  • Rockies' German Marquez: Hurls seven scoreless innings

Marquez allowed three hits and one walk while striking out nine across seven scoreless innings Saturday against the Cardinals. He did not factor into the decision.

Marquez continued his tremendous run of starts -- both at and away from Coors Field -- by inducing 17 of his 21 outs via either groundball or strikeout. He has failed to record a quality start only once in his last 10 starts -- four of which have come at Coors Field. That said, while his ERA is still an unsightly 5.81 when he pitches at home, his recent track record suggests he is trustworthy regardless of venue.

  • Pirates' Jameson Taillon: Whiffs eight in win over Brewers

Taillon (10-9) picked up the win against the Brewers on Saturday, allowing one run on five hits while striking out eight.

Taillon was dialed in for most of Saturday's outing, tossing 69 of his 108 pitches for strikes en route to his sixth consecutive quality start. His lone mistake came in the third inning, when he caught a little too much of the plate with a curveball that Christian Yelich connected on for a solo homer. The 26-year-old now owns a 3.49 ERA and 1.22 WHIP across 152 innings (26 starts) this season. He'll look to keep things rolling when he faces the Braves in Atlanta next.

  • Robbie Ray SP | SD

Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Strikes out seven

Ray allowed one run on five hits and four walks while striking out seven across five innings Saturday against the Mariners. He did not factor into the decision.

As he has for much of the season, Ray struggled to find the strike zone Saturday. Only 56 of his 104 pitches went for strikes and he has now walked at least four batters in four of his last five starts. However, he managed to work around that by striking out seven and generating an impressive 16 swinging strikes. The only run he surrendered came on a leadoff home run by Mitch Haniger in the first inning. That said, while his control remains an issue, he displayed plenty of positives to build off in this start.

  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Mets' Zack Wheeler: Blanks Nats to win seventh straight

Wheeler (9-6) picked up the win in Saturday's 3-0 victory over the Nationals, allowing six hits and three walks over seven scoreless innings while striking out four.

The right-hander only ran into real trouble in the third inning, but Wheeler escaped a one-out, bases-loaded jam and kept the Nats at bay the rest of the way. He's now won seven straight starts, posting a scintillating 1.74 ERA and 41:11 K:BB in 46.2 innings over that streak -- a streak he'll look to continue Friday in San Francisco.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Cubs' Jose Quintana: Carried to 11th win by offense

Quintana (11-9) picked up the win in Saturday's 10-6 victory over the Reds, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks over five innings while striking out two.

The southpaw threw only 49 strikes in 89 pitches before getting the hook after walking the first batter he faced in the sixth inning, but the Cubs' bats made sure that was enough to get Quintana the win. He'll take a 4.33 ERA into his next start Thursday in Atlanta.

  • Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR

Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Slated to start Sunday

Ryu will start Sunday against the Padres, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Ryu was originally scheduled to start Tuesday against the Rangers, but he'll get the ball for Sunday's series finale after Alex Wood's start was pushed back. The southpaw, who owns an impressive 2.27 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 10.4 K/9 over eight starts (39.2 innings) this season, will now take the mound on regular rest.

  • Luis Castillo SP | CHW

Reds' Luis Castillo: Lit up by Cubs

Castillo (7-11) took the loss Saturday, surrendering five runs on five hits and a walk over 3.1 innings while striking out two as the Reds fell 10-6 to the Cubs.

Wrigley Field played very small in this one, as Daniel Murphy and Kyle Schwarber each tagged Castillo for a two-run homer before his quick exit. That's unfortunately nothing new for the right-hander, who's now coughed up 24 home runs in 26 starts (1.6 HR/9). He'll take a 5.07 ERA with him to the mound next Saturday in St. Louis.

  • Alex Wood RP | ATH

Dodgers' Alex Wood: Start pushed to Wednesday

Wood will make his next scheduled start Wednesday against the Rangers, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Wood was originally scheduled to take the mound Sunday against the Padres, but Hyun-Jin Ryu will slide up to start in his place. There has been no word of any injury at this point, so it sounds like the Dodgers are simply affording the southpaw, who recently returned from a hamstring injury, some extra rest before his next start. He owns a 3.60 ERA and 1.19 WHIP through 132.1 innings this season.

  • Julio Urias SP | LAD

Dodgers' Julio Urias: Rehab over but still in Triple-A

Urias (shoulder) was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

The move has no impact on Urias' return to the majors, as the plan all along was for him to head to Los Angeles in September. His rehab assignment was about to expire, though he'll need at least one more appearance with Oklahoma City, so he'll remain in Triple-A as a normal member of the team, at least officially. Expect him up in the Dodgers' bullpen in early September, barring any setbacks.

  • Julio Urias SP | LAD

Dodgers' Julio Urias: Will be up in September

Urias (shoulder) will be called up in September, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Manager Dave Roberts confirmed Saturday that Urias will be up with the team in September. He'll presumably be used in a bullpen role when he returns, as he's maxed out at 44 pitches in his rehab appearances.
