Soroka (0-1) took the loss Thursday against the Royals, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out two over six innings.

It was an encouraging effort from Soroka after the right-hander allowed four runs over five innings in his first outing this season. Soroka struggled to a 6.40 ERA in seven starts last year with Atlanta after missing the previous two campaigns with a myriad of injuries. While Soroka should be locked into a starting role in Chicago, he's unlikely to offer much in terms of fantasy production. Soroka's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Guardians early next week.

Lugo (1-0) earned the win Thursday, holding the White Sox to one run on eight hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out three.

Lugo had to deal with traffic all night but managed to hold Chicago to just one run, coaxing four double-play balls en route to his first victory with Kansas City. The 34-year-old Lugo has gotten off to a good start this year, allowing just one run through his first two starts (12.2 innings) after going 8-7 with a 3.57 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 140:36 K:BB across 26 starts last year with San Diego. Lugo's currently lined up for a home matchup with the Astros in his next outing.

Mize allowed three runs on five hits across 4.1 innings and did not factor into the decision in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Mets. He gave up two walks and struck out four.

Mize was originally scheduled to start Tuesday, but that game was postponed twice due to inclement weather in New York. That may have thrown off the righty's normal routine, as he wasn't particularly sharp in his 2024 debut. This was also Mize's first appearance since April of 2022 following a lengthy recovery from Tommy John and back surgeries, so some rust was to be expected. The 26-year-old has plenty of upside, but the Tigers will likely exercise caution with him this year. Mize is tentatively set to take the mound again Tuesday against the Pirates.

Manning was returned to Triple-A Toledo after the Tigers' 2-1 loss to the Mets in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader.

Manning drew the start in the second game, but he didn't factor into the decision while covering 5.2 scoreless innings while striking out three and allowing no hits and issuing four walks. Though he'll head back to the minors, Manning will be the top option to join the big-league rotation if a more permanent spot opens up.

Lopez (1-1) took the loss Thursday versus the Guardians, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out two.

Most of the damage against Lopez came in the fourth inning when four of Cleveland's first five batters singled en route to a three-run frame. It's the first loss of the year for Lopez, who's allowed four earned runs on 10 hits while striking out nine through his first 12.2 innings. The 28-year-old right-hander went 11-8 with a 3.66 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a career-high 234 strikeouts in 32 starts with the Twins last season. Lopez will look to get back in the win column in his next outing, tentatively lined up for next week against the Dodgers.

Bibee (1-0) earned the win versus Minnesota on Thursday, allowing one run on five hits while striking out nine over 5.1 innings.

After a so-so first start this year, Bibee was excellent Thursday, allowing a lone run on an Edouard Julien homer in the fifth inning while matching his career high with nine strikeouts. The 25-year-old Bibee's allowed four runs on 11 hits while striking out 13 through his first 9.1 innings this season after going 10-4 with a 2.98 ERA and 141:45 K:BB as a rookie. He's tentatively lined up to take the mound at home versus the White Sox in his next outing.

Weathers didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Cardinals. He allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks while striking out six over five innings.

Weathers was solid for the most part Thursday, holding St. Louis to an Ivan Herrera solo homer in the second inning before the Cardinals tacked on a pair of unearned runs in the fifth. Weathers departed with a one-run lead, though the Marlins' bullpen couldn't make it hold up in an eventual 8-5 defeat. The 24-year-old southpaw is 0-1 while allowing four runs in nine innings across his first two starts this year. Weathers could carve out a more permanent role in Miami's rotation after it was announced that Eury Perez (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Yankees in his next outing.

Lynn did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and a walk over 4.2 innings versus the Marlins. He struck out seven.

Lynn was sharp early, blanking Miami through his first three innings. However, he'd give up a leadoff home run to Jake Burger in the fourth before Josh Bell and Burger tacked on three more runs with back-to-back blasts in the fifth. Lynn struggled with the long ball last year, allowing a league-most 44 homers while struggling to a 5.73 ERA across 32 starts between the Dodgers and White Sox. The veteran right-hander has given up four runs on 12 hits through 8.2 innings in his first two starts this season.

Cabrera (shoulder) will make his second rehab start Friday with Triple-A Jacksonville, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Cabrera is aiming to work four innings Friday, after he tossed three scoreless frames and 43 pitches in his first outing with Jacksonville last Sunday. The right-hander will presumably need one more rehab appearance after Friday's outing to get stretched out enough to the point that the Marlins are comfortable bringing him back from the 15-day injured list and inserting him into the big-league rotation. Cabrera's imminent return is welcome news for a Miami rotation that will be without Eury Perez (elbow) for the rest of the season when he undergoes Tommy John surgery Monday.

The Tigers added Manning to the active roster to start Thursday's nightcap against the Mets.

Manning gave up one earned run over five innings during his first start of the year in Triple-A, and he'll now get a chance to make his first MLB appearance of the year after failing to make the Tigers' rotation out of spring training. Manning will most likely return to Triple-A Toledo after Thursday's game.
