The Orioles selected Povich's contract from Triple-A Norfolk ahead of his start Thursday against the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Povich will be making his major-league debut Thursday as the Orioles give the other members of their rotation some extra rest. The rookie left-hander isn't necessarily guaranteed another start with the big club beyond Thursday, but he could certainly earn additional chances if he pitches well against the Blue Jays. Povich has put up a 3.18 ERA and 75:21 K:BB over 56.2 innings covering 11 starts this season with Norfolk.

Corbin (1-7) took the loss Wednesday, surrendering six runs on seven hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over 5.1 innings as the Nationals were routed 9-1 by the Mets. He struck out three.

Luis Torrens took him deep twice while Francisco Lindor also belted a homer off Corbin, and two of the other hits off him also went for extra bases. The 34-year-old lefty offers nothing but length at this stage of his career -- Corbin's lasted at least five innings in seven straight starts, but he has a 5.63 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 22:14 K:BB through 40 frames to show for it. He lines up to make his next trip to the mound early next week in Detroit.

Severino (4-2) picked up the win in Wednesday's 9-1 rout of the Nationals, allowing one run on seven hits over eight innings. He struck out four without walking a batter.

The right-hander took a shutout into the eighth inning before three straight singles to lead off the frame finally got Washington on the board. Severino hadn't even allowed a runner to reach second base prior to that, and he left the mound having thrown an efficient 92 pitches (62 strikes). The quality start was his fifth of the year, and he'll take a 3.25 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 58:27 K:BB through 72 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Marlins.

Berrios allowed two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two batters over six innings in a no-decision against Baltimore on Wednesday.

Berrios didn't do much in the strikeout department with just two punchouts, but he was nonetheless very effective in recording his fifth straight quality start. The right-hander has just one win during that span but has put up a very solid 2.73 ERA. Aside from an eight-run, 3.2 inning blowup against Philadelphia on May 7, Berrios has been a model of consistency this season, allowing three or fewer runs in each of his other 12 starts. On the campaign, he's registered a 2.80 ERA along with a 60:21 K:BB across 80.1 innings.

Cease (5-5) allowed three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out six over six innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Angels.

Cease took his third loss in five outings. He was done in by the long ball again, as Nolan Schanuel took him deep to lead off the bottom of the first inning and Zach Neto added a two-run blast in the second. Cease has surrendered six homers during his five-start winless stretch. The right-hander is now at a 3.51 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 93:22 K:BB over 77 innings across 13 starts this season. He's not having a bad year by any means -- his 2.6 BB/9 is the best of his career. Cease will look to snap his skid in his next start, tentatively projected to be at home versus the Athletics.

Soriano (3-5) allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out one over six innings to earn the win over the Padres on Wednesday.

Soriano has gone at least six innings in each of his last four starts, giving up a total of 11 runs (10 earned) over 25.2 innings in that span. While the one strikeout matches his season low, Soriano also kept the ball in the yard for his second straight start. The 25-year-old is at a 3.64 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 55:26 K:BB over 64.1 innings in 13 appearances (11 starts) this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road at Arizona.

Garrett (2-1) took the loss Wednesday against Tampa Bay, allowing five runs on six hits and a walk across 2.2 innings. He struck out three.

Garrett seemed to have turned a corner after yielding 11 runs over his first two starts of 2024 by allowing just one run over 14.0 innings in his ensuing pair of starts. However, he couldn't keep his recent form, surrendering three doubles and failing to make it through three innings for the first time this year. Through the ups and downs, Garrett owns a 5.81 ERA and a 24:4 K:BB over 26.1 innings this season. He's lined up to face the Mets on Tuesday.

Gilbert (3-4) allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and struck out five without walking a batter over seven innings, but he took the loss Wednesday versus the Athletics.

Gilbert can be partly to blame for this loss, as his throwing error on a pickoff attempt put Daz Cameron in position to score on a passed ball in the fifth inning. The Mariners' lack of offense was the other problem, which led to Gilbert taking his fourth loss in his last six outings. He's turned in a quality start in four of those games despite the lack of wins. The right-hander is at a 3.12 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 76:20 K:BB through 83.2 innings over 13 starts this season. Gilbert is projected for a favorable home matchup versus the last-place White Sox his next time out.

Eflin didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Marlins, allowing two runs on three hits and no walks across four innings. He struck out three.

Eflin was activated from the 15-day IL for Wednesday's start and was yanked after 55 pitches. He was expected to be under a pitch count after being stretched out to only 40 pitches during his recovery from a back injury. The 30-year-old had to shake off a little rust, allowing all three hits and both runs in the first inning before retiring nine straight batters to close out the start. While Eflin will likely remain limited for the next few starts, he's worth a look in his next projected start, which is scheduled for Tuesday against the Cubs.

Paddack (4-3) took the loss against the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing seven runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over four-plus innings.

Paddack fell behind 4-0 after one frame but bounced back by holding the Yankees without a baserunner over the following three innings. However, the right-hander loaded the bases without retiring a batter in the fifth, and all three of those runners came around to score following his departure to further mar his final stat line. The four innings tied a season-low total for Paddack, matching the amount he completed in his season debut against Milwaukee on April 3. If there's a silver lining, it's that Paddack managed to punch out seven batters, his highest mark over his past five starts.
