Spiers was recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Friday and is scheduled to start Sunday's game at Baltimore, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.

The 27-year-old was demoted to Louisville on April 8 but will rejoin Cincinnati for a spot start this weekend with Nick Lodolo being placed on the paternity list. Spiers made two starts for the Reds prior to being sent down and allowed five earned runs with an 8:3 K:BB across 9.1 innings.

Gore won't start as scheduled Friday at Colorado since the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

Denver is experiencing some snow Friday, so an early call was made to postpone the series opener. The game will be made up via a doubleheader Sunday, with Gore likely to take the mound Saturday or during the twin bill.

Young collected 132 strikeouts across 111 frames between Double-A Bowie and Norfolk in 2024. Kyle Gibson is due to join the Orioles' rotation around May 1, which could point to an additional start for Young next week if he pitches well Saturday.

The Cubs recalled Wicks from Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Wicks' last appearance at Iowa came in relief, as he struck out five over three perfect innings. He looks to be slated for bullpen duty with the Cubs, providing some length behind Friday's starter, Colin Rea, who has yet to work more than 3.2 innings in an outing this season.

Ginn is scheduled to start Friday's game in Milwaukee.

Called up from Triple-A Las Vegas last Saturday to replace the struggling Joey Estes in the rotation, Ginn spun a gem in his 2025 debut with the Athletics, limiting the Mets to one run on five hits and two walks while striking out six over 5.1 innings. He'll unsurprisingly stick around for another turn through the rotation, and Ginn's ability to keep the ball on the ground should come in handy at American Family Field, which has historically been one of the better ballparks in baseball for home-run production.

Suarez (back) will throw a bullpen session Friday, and his next minor-league rehab start is scheduled for Tuesday with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Jeff Kerr of CBS Philadelphia reports.

Manager Rob Thomson noted that the left-hander has no issues with his back but could need another rehab appearance after Tuesday, which would likely push back Suarez's return to Philadelphia's rotation until early May. He threw 54 pitches Wednesday with Single-A Clearwater, so he'll likely be targeting the 70-pitch range in his next outing in the minors. The Phillies intend to bring Suarez back as a starter, but it sounds like Taijuan Walker is poised to get at least two more turns in the rotation in the interim.

Bibee (1-2) came away with the loss against the Orioles on Thursday. He allowed six runs on five hits and four walks while striking out five across 5.2 innings.

Bibee was hurt by the long ball Thursday, as three home runs accounted for all six of the runs against him. The right-hander hasn't allowed a run in two of his four starts this season, but in his other two outings he's given up a combined 13 runs (including seven homers) over 9.2 innings. Things won't get easier for Bibee in his next start, which is lined up for next week at home against Aaron Judge and the Yankees.

Sugano (2-1) earned the win against the Guardians on Thursday. He allowed two runs on five hits and no walks while striking out three across seven innings.

It was a strong overall performance for Sugano, who faced the minimum number of batters in five of seven innings. The third frame was his only blemish on the day, when he gave up back-to-back solo homers to Daniel Schneemann and Austin Hedges. It was Sugano's first quality start of 2025, and he's opened the season with a 3.43 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 8:5 K:BB across 21 innings

Lorenzen (1-3) took the loss against the Tigers on Thursday, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out three across 4.2 innings.

Lorenzen wasn't able to make it out of the fifth inning despite tossing 102 pitches (63 of which were strikes). He has allowed at least five hits in each of his first four starts of the 2025 season and has a 4.57 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 17:7 across 21.2 innings to begin the year. Lorenzen will look to get back into the win column in his next outing, which is tentatively slated for next week at home against the Rockies.
