The Padres activated Waldron (oblique) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Waldron had been on the shelf throughout the 2025 campaign while recovering from a left oblique strain, but after completing a rehab assignment, he'll make regular turns out of the El Paso rotation. In his most recent outing for the Triple-A club Friday, Waldron struck out six over four innings but allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and three walks. The knuckleballer spent most of 2024 in the San Diego rotation, turning in a 4.91 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 133:40 K:BB in 146.2 innings. He could be an option to return to the big-league rotation later on in 2025 if he can find some success with El Paso.

Miley (elbow) opted out of his minor-league contract with the Reds on Sunday and became a free agent, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Miley opened the season on Triple-A Louisville's injured list while completing his recovery from the hybrid UCL repair surgery he underwent last May. After making a trio of rehab starts with High-A Dayton, Miley returned from Louisville's IL on May 15 and logged a 5.93 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 7:4 K:BB in 13.2 innings at the Triple-A level. Since a promotion to the Reds wasn't imminent, the 38-year-old lefty has chosen to explore his options on the open market and will hope to land with an organization that can present him with a clearer path to the big leagues.

Holmes (6-3) earned the win against the Rockies on Sunday, allowing three runs on three hits and no walks with three strikeouts over seven innings.

Holmes was tagged for solo homers in the third and fifth innings but was otherwise sharp, facing the minimum over his other five frames. The 32-year-old needed just 85 pitches to complete seven innings and has now gone at least five in 10 straight starts, recording five quality starts in that span. He sports a 3.07 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 59:32 K:BB across 67.1 innings and lines up for a rematch with the Rockies at Coors Field next weekend.

Palmquist (0-4) took the loss against the Mets on Sunday, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over 4.2 innings.

Palmquist opened with three scoreless frames before serving up a pair of home runs across the fourth and fifth innings. The rookie notched a career-high eight strikeouts but has now yielded at least four earned runs in three of his four major-league starts. He'll carry a bloated 8.50 ERA, 1.83 WHIP and 14:10 K:BB across 18 innings into a home rematch with the Mets next weekend.

Weathers (1-1) took the loss against the Giants on Sunday, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks with seven strikeouts over six innings.

Weathers generated an impressive 17 whiffs on 99 pitches and was largely undone by a three-run homer in the fourth inning. It marked the first time the southpaw completed six innings since returning from the injured list May 14, though he had allowed just two earned runs over his previous three starts. He'll carry a 2.49 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB across 21.2 innings into a road matchup with the Rays next weekend.

Nola (ankle) threw a bullpen session ahead of Sunday's loss to the Brewers, MLB.com reports.

Nola is expected to advance to throwing live batting practice this week, and a minor-league rehab assignment is likely set to follow. The veteran right-hander has been on the injured list with a sprained right ankle since May 16, but he's on track to re-enter Philadelphia's rotation around the middle of June. Although Nola isn't dealing with an injury to his throwing arm, it's possible the Phillies will want him to make more than one rehab start to sharpen after he posted a 6.16 ERA and 1.51 WHIP through 49.2 innings before being shut down.

Quintana did not factor in the decision during Sunday's win over Philadelphia. He yielded two runs on four hits and four walks over five innings while striking out three batters.

Quintana made his first start since May 9 after spending nearly a month on the injured list with a shoulder issue. He threw only 48 of 82 pitches for strikes but tossed three scoreless innings after giving up a run in each of the first two frames. Quintana earned a win in each of his first four starts this season but has since posted a 5.28 ERA over 15.1 frames in his last three outings. He'll carry a 2.77 ERA into his next matchup, which is lined up to be at home against the Padres.

Heaney allowed two runs on five hits and struck out three without walking a batter over 5.2 innings in a no-decision Sunday versus the Padres.

Heaney rebounded well from his previous outing, in which he allowed five runs over five innings against Arizona. He came up an out short of a quality start Sunday, and he also missed out on the win after Tanner Rainey and Caleb Ferguson combined to squander the Pirates' lead in the seventh inning. Heaney is now at a 3.39 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 47:24 K:BB across 66.1 innings over 12 starts this season. He's allowed two runs or fewer in four of his last five starts and in eight of his 12 outings this year. He is projected to make his next start at home versus the Phillies.

Vasquez allowed four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three over 3.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Pirates on Sunday.

Vasquez had gone six starts without allowing more than three runs, but that streak ended Sunday. He gave up home runs to Andrew McCutchen and Adam Frazier, which accounted for three of the four runs on his line. The long ball has been an issue lately, as Vasquez has given up seven homers over his last five starts. For the season, the right-hander has a 3.99 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 35:30 K:BB over 58.2 innings across 12 starts, numbers that suggest he has gotten fairly lucky so far. He is tentatively projected to make his next start at Milwaukee.

Suarez did not factor in the decision during Sunday's loss to Milwaukee. He allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits while striking out two over six-plus frames.

Suarez gave up a run through six innings before he was charged with an unearned run in the seventh. He faced just one batter in the frame, yielding a double to Caleb Durbin before exiting the contest. Suarez's two punchouts and five swinging strikes were both the lowest he's produced this season. He was tagged with seven runs in his season debut but has since turned in five straight quality starts with a 1.10 ERA during that span. Suarez will carry a 2.72 ERA into his next start, which is projected to be in Pittsburgh.
