  • Jose Urena SP | LAA

Marlins' Jose Urena: Strong effort in Tuesday's win

Urena (5-2) allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking our four over six innings in Tuesday's 8-1 win over the A's.

After delivering quality starts in his first two outings after moving into the rotation, Urena had failed to complete six innings in any of his previous five starts before Tuesday's effort. He's still won his last four decisions, however, and the 25-year-old's 4.19 ERA and 1.26 WHIP as a starter are serviceable numbers in deeper fantasy formats. He'll next take the mound Sunday in Atlanta.

  • Ben Lively SP | CLE

Phillies' Ben Lively: Goes seven innings for third straight start

Lively allowed three runs on eight hits over seven innings in a 4-3 extra-innings loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday. He struck out two and walked two.

Lively has gone seven innings in all three of his major-league starts and hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of those outings. He relies on pitching to contact which leaves him prone to blow-ups, but he is making it work so far. He will face the Diamondbacks at home in his next start.

  • Marco Gonzales RP | TEX

Cardinals' Marco Gonzales: Struggles with long ball in spot start

Gonzales lasted only 3.1 innings in Tuesday's spot start against the Brewers, giving up five runs on six hits (three of them homers) and striking out two.

He didn't factor into the decision, and as the 26th man on the roster due to Tuesday's doubleheader, he's ticketed back to Triple-A, though the Cardinals haven't yet announced the move. Gonzales has looked decent in the minors this year, but the 25-year-old has yet to find much success in the big leagues.

  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Mets' Zack Wheeler: Chased early by Cubs

Wheeler (3-4) got only five outs while allowing eight runs on six hits and three walks in Tuesday's blowout loss to the Cubs.

Damage control had largely been the name of the game for Wheeler, but all his baserunners finally caught up with him in this one. The 27-year-old righty had allowed just 11 earned runs over his past 41 innings (2.41 ERA); however, his 1.49 WHIP in that span portended a blowup, and this was a big one. He'll try to shake it off when he takes the ball for his second start of the week Sunday against the Nationals.

  • Gerrit Cole SP | NYY

Pirates' Gerrit Cole: Goes seven strong innings in win over Rockies

Cole (4-6) tossed seven innings of one-run ball in Tuesday's win over the Rockies, allowing three hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

Cole did extremely well to quiet a potent Colorado lineup and was even a bit unlucky on the run he gave up, as Trevor Story scored from first base on a single by Tony Wolters. He struggled with his command a bit and set a new season high in walks, but he held the opposition without an extra-base hit to help mitigate the impact. This gem ended a run of futility in which Cole had allowed a whopping 23 earned runs in his previous 19.1 innings -- a stretch that saw his ERA jump nearly two full runs to 4.83. He had been quite consistent prior to that miserable run, which was largely to blame on his inability to limit the long ball, and he will look to build off of this bounce-back performance Monday against the Brewers.

  • Austin Gomber SP | TEX

Cardinals' Austin Gomber: Roughed up in return from DL

Gomber (undisclosed) allowed four runs on five hits and three walks over three innings during Friday's 5-1 loss against Double-A Northwest Arkansas.

Gomber showed signs of rust following his activation from the disabled list Friday. His rough outing raised his ERA to 4.64 on the season.

  • Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Placed on disabled list

Woodruff was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with right hamstring tightness.

It turns out that the pregame injury that caused Woodruff to be scratched from his MLB debut Tuesday against the Cardinals is severe enough to warrant a trip to the disabled list. Paulo Espino was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs in a corresponding move.

  • Lance Lynn SP | STL

Cardinals' Lance Lynn: Throws five scoreless innings in win over Brewers

Lynn (5-3) threw five scoreless innings in Tuesday's win over the Brewers, allowing three hits and four walks with eight strikeouts.

Lynn was in control from the start in this one and only ran into trouble in the fifth inning, when he loaded the bases with one out before escaping the jam unscathed. He labored a bit in that final frame, which played a part in his removal after 95 pitches, but the game was under control at that point and the bullpen closed it down without a hitch. Lynn hasn't completed six full innings in any of his last four starts as the club continues to monitor his workload, but he has allowed more than two runs just once in his last six outings to lower his ERA to a stellar 2.69. Even if he continues to get a relatively early hook in some starts, the 30-year-old continues to get the job done and will look to continue his recent success Sunday against the Orioles.

  • Taijuan Walker SP | LAA

Diamondbacks' Taijuan Walker: Tabbed for Wednesday start

Manager Torey Lovullo confirmed Walker (finger) will start Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

Walker has been sidelined since May 21 with a blister issue, but he was able to progress steadily through his rehab with no issues and is expected to be activated from the disabled list ahead of Wednesday's contest. The 24-year-old, who compiled a 3.46 ERA and 46:18 K:BB across nine starts (52 innings) before landing on the DL, will duel with Jordan Zimmerman in his first game back. Randall Delgado is expected to lose his rotation spot upon Walker's return.

  • Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA

Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Won't rejoin rotation over weekend

Hendricks (hand) is not expected to return to the Cubs' rotation over the weekend, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Hendricks' side session Tuesday didn't go as planned as he experienced some discomfort in his hand while throwing, so he'll need some more time off to recover before he is ready to rejoin to the starting rotation. It's unclear when he'll be ready to come off the disabled list seeing as the Cubs don't plan on activating him until he is throwing completely pain free.
