  • Chase Meidroth SS | CHW

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Idle Wednesday

Meidroth (thumb) isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.

Meidroth will miss a fifth consecutive start after getting hit on his right thumb by a pitch last Wednesday, though the White Sox still don't seem to plan on putting him on the injured list. Lenyn Sosa will cover second base while Meidroth takes another day to recover.

  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Sitting after four straight starts

Walls is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls will head to the bench after he went 2-for-12 with a walk, a stolen base, an RBI and two runs while starting in each of the past four games. Though the Rays have both Brandon Lowe and Ha-Seong Kim healthy for one of the few times all season, Walls could continue to see semi-regular opportunities in the middle infield if Lowe ends up getting more exposure to first base while Jonathan Aranda (wrist) is on the shelf.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Taking seat Wednesday

Pena is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Miami.

According to Chandler Rome of The Athletic, manager Joe Espada said that Pena will get a scheduled day off as "part of his buildup" after the shortstop recently overcame rib and hamstring injuries. Espada added that he expects Pena to resume handling an everyday role in the Astros' series against the Yankees this weekend. Houston will turn to Mauricio Dubon to start at shortstop in Pena's stead Wednesday.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Absent from lineup

Baez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's tilt against the Twins.

Baez had been slated for a day off Tuesday before being inserted to the lineup after Gleyber Torres (forearm) was scratched. Instead, Baez will get his breather Wednesday while Zach McKinstry plays shortstop and Matt Vierling handles center field.

  • Darell Hernaiz SS | ATH

Athletics' Darell Hernaiz: Leaves yard Tuesday

Hernaiz went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, a walk and three RBI in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.

Hernaiz left the yard for the second time in six games since being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas to take the Jacob Wilson's (forearm) spot at shortstop. Hernaiz has now recorded a hit in five of six games and has not struck out over 22 at-bats. Hernaiz should continue to get a lot of at-bats with Wilson's timeline to return still unclear.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Fuels win with three RBI

Story went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Royals.

The shortstop broke open a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning with a two-run single, before adding another RBI knock in the seventh. Story has been able to stay healthy in 2025, and the production has followed -- his 72 RBI through 111 games represent his highest totals in both categories since 2021, his last season as a Rockie, and Story sits two homers and one steal away from his fourth career 20-20 campaign.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Smacks eighth homer

Montgomery went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 8-3 loss to the Mariners.

All eight of those homers have come over his last 12 games dating back to July 22 versus the Rays. The infield prospect struggled a bit initially when he joined the major-league roster, but he's taken little time to find a groove. He's now batting .256 and slugging .567 with 24 RBI, 12 runs scored and no stolen bases across his first 26 contests. Montgomery has helped fill in for Chase Meidroth (thumb) at shortstop, but there should be room for Montgomery in the lineup on a near-everyday basis even when the White Sox have a fully healthy infield.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Not starting Tuesday

Kim isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

After going 3-for-14 with two walks in four games since his return from the injured list, Kim will grab a seat on the bench Tuesday while Taylor Walls starts at shortstop.

  • Chase Meidroth SS | CHW

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Out again Tuesday

Meidroth (thumb) isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Seattle.

Despite entering Sunday's contest as a defensive replacement, Meidroth seemingly still isn't quite ready to return to the starting nine after taking a pitch off his thumb last week. Josh Rojas will pick up another start at second base as a result while Brooks Baldwin covers third.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Starting after lineup adjustment

Baez is starting at shortstop and batting eighth Tuesday versus the Twins.

Gleyber Torres was slated to start at second base Tuesday, but he was scratched from the lineup due to left forearm tightness. Zach McKinstry is the starting second baseman after being originally set to start at short.
