  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Joins exclusive club

De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with a walk, a home run, three RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 11-7 win over Toronto.

De La Cruz's fifth-inning steal was his 60th of the season, making him just the fifth player since 1900 to record at least 20 home runs and steal 60 bases in a season -- a club that Ronald Acuna (knee) joined last season and which also includes Hall of Famers Rickey Henderson and Joe Morgan, as well as former Reds star Eric Davis. De La Cruz later belted a solo home run in the eighth inning, his 22nd of the year. The 22-year-old was sitting at 59 steals for the previous 11 games, a stretch during which he went 6-for-42 with a .196 OBP.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Swats second homer

Perdomo went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional run and a double in Wednesday's 10-8 win against Miami.

Perdomo entered Wednesday with just one homer through 63 games, but he displayed some unexpected power to provide an insurance run with a solo blast in the eighth inning. The long ball was the infielder's first extra-base hit of any sort over his past 10 games, though he's been reaching base consistently of late with six hits and three walks across his past 20 plate appearances. Perdomo's overall .281 batting average on the campaign is on pace for a career-best mark.

  • Masyn Winn SS | STL

Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Knocks three hits Wednesday

Winn went 3-for-6 with one RBI and one run scored in Wednesday's 10-6 extra-inning win over the Brewers.

This was Winn's third multi-hit effort over his last six games, a stretch that follows a three-game slump. The shortstop is batting .264 (19-for-72) with four home runs and four doubles over 17 contests in August. He's up to a .277/.326/.419 slash line with 11 home runs, 10 stolen bases, 44 RBI and 60 runs scored over 117 games this season while continuing to thrive as the Cardinals' leadoff hitter.

  • Orlando Arcia SS | ATL

Braves' Orlando Arcia: Homers in loss

Arcia went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to Philadelphia.

Arcia snapped a 16-game homerless drought when he opened the scoring with a fourth-inning blast off Aaron Nola. That long ball was all Atlanta could put on the scoreboard Wednesday. Arcia is batting just .235 (16-for-68) over 19 contests in August, just modestly better than his .226 average for the year. He's added a .630 OPS, 12 homers, 36 RBI, 35 runs scored, 19 doubles and no stolen bases over 121 contests.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Managing hamstring issue

Rojas was scratched from the Dodgers' lineup prior to Wednesday's game against the Mariners due to a flareup of a left hamstring injury, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Manager Dave Roberts said the decision to take Rojas out of the lineup was precautionary, and he expects the 35-year-old shortstop to return to the lineup Friday against the Rays following Thursday's scheduled off day. Tommy Edman will get the starting nod at shortstop while Rojas rests, opening up center field for Kevin Kiermaier.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Smacks 25th home run

Lindor went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Orioles.

Lindor opened the scoring in the third inning Wednesday, leading off the frame with an opposite-field blast off Cole Irvin, his 25th homer of the year. Lindor now has at least 25 homers and 25 steals in back-to-back seasons and three times in his 10-year MLB career. The shortstop has been red hot, going 23-for-64 (.359) with a 1.006 OPS over his last 15 contests. Lindor's boosted his slash line to .266/.339/.477 on the campaign with 85 runs scored and 73 RBI across 579 plate appearances.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

    Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Scratched Wednesday

Rojas was scratched from the lineup ahead of Wednesday's game versus Seattle, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

It's unclear exactly why Rojas was taken out of the starting nine, but the Dodgers should provide more information relatively soon. In the meantime, Tommy Edman will move to shortstop while Kevin Kiermaier starts in center field.

  • Mason McCoy SS | SD

Padres' Mason McCoy: Returns to big leagues

The Padres selected McCoy's contract from Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

McCoy will reach the big leagues for the second time in his career after previously getting a cup of coffee with the Blue Jays late in the 2023 season. The 29-year-old has enjoyed a decent season at El Paso with a .260/.329/.382 slash line and 25 stolen bases over 432 plate appearances, though it comes with the caveat that he's much older than most of his competition and has done most of his damage at hitter-friendly ballparks. McCoy is capable of playing both middle-infield spots and will give the Padres another option at shortstop while Ha-Seong Kim (shoulder) is on the shelf, though Tyler Wade looks like he'll be first in line to replace Kim in the everyday lineup.

  • Kevin Newman 3B | LAA

Diamondbacks' Kevin Newman: Heading to bench Wednesday

Newman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

Newman will hit the bench for the series finale after he had occupied the keystone for each of the Diamondbacks' last four contests while going 3-for-15 at the plate. With Ketel Marte (ankle) on the shelf, the Diamondbacks will have a regular spot at second base open for the foreseeable future, but it's unclear if manager Torey Lovullo has settled on Newman as the primary option. The Diamondbacks signed Luis Guillorme on Tuesday, and he'll check into the lineup at second base a day later for what will be his team debut. Guillorme bats from the left side, so the Diamondbacks could have him fill the strong side of a platoon with the right-handed-hitting Newman.

  • Oneil Cruz SS | PIT

    Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Showcases speed

Cruz went 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI, a walk and a stolen base Tuesday against the Rangers.

Cruz exited Friday's game after tweaking his ankle but has since started four consecutive games. He's also stolen a pair of bases in that span, suggesting that he is playing at or near full strength. Cruz has also hit well overall since the All-Star break, smacking four home runs while collecting 18 RBI, 15 runs scored and seven stolen bases while maintaining a .311 average.
