Dee Strange-Gordon SS | WAS
Mariners' Dee Gordon: Hits bench with shoulder issue Sunday
Gordon is not in the lineup Sunday, Alyson Footer of MLB.com reports.
This news didn't raise any alarms given that the Astros are trotting lefty Dallas Keuchel to the mound for the series finale. However, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports that Gordon is actually dealing with a shoulder injury incurred during a slide in Saturday's game. He's available off the bench Sunday, but the Mariners may opt to be careful with him since they're getting All-Star second baseman Robinson Cano (suspension) back Tuesday. In the meantime, Andrew Romine will fill in at the keystone.

Xander Bogaerts SS | SD
Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Held out Sunday
Bogaerts is not in the lineup Sunday against the Orioles, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
There were reports that the young shortstop could need X-rays following Saturday's doubleheader, and they proved to be true. Bill Koch of the Providence Journal reports that Bogaerts' X-rays came back negative, showing he just has a jammed left pinkie finger. He's available off the bench, but to start, Brock Holt will assume shortstop duties.

Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: May need X-rays
Bogaerts was seen walking with a team trainer after Saturday's second doubleheader game and was expected to have an X-ray, but he later said he was fine, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
Abraham's report on Bogaerts' reaction to the testing didn't seem to raise much urgency over the matter, but given Bogaerts' recent troubles with wrist soreness from being hit by a pitch, it's easy to be concerned either way. The team should release more details in the near future.

Willy Adames SS | SF
Rays' Willy Adames: Records two hits, steals bag
Adames went 2-for-4 with an RBI groundout, a run scored and a stolen base in a win over the Blue Jays on Saturday.
August has been kind to the rookie: Adames is 13-for-33 (.394) with two homers since July ended. His .243/.292/.372 season-long line hides how he's been clicking with more major-league reps, and the 22-year-old deserves a spot in deeper lineups while he's rolling.

Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU
Blue Jays' Aledmys Diaz: Provides sole run with solo homer
Diaz went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Saturday during the Blue Jays' loss to the Rays.
The infielder lined a laser over the left-field wall in the fifth inning for his only hit and the Jays' only tally of the afternoon. Diaz has now homered four times in only 32 August at-bats in August -- as well as eight times in his last 81 at-bats overall -- and may be starting to find utility in some mixed leagues.

Xander Bogaerts SS | SD
Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Belts out three hits
Bogaerts went 3-for-4 with a stolen bases and two runs in the first game of a doubleheader against the Orioles on Saturday.
Bogaerts now has steals on back-to-back days, bringing his season total up to five. He's slashing .278/.354/.515 this year, and that slugging percentage blows away his career high of .446, set back in 2016, while his on-base percentage is nearing his career-high .356, also from 2016.

Joey Wendle 2B | ATL
Rays' Joey Wendle: Drives in three in win
Wendle went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly and a two-run double in a win over the Orioles on Friday.
The versatile infielder continues to deliver at the plate while also providing manager Kevin Cash with considerable flexibility due to his ability to fill in around the infield. Wendle has taken an already solid offensive season up a couple of notches since July 1, a 29-game stretch during which he's slashing .367/.438/.582 across 112 plate appearances.

Carlos Correa SS | HOU
Astros' Carlos Correa: Hitless in return
Correa went 0-for-3 with a walk in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Mariners.
Correa was activated off the disabled list Friday and made his first appearance after missing 36 games due to a back injury. It's probably wise to expect some period of adjustment for the slugging shortstop, whose .825 OPS is well off last season's pace of .941. His production should also begin to align with his career norms once the Astros get Jose Altuve (knee) and George Springer (thumb) back from injury.

Ehire Adrianza 3B | LAA
Twins' Ehire Adrianza: Three hits in loss to Tigers
Adrianza went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Tigers.
He'd been mired in a 1-for-22 slump since the All-Star break, so Friday's outburst was a welcome one for the 28-year-old utility man. While Logan Forsythe is off to a great start to his Twins tenure and is solidifying his hold on the second base job, Adrianza should continue to fill in a few times a week all around the infield.

Willy Adames SS | SF
Rays' Willy Adames: Three-hit night with three runs
Adames went 3-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base, two doubles and three runs scored in Friday's win over the Blue Jays.
Adames slashed his third and fourth doubles of the year and logged his third stolen base in Friday's contest. Adames has now recorded a hit in four consecutive games, bringing his slash line to .236/.287/.368 on the year. The young rookie has five home runs, 14 RBI and 20 runs in 43 games this season.
