Soto has a 2.08 ERA and 18:5 K:BB in 13 innings through four starts for Single-A Fort Myers.

A 2024 first-round pick out of high school, Soto is having a strong start to his professional career at just 18 years old (he turns 19 on Aug. 31). He's a former shortstop who is relatively new to pitching, so his good control - even if in only four starts - is an encouraging sign.

Irvin (2-2) picked up the win in Monday's 7-2 victory over the Marlins, giving up two runs on four hits over six innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.

The right-hander delivered his third quality start of the season in efficient fashion, tossing 59 of 84 pitches for strikes and taking a shutout into the sixth inning before Jazz Chisholm launched a two-run homer to center field. Irvin will carry a 4.28 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 26:7 K:BB through 33.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home this weekend against the Blue Jays.

Rodriguez (4-1) picked up the win Monday, allowing five hits and three walks over 5.2 scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory over the Yankees. He struck out three.

While the 24-year-old right-hander recorded his lowest strikeout total of the season so far, Rodriguez kept New York from pushing across a run despite having runners in scoring position in three of the six innings in which he worked. He tossed 54 of 101 pitches for strikes before exiting, coming up just short of his fourth quality start of the year, and he gave up two runs or fewer for the fifth time in six trips to the mound. Rodriguez will take a 3.71 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 37:12 K:BB through 34 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend in Cincinnati.

Schmidt (2-1) took the loss Monday as the Yankees were downed 2-0 by the Orioles, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

A solo shot by Gunnar Henderson in the first inning accounted for all the damage off the right-hander, but his teammates couldn't solve Grayson Rodriguez and the Baltimore bullpen. Schmidt exited after 92 pitches (56 strikes) and just missed recording his first quality start of the season. He'll take a 3.19 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 34:13 K:BB through 31 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home this weekend against the Tigers.

Gallen (hamstring) threw a bullpen session at Chase Field on Monday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Gallen indicated Sunday that believes he'll be ready for his next scheduled start, which would tentatively line up for Wednesday, and Monday's bullpen backs up this optimism. Assuming he still feels strong Tuesday morning, there appears to be a good chance he'll toe the rubber later this week.

Williamson (shoulder) is expected to begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on May 9, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Williamson has missed the entirety of the 2024 campaign to this point while nursing a left shoulder strain, but he appears to be on the cusp of returning to the mound. He'll likely need to make a few starts with Louisville before he can be activated from the injured list. The southpaw produced a 4.46 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 98 strikeouts over 117 innings in 23 starts with the Reds last season.

Medina (knee) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Medina is on track to toss another side session Tuesday, and if all goes well, he could be given the green light to face live hitters later in the week. While the right-hander continues to trend in the right direction, the team has yet to disclose when he could be sent out on a rehab assignment.

Waldichuk (elbow) threw 25 pitches against live hitters Monday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Waldichuk continues to advance in his rehab, and he's now scheduled to throw a sim game before potentially being sent out on a rehab assignment, per Gallegos. The southpaw figures to get a day or two off before his scheduled sim game.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Monday that he expects Nelson (elbow) to be back "soon enough," adding that the right-hander may not need a rehab assignment prior to being activated from the 15-day injured list, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Nelson threw a five-inning, 70-pitch sim game Monday and didn't experience any pain. The 26-year-old landed on the 15-day IL on April 19 due to right elbow contusion, but it appears Nelson could return when first eligible for activation May 4 against the Padres.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Monday that it's possible Steele (hamstring) rejoins the rotation after his rehab start with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The left-hander's rehab start Wednesday will be his first outing since he suffered a left hamstring strain back on Opening Day. As long as Steele gets his pitch count up to a high enough threshold and recovers well from the start, it sounds like he could be back with the Cubs early next week.
