  • Lance Lynn SP | STL

Cardinals' Lance Lynn: Takes loss Tuesday despite quality start

Lynn (4-2) gave up four runs (two earned) on three hits and a walk while striking out four over six innings in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Red Sox.

He served up solo homers to Mookie Betts and Jackie Bradley in the first two innings, but Lynn was still in line for a possible win before his defense let him down in the fifth. The 30-year-old has now delivered quality starts in five of his last six trips to the mound, and the Cards' schedule will afford him an extra couple days rest before his next outing Tuesday on the road against the Dodgers.

  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Gets plenty of support Tuesday

Freeland (4-2) allowed three runs on five hits and four walks over six innings in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Twins. He struck out three.

The lefty was in and out of trouble all night but avoided any significant damage in delivering his fifth straight quality start and sixth of the season. Freeland's 3.13 ERA may be a mirage given his lackluster 29:22 K:BB through 46 innings, not to mention his home park, but with the Rockies riding high right now, the rookie should be able to keep picking up wins as long as he doesn't completely fall apart. Freeland's next start comes Sunday in Cincinnati.

  • Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT

Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Picks up fourth loss Tuesday

Eickhoff was tagged with his fourth loss of the season Tuesday after allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits over six innings against the Rangers. He struck out eight and walked two.

Eickhoff had an ERA of 8.40 over his last three starts, so Tuesday's outing was a step back in the right direction for him. His eight strikeouts were a season high. The righty has yet to pick up a win this season despite allowing three or less runs in five of his eight starts.

  • Rich Hill SP | KC

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Healthy in return

Hill (finger) returned from the disabled list Tuesay and tossed five innings of one-run ball against the Giants. He walked none and struck out six in a 2-1 loss.

The veteran southpaw made a successful return to the mound both in results and health, experiencing no lingering issues with the blistered finger that landed him on the disabled list twice this season. With the solid outing, it appears that Hill has avoided a demotion to the bullpen. That could change if his blister troubles resurface, but it looks like the 37-year-old will take the mound for his next scheduled appearance against the Cardinals next Tuesday. Make sure that Hill wasn't left on the waiver wire after his recent DL stint, as he has been effective when healthy this season (2.77 ERA and 9.0 K/9 in three starts).

  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Throws quality start in win over Pirates

Strasburg (4-1) allowed three runs on four hits and three walks across six innings in Tuesday's win over the Pirates. He struck out three.

Strasburg allowed just a solo home run through the first six innings, but he put the first two men on in the seventh and saw them come around to score after he was removed. He failed to reach five strikeouts for just the third time this season but was able to complete six frames for the seventh time in eight starts and earned his team-leading fourth win of the season. Strasburg holds a solid 3.42 ERA through 52.2 innings and will look to further improve on his season totals Sunday against the Braves.

  • Mitch Keller SP | PIT

Pirates' Mitch Keller: Pulled early with back tightness

Keller was removed early from his start with High-A Bradenton due to back tightness.

With the diagnosis of back tightness, it's likely that Keller was lifted early for precautionary reasons. Through his first 39 innings with Bradenton, the promising prospect has posted a 2.54 ERA and 38:7 K:BB ratio. He'll be listed as day-to-day until further information regarding his condition becomes available.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Slated to start Sunday

Nola (back) is expected to come off the disabled list to start Sunday's game against the Pirates, Matt Gelb of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Nola tossed 6.1 shutout innings (83 pitches) without a hitch during his last rehab start for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday, clearing the way for him to return to the big-league rotation. His first start back is expected to be May 21 against the Pirates. Nola held a 4.50 ERA and struck out 15 batters across 16 innings (three starts) this season before landing on the disabled list.

  • Rich Hill SP | KC

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Brought off DL to start Tuesday

Hill (finger) was activated from the disabled list Tuesday, Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Hill will make his third start of the season Tuesday night against the Giants. However, Hill isn't guaranteed a spot in the Dodgers' rotation moving forward and may be used in relief situations, as his trouble with injuries has allowed Alex Wood and Julio Urias to become solid starters for Los Angeles.

  • Reds' Brandon Finnegan: Moved to to 60-day DL

Finnegan (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Tuesday.

Finnegan was expected to be sidelined for an extended period of time, so the Reds decided to shift him to the 60-day DL to free up a roster spot for Peter O'Brien, who was claimed off waivers Tuesday. The Reds are still hopeful Finnegan will be able to return around mid June, though a timetable should continue to become clearer as he progresses in his recovery.

  • Neil Ramirez RP | CLE

Mets' Neil Ramirez: Inks major-league deal with Mets

Ramirez signed a major-league deal with the Mets on Tuesday, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports.

He elected free agency when he was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays last week, and that decision paid off. Ramirez has a career 3.72 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 27.7 percent strikeout rate in 92 MLB innings. Look for him to pitch in low-leverage situations out of the big-league bullpen going forward.
