  • Zac Gallen SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Another scoreless start

Gallen (12-6) earned the win over the Rangers on Tuesday, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out seven over five shutout innings.

Gallen has kept a scoreless stat line in three of his last four outings, with the exception being a five-run outing against the Dodgers. Over that four-start span, Gallen has a 31:12 K:BB across 22 innings. The right-hander is now at a 3.55 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 133:49 K:BB through 132 innings over 25 starts this season. He'll look to keep things on track in his next start, which is projected to be at Colorado.

  • Andre Pallante SP | STL

Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Yields three runs in loss

Pallante (6-8) allowed three runs on six hits and five walks while striking out six over five innings, taking the loss Tuesday versus the Reds.

Pallante has issued five walks in back-to-back starts, and he's allowed multiple walks in each of his last nine starts. Over the longer span, he's given up 24 runs (23 earned) across 51 innings while surrendering just three home runs. Despite the command troubles, Pallante has maintained a 4.13 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP and 77:45 K:BB across 102.1 innings over 26 appearances (17 starts) in the majors this year. If the Cardinals stick with a six-man rotation into next week, Pallante is projected to make his next start at home versus the Pirates.

  • Rhett Lowder SP | CIN

Reds' Rhett Lowder: Strong again in first win

Lowder (1-1) allowed five hits and struck out three without walking a batter over five shutout innings to earn the win over the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Lowder continues to impress in the majors, having allowed just one run over 15.1 innings across his first three starts. He showed improvement in his one weak spot by issuing zero walks Tuesday after walking four batters in each of his first two outings. The right-hander is now at a 0.59 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 12:8 K:BB. He's tentatively projected for a road start versus the Twins this weekend.

  • Ranger Suarez SP | PHI

Phillies' Ranger Suarez: Gives up 12 hits

Suarez didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 9-4 win over Tampa Bay, allowing four runs on 12 hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

The 12 hits given up by Suarez are a new season high. The left-hander's been in a rut of late -- he's failed to make it through six innings in seven of his last eight starts, posting a 6.02 ERA in that span. Overall, Suarez is 12-6 on the season with a 3.05 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 134:33 K:BB across 24 starts (138.2 innings). He'll look to get back on track in his next outing, currently scheduled for early next week in Milwaukee.

  • Reynaldo Lopez SP | ATL

Braves' Reynaldo Lopez: Managing shoulder tightness

Lopez was removed from Tuesday's game against the Nationals due to right shoulder tightness.

Lopez only managed to last one inning in Tuesday's contest, during which he allowed one hit and struck out one batter. His velocity was also noticeably down, and it now appears his shoulder may have had something to do with that. There's no telling at the moment if he'll require a trip to the injured list, though Atlanta may wait a few days to see how he recovers before making a decision.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Sim game on tap

Glasnow (elbow) will face hitters in a simulated game over the weekend, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Glasnow reportedly felt good coming out of his bullpen session Tuesday, and he's now been given the green light to throw 2-to-3 simulated innings against live hitters. Assuming everything goes smoothly this weekend, the 31-year-old righty will likely rejoin Los Angeles' rotation sometime next week and build up his workload while pitching in big-league games.

  • Reynaldo Lopez SP | ATL

Braves' Reynaldo Lopez: Exits early Tuesday

Lopez (undisclosed) exited Tuesday's start against the Nationals after one inning, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Lopez pitched a scoreless first inning before meeting with manager Brian Snitker, pitching coach Rick Kranitz and a trainer. Lopez's velocity was down a couple notches in the frame and he was ultimately removed from the contest. It's unclear what the right-hander is dealing with, but more information on his status will likely be provided in the near future. In the meantime, Jesse Chavez replaced him on the mound against Washington.

  • Robbie Ray SP | SF

Giants' Robbie Ray: Bullpen session on tap

Ray (hamstring) is scheduled to throw 50-to-60 pitches in a bullpen session Wednesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The left-hander threw two- and three-inning simulated games Wednesday and Saturday, respectively, and he'll continue building up his workload with a bullpen session. Ray landed on the shelf Aug. 27 due to the hamstring strain, and he appears to be closing in on his return to San Francisco's rotation.

  • Tylor Megill SP | NYM

Mets' Tylor Megill: Sticking in rotation

Manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Megill will get at least one more turn through the rotation, and the right-hander tentatively lines up to pitch Sunday against the Phillies, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

The 29-year-old could also be pushed back to start Monday versus the Nationals, but regardless of the specifics, he'll receive another turn through the rotation since Paul Blackburn's (hand/back) return from the injured list has been pushed back. Megill has been a solid depth starter for the Mets this year with a 4.48 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 13 appearances, and he's coming off one of his best starts of the campaign as he held Toronto scoreless over six frames Monday.

  • Paul Blackburn SP | NYM

Mets' Paul Blackburn: Out through this weekend

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Blackburn (hand/back) isn't feeling much better and won't be activated from the 15-day injured list to pitch against the Phillies this weekend, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

The 30-year-old was scheduled to start Monday against the Blue Jays after missing a couple weeks due to a bruised hand, but he ended up being scratched due to back discomfort. It's unclear when Blackburn will be able to return from the IL at this point, but he'll be sidelined for at least another week.
