Jake Thompson SP | PHI
Phillies' Jake Thompson: Called up Friday
Thompson was recalled by the Phillies on Friday.
The right-hander has been lighting it up with Triple-A Lehigh Valley lately, posting a 0.99 ERA and an 18:5 K:BB over his last three starts. Thompson will likely fill in as low-leverage bullpen depth for the Phillies, but could get a look for a starting spot with Aaron Nola (back) on the DL.

Noah Syndergaard SP | CLE
Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Receives positive second opinion
Syndergaard (back) received an "all positive" opinion from Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Wednesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
It seems to be good news with regards to Syndergaard's recovery period, though neither party has yet revealed specifics regarding the medical opinion. Nonetheless, it seems safe to assume the injury is nothing more than the initially diagnosed muscle tear, which will likely keep the ace out for a little over two months. General manager Sandy Alderson says the team will have a better timetable once the muscle begins to heal and Syndergaard is allowed to resume regular baseball activities, a process which could take a matter of weeks. The 26-year-old Rafael Montero will assume a spot in the Mets' rotation for now.

Blake Beavan SP | NYM
Mets' Blake Beavan: Signs minor-league deal
The Mets signed Beavan to a minor-league deal Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
New York is looking anywhere it can for pitching depth considering the health of Noah Syndergaard (lat). Beavan had worked a 3.79 ERA in the Mexican League and last occupied a major-league roster spot in 2014 with the Mariners. His biggest volume of work came in 2012, when he posted a 4.43 ERA, 3.96 K/9 and 1.42 BB/9 in 26 starts for Seattle. The 28-year-old right-hander will wait for a call to the bigs while at Triple-A Las Vegas.

Kolby Allard RP | CLE
Braves' Kolby Allard: Fans 11 for Double-A Mississippi on Thursday
Allard (2-1) tossed six scoreless innings for Double-A Mississippi on Wednesday, scattering three hits and striking out 11 without walking a batter.
Matched up against White Sox No. 2 prospect Michael Kopech, Allard dominated and set a new career high for strikeouts. The 19-year-old lefty has been completely unfazed by his aggressive assignment this season and now has a 1.36 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 28:7 K:BB through his first 33 innings at Double-A. The Braves may keep him at the level for a while no matter how well he does given his youth, but it's not out of the question that Allard sees Triple-A before his 20th birthday on Aug. 13.

Zach Eflin SP | BAL
Phillies' Zach Eflin: Goes seven innings for third straight start
Eflin allowed three runs on nine hits over seven innings Thursday against the Cubs. He struck out one and did not walk a batter.
Eflin has gone seven innings in each of his last three starts, but has yet to pick up a win despite his 2.42 ERA. He's not striking guys out, but he also isn't issuing many walks and he is keeping the ball on the ground. He'll face the Mariners in his next start.

Rich Hill SP | KC
Dodgers' Rich Hill: Removed early due to high pitch count
Hill (finger) was removed early from his rehab start Thursday with High-A Rancho Cucamonga due to a pitch count limit, J.P. Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group reports.
It was originally feared that Hill was removed from Thursday's rehab start due to an injury, but it turns out that the team had an inning pitch count limit that he reached in the first inning. Following his departure, Hill headed to the bullpen to get in some additional work, J.P. Hoornstra reports. It's positive news that the hurler was not injured, but his poor performance (two runs in two-thirds of an inning) is a bit concerning.

Rich Hill SP | KC
Dodgers' Rich Hill: Pulled early during rehab start
Hill (finger) was removed from his rehab start with High-A Rancho Cucamonga in the first inning, J.P. Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group reports.
Hill was originally expected to pitch four innings Thursday, so his early departure is certainly concerning. The veteran hurler wasn't sharp in his limited action, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk. He was only able to record two outs. It's unclear as to why he was removed early, but common knowledge (and recent history) suggests that it probably had to do with the finger blister that has plagued the 37-year-old for the better part of the past year. We'll wait for more information to follow Thursday's contest with regards to Hill's status.

Eric Lauer SP | LAD
Padres' Eric Lauer: Carving up competition at High-A
Lauer, 21, has a 2.95 ERA and 27:8 K:BB through 21.1 innings for High-A Lake Elsinore.
The 6-foot-3 southpaw has baffled hitters at this level with a four-pitch arsenal and excellent location. Lauer could be a fast riser as a polished college pitcher who has found little resistance throughout his time on the mound, at least thus far.

Tyler Anderson SP | LAA
Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Next start pushed back to Saturday
Anderson will make his next start Saturday against the Diamondbacks, Nick Groke of The Denver Post reports.
The Rockies initially tabbed the struggling Anderson for the series opener, but he'll now move back a day after manager Bud Black opted to give rookie German Marquez, who tossed six shutout innings in his last start against the Diamondbacks over the weekend, the nod Friday. Anderson hasn't been able to carry over the success he enjoyed in his rookie season into 2017, as the lefty has struggled in particular with keeping the ball in the yard. He's allowed at least one homer in all six of his starts, and has seen his strikeout and walk rates trend in the wrong direction as well.

German Marquez SP | SD
Rockies' German Marquez: Start moved up to Friday
Marquez will make his next start in Friday's series opener against the Diamondbacks, Nick Groke of The Denver Post reports.
The rookie was initially scheduled to start Saturday, but he'll swap places in the rotation with Tyler Anderson. It's expected that Marquez will stick with the big club at least for as long as Jon Gray (toe) remains unavailable, and manager Bud Black's decision to move Marquez up to Friday indicates that he's perhaps jumped the struggling Anderson, who owns a 7.71 ERA over six starts, in the rotation pecking order. Marquez faltered in his 2017 debut at Coors Field against the Nationals on April 25, allowing eight runs in four innings, but rebounded in his most recent start on the road April 30 against the Diamondbacks, spinning six shutout innings and striking out eight batters.
