Corey Seager SS | TEX
Dodgers' Corey Seager: Resting Saturday
Seager will sit Saturday against the Diamondbacks, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Seager missed two-and-a-half months with a broken right hand before returning to action Friday. He grabbed two hits in that game, but it's no surprise to see that he won't be asked to start two games in a row immediately after such a long absence. It shouldn't be long before he returns to a true everyday role, but it will be Chris Taylor who starts at shortstop Saturday.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Mets' Javier Baez: Making Mets debut Saturday
Baez will bat cleanup and play shortstop Saturday against the Reds, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Baez figures to be the Mets' everyday shortstop until Francisco Lindor (oblique) returns, at which point he'll likely fill the starting second base role. The 28-year-old had a .248/.292/.484 slash line in 91 games with Chicago this season.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Dodgers' Corey Seager: Tallies two hits in return
Seager went 2-for-5 in Friday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
The shortstop showed little rust in his return from a broken right hand that cost him over 10 weeks of action. He reached base on an error in his first trip to the plate, then laced singles in the sixth and ninth innings. Seager is expected to be out of the lineup Saturday, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, but he'll no doubt return to a near-everyday role moving forward.

Orlando Arcia SS | MIN
Braves' Orlando Arcia: Optioned to minors
Atlanta optioned Arcia to Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.
The shortstop-turned-outfielder has hit an unremarkable .204 with two home runs and seven RBI in 17 games with Atlanta. Arcia is no longer needed for outfield depth now that sluggers Jorge Soler and Adam Duvall are with the team and active. It remains to be seen whether Arcia will get any more opportunities with the big-league club this season.

Tommy Edman 2B | LAD
Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Knocks in three
Edman went 1-for-2 with a double, three RBI, a stolen base and a walk in Friday's 5-1 win over the Twins.
Edman came up with the game's biggest hit, belting a bases-loaded double in the sixth inning to clear the bags and break a 1-1 tie. The double was his fourth in his past five contests and extended his hitting streak to nine games. Edman is slashing a modest .257/.303/.376 on the season, but he has collected a career-high 18 steals through 101 contests.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Braves' Dansby Swanson: Swipes bag in loss
Swanson went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 9-5 loss to Milwaukee.
The slugging shortstop displayed some speed with his seventh stolen base in 10 attempts. Swanson has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, going 13-for-39 (.333) with two home runs, eight RBI and six runs scored in that span. He's posted a .753 OPS with 18 homers, 50 RBI and 47 runs scored through 429 plate appearances overall.

Willy Adames SS | SF
Brewers' Willy Adames: Stays hot at plate
Adames went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double, a walk and two total runs scored in Friday's 9-5 win over Atlanta.
The shortstop's recent surge continued, as he has gone 8-for-21 (.381) during his current five-game hitting streak. Adames has a .262/.341/.481 slash line across 393 plate appearances this season, but he's been impressive with a .938 OPS since he joined Milwaukee in May. He's up to 17 homers, 56 RBI, 55 runs scored, three stolen bases and 24 doubles in 101 games.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Rockies' Trevor Story: Scratched from lineup
Story was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Padres for rest purposes, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
Story will remain with the Rockies following Friday's trade deadline, but he'll get a day off after he was initially listed as the starting shortstop. Brendan Rodgers will shift to shortstop while Connor Joe enters the lineup in left field.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Mets' Javier Baez: Trade to Mets official
Baez's trade from the Cubs to the Mets was finalized Friday afternoon, with Trevor Williams joining him in New York in exchange for Pete Crow-Armstrong.
He's expected to join the Mets' lineup Saturday, and it'll be interesting to see where they slot him in. Baez mostly hit third or fourth for the Cubs, but the Mets could use his wheels near the top of their lineup. Of course, he also has a .292 OBP and the highest strikeout rate in baseball. Either way, this move reflects an improvement in Baez's statistical fortunes, especially given that Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo just got shipped out of Chicago, too.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Dodgers' Corey Seager: Back in action Friday
Seager (hand) was activated and will start at shortstop Friday against the Diamondbacks, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
The Dodgers have amassed a super team since Seager last played, but he will have to wait until Trea Turner is activated from the COVID-19 injured list before forming one of the most dynamic double-play duos in recent memory. Seager has been out since May 15 with a broken hand and is hitting .265/.361/.422 on the season.
