Tyler Mahle SP | ATL
Reds' Tyler Mahle: Goes 3.1 innings in loss Tuesday
Mahle (3-5) allowed four runs on seven hits in a loss to the Giants on Tuesday, striking out two and walking one in 3.1 innings.
Mahle had his shortest outing of the season on Tuesday. He blanked the Giants through three, but then gave up a solo shot to Brandon Belt, followed by three consecutive singles to load the bases. After striking out Kelby Tomlinson, Mahle then allowed a base hit to pinch hitter Pablo Sandoval to tie up the game and end his night. The right-hander has now given up 10 home runs on the season, but still sports excellent strikeout numbers (46 strikeouts in 47.2 innings). Mahle is in line to face the Cubs at home in his next start.

German Marquez SP | SD
Rockies' German Marquez: Takes tough loss Tuesday
Marquez (2-5) took the loss against the Padres on Tuesday, allowing two earned runs on six hits over five innings. He struck out five and issued one walk.
The Rockies' offense continued to struggle Tuesday as Padres starter Jordan Lyles took a perfect game into the eighth inning, saddling Marquez with the loss. The 23-year-old gave up two hits -- including a two-run home run to Eric Hosmer -- and had only one clean inning, but managed to limit the damage to only two runs. Marquez has an unattractive 5.15 ERA and 1.65 WHIP with 43 strikeouts across 43.2 innings and is his next start is currently scheduled to come against the Dodgers on Monday.

Zack Greinke SP | KC
Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Notches quality start in no-decision
Greinke did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's win over the Brewers, allowing one run on four hits and a walk while striking out five over six innings.
Three of the four hits he yielded were extra-base hits, but Greinke was able to limit the damage to just one run. Though he's yet to receive a decision in May, the 34-year-old has a 1.45 ERA with a 16:2 K:BB over 18.2 innings in three starts in the month. He's mostly recovered from a rocky start to the season and now boasts a 3.46 ERA to go along with a 9.5 K/9, which would be his second-best mark in that department over the last seven years. Next up is a start against the Mets on Sunday.

Noah Syndergaard SP | CLE
Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Strikes out seven in win over Jays
Syndergaard (3-1) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks across five innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Blue Jays. He struck out seven.
Syndergaard struggled to find the strike zone at times, throwing just 56 percent of his pitches for strikes. He struggled in the third inning, loading the bases on two hits and a hit batsman before allowing a two-run single. Syndergaard escaped the jam and continued on, but an elevated pitch count limited him to his second-shortest outing of the season. Still, the man they call Thor hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in a start since the opener and has a solid 3.14 ERA heading into Monday's favorable matchup with the Marlins.

Alex Wood RP | ATH
Dodgers' Alex Wood: Suffers tough-luck loss versus Marlins
Wood (0-4) allowed two runs (one earned) on nine hits with no walks and five strikeouts over six innings while taking the loss Tuesday against the Marlins.
Wood dealt with baserunners on a consistent basis, but he got ahead on 17 of 25 batters and induced 10 groundball outs to help his cause. He was only scored upon via an error in the first inning and a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Unfortunately, Wood received little run support yet again and is still in search of his first victory. The search is scheduled to continue Sunday against the Nationals.

Jack Flaherty SP | DET
Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Allows one in no-decision
Flaherty did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk while striking out three over 5.2 innings against the Twins.
With Adam Wainwright (elbow) placed on the disabled list earlier in the day, Flaherty pitched admirably filling in the vacated rotation spot. The 22-year-old didn't allow a baserunner past first base through 5.2 innings until allowing consecutive hits to the final three batters he faced. In three starts in the majors this year, Flaherty has struck out 14 in 15.2 innings to go along with a 2.87 ERA. Though no official announcement has been made regarding Flaherty's status in the rotation, he'd next be lined up to pitch Sunday against the Phillies if he does take another turn.

Yu Darvish SP | SD
Cubs' Yu Darvish: Start shortened by cramping Tuesday
Darvish did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's win, pitching four innings while allowing one run on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts against the Braves.
In his first start in nearly two weeks following a stint on the disabled list with the flu, Darvish was limited to just 61 pitches and four frames before having to depart due to cramping in his right calf, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports. Before exiting, Darvish looked sharp in inducing 10 swings and misses on just 36 strikes, and limited the damage to a solo home run to the second-to-last batter he faced. The 31-year-old is still looking for his first win since joining the Cubs and he'll get his next crack at that Sunday against the Reds, health permitting.

Trevor Williams RP | TEX
Pirates' Trevor Williams: Spins seven shutout innings
Williams (5-2) tossed seven scoreless innings to pick up the win Tuesday against the White Sox. He allowed six hits and struck out six without issuing a walk.
Tuesday's outing was Williams' second six-plus-inning scoreless start of the season and his first since April 1. The righty breezed through the first four innings but allowed back-to-back singles to begin the fifth before retiring the next three hitters to escape the jam. He ended his day with a tidy four-pitch seventh inning, exiting with an excellent 2.72 ERA through his first nine starts this season. The 26-year-old has been a pleasant surprise in the early going, but his peripherals suggest that he's in store for a bit of negative regression at some point.

Jordan Lyles RP | KC
Padres' Jordan Lyles: Fans 10 in stellar start
Lyles (1-1) took a perfect game into the eighth inning and earned the win against the Rockies on Tuesday, throwing 7.1 scoreless innings while allowing one hit. He struck out 10 and issued one walk.
Lyles was perfect through seven innings during his second start of the season for the Padres before giving up a one-out single to Trevor Story and walking Pat Valaika. Despite the right-hander having thrown only 85 pitches, manager Andy Green opted to allow Kirby Yates and Brad Hand to get out of the jam and lock down the final 1.2 innings and secure the 4-0 win. Lyles has given up two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks over 12.1 innings during his two starts for San Diego while racking up 16 strikeouts. The 27-year-old's next start is likely to come against the Nationals early next week.

Zach Davies SP | WAS
Brewers' Zach Davies: Progressing in recovery
Davies (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Davies has been out for over two weeks with a nagging shoulder injury. If his bullpen session goes off without a hitch, he'll advance to throwing in a simulated game or partake in a minor-league rehab start. An update on his condition should be provided following his Wednesday workout.
