2.96 ERA in 170.1 innings this season. Freeland will look for his third straight win against the Dodgers on Saturday.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Fans 11 in complete game

Syndergaard (10-3) fired a two-hit complete game Sunday, allowing just one run in earning the win over the Giants. He struck out 11 and walked one.

Oddly enough, the only run scored on Syndergaard all day came on a sacrifice fly from Giants starting pitcher Chris Stratton. The righty flamethrower was absolutely dealing Sunday, needing 114 pitches to finish off the 11-strikeout performance. Thor dropped his ERA down to 3.33 alongside a strong 128:26 K:BB. He'll take the mound at home against the Phillies on Saturday.
