  • Cody Reed SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Cody Reed: Missing bats at Low-A

Reed has a 1.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB in two starts for Low-A Kane County.

He missed the final seven weeks of the 2016 season with an undisclosed injury, but is back to game action this year. He really struggled after a promotion to High-A last season, but that could have been related to whatever injury ended his season. If he continues to miss bats at a high rate in Low-A, he should once again be tested with a promotion to High-A.

  • Zack Greinke SP | KC

Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Lit up for five runs in Friday's start

Greinke (1-1) was handed his first defeat of the season Friday against the Dodgers, as he allowed five runs on 10 hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out four batters.

Since joining the Diamondbacks in December 2015, Greinke has been obliterated in his four starts against his former team, serving up a combined 16 earned runs in 22.2 innings. Greinke could have saved himself from more extensive damage Friday, but after going 1-for-24 with runners in scoring position in their previous three games, the Dodgers went 3-for-8 against the former Cy Young winner. Fortunately for Greinke, he'll benefit from a more favorable matchup his next time out against the Padres, whose team wRC+ of 82 ranks 24th in baseball.

  • Julio Teheran SP | BAL

Braves' Julio Teheran: Gets win in home opener

Teheran (1-0) allowed two runs on five hits and four walks while striking out five over six innings in Friday's 5-2 win over the Padres.

It wasn't his sharpest outing so far this season -- in fact, the two runs were the first he's given up through three starts -- but Teheran still threw 66 of 105 pitches for strikes and wound up as the pitcher of record in the Braves' first-ever game at SunTrust Park, their new home stadium. The righty will get a tougher test in his next start Wednesday at home against the Nationals.

  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Fans eight in Friday no-decision

Strasburg (1-0) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over seven innings in a no-decision against the Phillies on Friday.

The right-hander fired 75 of 111 pitches for strikes, and pitching exclusively from the stretch seems to be agreeing with Strasburg so far. Through three starts this season, he has a 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 19:5 K:BB. He'll look for win No. 2 next Thursday in Atlanta.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Allows just one run Friday

Nola allowed one run on six hits over five innings in a 3-2 loss to the Nationals on Friday. He struck out six and did not walk a batter.

Nola needed 90 pitches to get through five innings, so it wasn't his most efficient outing. He has a 13:2 K:BB through his first 11 innings and has shown increased velocity on his fastball. He could be in for a nice bounce-back season after struggling with elbow issues last year.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Tears fingernail back in Friday start

Syndergaard didn't suffer a blister but rather a torn fingernail in Friday's shortened start against the Marlins, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.

It's hard to say if this is good news or not for Syndergaard. On the one hand, it means the recurring blister issue he has been dealing with since Opening Day isn't the culprit here. But now, he has a new issue, and it will be very difficult for Syndergaard to control the spin he puts on the ball without his fingernail intact. For now, Syndergaard is planning to pitch with fake nails and make his next scheduled start, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. We'll consider him day-to-day, but unless something goes wrong this week, expect Syndergaard not to miss any time.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Leaves after six innings with apparent blister

Syndergaard left after six innings and just 87 pitches after apparently aggravating the blister he sustained on Opening Day, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.

Syndergaard still completed a solid start, as he allowed just two runs (one earned) on six hits with four strikeouts, but he had plenty of gas left in the tank. The blister has been a recurring issue but has yet to keep him from missing a start. We'll monitor his status throughout the week and consider him day-to-day for now.

  • Jon Gray SP | TEX

Rockies' Jon Gray: To miss at least one month with stress fracture

Gray has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left foot and will miss at least a month, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.

Gray initially seemed to think the aggravation of a left toe injury suffered during Thursday's start wasn't that big of a deal. Upon evaluation, though, it was discovered that the nuisance that Gray has been dealing with since spring training has evolved into something that will require rest and rehabilitation to fix. The Rockies have already called up Shane Carle to join the pitching staff, but it's unclear who will be moving into Gray's rotation spot long-term.

  • Jon Gray SP | TEX

Rockies' Jon Gray: Placed on 10-day DL

Gray has been placed on the 10-day disabled list after aggravating a left big toe injury, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Gray has been dealing with the toe injury since spring training, and he said he was too sore to run because of the toe after Thursday's game. For now, it's unclear if Gray will miss more than one or two starts -- the Rockies haven't called up another starting pitcher yet, instead opting to add another relief arm in Shane Carle. As such, Gray may be able to return before the end of April.

  • Rich Hill SP | KC

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Set to start Sunday against Arizona

Hill (finger) will start Sunday against the Diamondbacks, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The veteran lefty had another strong throwing session Friday and it appears that his blister issue is behind him to the point where he'll be activated from the disabled list over the weekend. Hill will face Arizona's Taijuan Walker in his return to action.
