Mets' Javier Baez: Exits Sunday with injury

Baez was removed in the fifth inning of Sunday's game against the Phillies due to an apparent side injury, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. He went hitless in two at-bats before departing.

The Mets will likely provide a firmer diagnosis of Baez's injury later Sunday, but the infielder looked to be grabbing at his side when he attempted to run out of the batter's box during a groundout in the top of the fifth inning, according to SportsNet New York. J.D. Davis came off the bench to replace Baez in the bottom of the fifth.

Brewers' Willy Adames: Receives rare breather

Adames is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Adames is getting his first day off since June 16, ending a streak of 43 consecutive starts during which he slashed an impressive .307/.395/.608 with 12 home runs, one stolen base, 34 runs and 31 RBI. Luis Urias is spelling Adames at shortstop.

Dodgers' Trea Turner: Swipes first bag as Dodger

Turner went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Angels.

Turner made his first start for Los Angeles after being acquired from Washington at the trade deadline. He led off for the Dodgers and played second base, with Corey Seager remaining in his customary shortstop role. Turner flashed his MLB-best sprint speed in the contest, scoring from first base on a first-inning Max Muncy double and notching a theft in the fifth. Turner ranks fourth in baseball this season in both steals (22) and batting average (.321).

Brewers' Willy Adames: Reaches 20-homer mark

Adames went 2-for-5 with a home run and a double Saturday against San Francisco.

Adames doubled home Kolten Wong to open the scoring in the third inning, then he tied the game at 5-5 in the 10th when he turned a Jarlin Garcia offering into his 20th home run of the season. Adames has cracked five extra-base hits in six games since the calendar flipped to August, good for a robust .720 slugging percentage during that stretch. For the season, the 25-year-old shortstop is hitting .260/.335/.491 while driving in 60 runs across 424 plate appearances.

Dodgers' Trea Turner: Batting leadoff Saturday

Turner is batting leadoff and playing second base Saturday against the Angels, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Dodgers' Trea Turner: Fouls out in team debut

Turner entered Friday's loss to the Angels as a pinch hitter and fouled out in his only plate appearance.

The newly-acquired infielder was activated from the COVID-19 injured list earlier in the day but was held out of the starting lineup. He came on as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning, however, and lofted a long fly ball to left field that went foul. On the next pitch he saw, Turner popped out to the catcher to complete his first plate appearance with Los Angeles. He is expected to take over as the Dodgers' primary second baseman moving forward.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Resumes swinging

Lindor (oblique) has resumed swinging recently, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

Lindor participated in fielding work at the end of July, and it's encouraging that he's been able to pick up a bat. However, the 27-year-old said Saturday that he still doesn't have a timetable to return. He's been on the injured list for three weeks and initially carries a recovery timeline of 3-to-5 weeks, but he still isn't particularly close to rejoining the Mets.

  • Nick Ahmed SS | TEX

Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Knocks in three

Ahmed went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI in Friday's win over the Padres.

The shortstop helped Arizona get on the board with a third-inning run-scoring double and knocked in another run with a single in the following frame. Ahmed has clubbed a double in each of his past four games and has gone 6-for-17 over that stretch to push his season average up to .225.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Dodgers' Trea Turner: Activated by Dodgers

Turner was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Friday.

Although Turner isn't starting Friday's game against the Angels, he's with the club at Dodger Stadium and could be available to make his team debut off the bench. The 28-year-old is expected to serve as the Dodgers' primary second baseman now that he's back to full health, while Corey Seager will continue to play at shortstop.

Dodgers' Trea Turner: Not starting Friday, but with team

Turner (COVID-19) is not in Friday's lineup against the Angels, but he posted a video on his Instagram account signifying that he has arrived at Dodger Stadium, Blake Harris of True Blue LA reports.

The team said he would probably make his Dodgers debut Friday or Saturday, and while he is not in Friday's lineup, it seems likely he will play during this weekend's series. He could even be available off the bench Friday, but he has not yet been officially activated.
