Carlos Martinez SP | SF
Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Won't return over weekend
Martinez (lat) will not be activated from the disabled list over the weekend when first eligible, Mark Saxon of The Athletic St. Louis reports.
Martinez landed on the disabled list last week with a lat strain. While he was originally hoping to only miss one start, his lack of progress up until this point has ruled him out for a weekend return, meaning he'll be forced to miss another start while on the shelf. It's unclear when Martinez will return at this point, but the Cardinals figure to proceed cautiously with the ace given his importance to the team.

Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Mets' Jacob deGrom: Start bumped up to Friday
DeGrom will now start Friday against Arizona rather than Saturday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
DeGrom was scheduled to get an extra day of rest but won't need one as he threw just 45 pitches Sunday against the Phillies. Steven Matz will be bumped back from Friday to Saturday to make room for deGrom. The switch has minimal fantasy impact, as deGrom is still facing the same opponent, though he'll avoid a matchup against Patrick Corbin, who has been excellent this season, and will square off against Zack Godley instead.

Joe Musgrove SP | SD
Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Nearing debut
Musgrove (shoulder) is scheduled to make one more rehab start Friday at Triple-A Indianapolis before returning from the 10-day disabled list and rejoining the Pirates rotation, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
Berry notes that this would put Musgrove in line for a May 23 season debut in Cincinnati, should all go well. The 25-year-old threw 79 pitches (60 for strikes) in his rehab start Saturday, but general manager Neal Huntington wants to see the righty get stretched out to 100 pitches before he makes his first major-league appearance of 2018. Musgrove had 98 strikeouts and only 28 walks across 109.1 innings with the Astros in 2017 and should have a decent leash in the rotation even if he struggles in his first couple of outings this season.

Jameson Taillon SP | TOR
Pirates' Jameson Taillon: Will make scheduled start Wednesday
Taillon (finger) will start Wednesday against the White Sox as scheduled, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
Taillon's status was up in the air after he was forced to leave his previous start early due to a finger laceration. It appears that the team is confident he'll be able to go. After giving up just two runs in his first three starts this season, the 26-year-old has since settled down near his career numbers, posting a 4.08 ERA in 39.2 innings.

Yu Darvish SP | SD
Cubs' Yu Darvish: Activated ahead of start
Darvish (illness) was activated from the disabled list ahead of his start Tuesday in Atlanta.
Darvish hasn't pitched since May 2 after hitting the DL with the flu. Prior to his illness, he struggled through his first six starts for the Cubs, posting a 6.00 ERA backed up by strikeout (26.4 percent) and walk rates (11.4 percent) which would each be the worst numbers of his career.

Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT
Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Strikes out three in rehab start
Eickhoff (lat) struck out three and walked one while allowing two runs on five hits across 3.1 innings Tuesday in his rehab start with Double-A Reading.
After throwing two simulated innings 10 days ago, Eickhoff successfully completed a rehabilitation start. The back end of the Phillies' rotation has been pitching well recently, so manager Gabe Kapler may be inclined to continue going with the hot hand, even when Eickhoff returns. His next start at Double-A should take place in five days, edging him nearer to a late-May return.

Jack Flaherty SP | DET
Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Recalled ahead of start
Flaherty was recalled from Triple-A Memphis and will start Tuesday against the Twins.
Flaherty is up to replace Adam Wainwright, who hit the disabled list with elbow inflammation. He could be up for an extended period, with Carlos Martinez (lat) also on the disabled list and without a return timetable. In two starts for the Cardinals this season, Flaherty has 11 strikeouts and five walks in 10 innings, allowing four runs on 10 hits.

Merandy Gonzalez SP | MIA
Marlins' Merandy Gonzalez: Dealing with blister
Gonzalez was removed early in his start Monday at Double-A Jacksonville due to a blister on his throwing hand, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Jacksonville manager Randy Ready said Gonzalez's removal was precautionary, but the right-hander could end up missing his next scheduled start as a result of the blister. Prior to exiting, Gonzalez tossed two scoreless innings, giving up two hits and two walks.

Adam Wainwright SP | STL
Cardinals' Adam Wainwright: Officially placed on DL
Wainwright (elbow) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday.
This was expected, as Wainwright admitted he would need to take some time off after aggravating his elbow injury while warming up for his first start back from the DL on Sunday. The veteran ended up allowing two earned runs in 2.1 innings while walking six batters, claiming afterwards that he was unable to execute pitches because of the injury. It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined at this point. In the meantime, Jack Flaherty was recalled from Triple-A Memphis and will enter the rotation in Wainwright's place, starting Tuesday against the Twins.

Joey Lucchesi RP | LAA
Padres' Joey Lucchesi: Placed on disabled list
Lucchesi was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right hip strain Tuesday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Lucchesi suffered the injury Monday against the Rockies, though it was originally called glute tightness and not a hip strain. A timeline for his return has not yet been established. Bryan Mitchell and Robbie Erlin are the most obvious candidates to fill in for him in the rotation. Carlos Asuaje was recalled from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move.
