  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Mets' Zack Wheeler: Fans six in no-decision against D-backs

Wheeler allowed a single run on seven hits and a walk while striking out six batters over six innings during Monday's loss to Arizona. He didn't factor into the decision.

Outside of a solo home run allowed to Jake Lamb, it was a smooth outing for Wheeler, which is noteworthy considering the opponent and hitter-friendly venue. After missing all of 2015 and 2016, he looks to be settling in and has allowed just three earned runs over 16.2 innings through his past three starts. His year-long 3.76 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 8.3 K/9 are respectable fantasy marks, too. Wheeler lines up to make his second start of the week against the Angels this weekend.

  • Chase Anderson RP | TEX

Brewers' Chase Anderson: Posts mediocre outing versus Padres

Anderson allowed four runs on six hits while walking three and striking out five over 5.1 innings for a no-decision in Monday's 6-5 extra-innings loss to the Padres.

Anderson's ERA rose to 3.43, and he needed 90 pitches in a start where his fantasy owners were likely expecting much more out of him against the weak-hitting Friars. The 29-year-old right-hander hasn't had a blowup outing yet but also isn't standing out in fantasy circles. He's merely a back-end starter in deep mixed leagues.

  • Reds' Vladimir Gutierrez: Strong professional start

Gutierrez went five innings Monday night for High-A Daytona Beach, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk, striking out seven. Through 36.2 innings, he has a 3.93 ERA and a whopping 49:6 K:BB without allowing a homer.

Gutierrez signed with the Reds in September after defecting from Cuba in February 2015. He's pitching so well for Daytona Beach despite getting robbed in April. If he keeps going like this, Gutierrez could be in line for a promotion to Double-A before long.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Strong in final rehab start

Nola threw 6.1 shutout innings in his final rehab start Monday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Ryan Lawrence of PhillyVoice.com reports.

Nola fired 83 pitches and struck out seven against just one walk. Unless the Phillies make a surprise decision to send him out for another rehab appearance, Nola appears to be in line to start May 20 against Pittsburgh. He's been out since April 20 with the back injury, but Nola had a solid 15 strikeouts in 16 innings before he went down.

  • Steven Matz RP | TB

Mets' Steven Matz: To begin rehab assignment at High-A

Matz (elbow) will make a rehab appearance Thursday at High-A Port St. Lucie, Matt Ehalt of the Bergen Record reports.

Matz threw 30 pitches in extended spring training Saturday, marking his first game action since he was placed on the disabled list to open the season. He's had no issue since returning to throwing in Florida, and if all continues to go well, expect the lefty to rejoin the rotation sometime in early June.

  • Seth Lugo SP | KC

Mets' Seth Lugo: Heading to High-A for rehab action

Lugo (elbow) will make a rehab appearance at High-A Port Lucie on Thursday, Matt Ehalt of the Bergen Record reports.

Lugo has been throwing without issue at extended spring training and remains on track for an early-June return to the majors. It remains to be seen whether a starting spot will be available when he's healthy, but that's quite possible, considering the struggles the Mets have had keeping their starters healthy this season.

  • Kenta Maeda SP | NYY

Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Tossing simulated game Monday

Maeda (hamstring) is set to pitch a simulated game Monday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Maeda was placed on the disabled list last week with a tight hamstring after tossing 8.1 innings of two-run ball against the Pirates. While the Dodgers haven't indicated when Maeda may be able to come off the DL, that could happen relatively quickly if all goes well Monday. With Rich Hill (finger) and Brandon McCarthy (shoulder) set to come off the disabled list this week, the Dodgers shouldn't need to recall anyone from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take Maeda's place in the rotation. The team's rotation depth may also mean Maeda gets held back a little longer than expected to ensure he's fully healed.

  • Tyler Anderson SP | LAA

Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Fans eight in loss Saturday

Anderson (2-4) allowed three runs on five hits and a pair of walks across 5.2 innings in a losing effort Saturday against the Dodgers. He also struck out eight.

After initially being tabbed for Thursday's start, the date change ultimately didn't change much about the southpaw's performance. He continued to be plagued by the long ball, serving up his 10th homer of the season to Brett Eibner in the fifth. This also comes on the heels of a 2016 campaign in which Anderson let only 12 balls leave the yard. He also needed 102 offerings to get through his evening, and although 68 of them went for strikes, his command began to tail off toward the end of his outing. Anderson will look to right the ship in his next scheduled start, Friday versus the Reds.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Picks up win despite mediocre showing

Senzatela (6-1) got through five innings to pick up the win Sunday against the Dodgers, giving up four runs on seven hits and three walks. He struck out five.

The young right-hander wasn't as sharp as he has been in other contests, serving up two homers and needing 97 pitches to get through five frames. However, the Rockies' offense picked him up, allowing Senzatela to move into a tie for the league lead in victories. Even with the lackluster outing, his ERA still sits at a solid 3.31 mark. He'll look to rebound in his next scheduled start Saturday in Cincinnati.

  • Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Next start pushed to Saturday

Martinez is now expected to make his next start Saturday against the Giants, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.

While Martinez was tentatively slated to start Friday's series opener against the Giants, it appears the Cardinals will award the start to Michael Wacha, who was skipped over last time through the rotation to allow him to get extra rest. This will likely just push Martinez's next start back by a day, still lining him up against the Giants. The 25-year-old currently owns a 3.88 ERA and 57:21 K:BB through 48.2 innings (eight starts) this season.
