Jon Berti 3B | CHC
Marlins' Jon Berti: Sitting Saturday
Berti is not in Saturday's lineup against the Braves, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
He is hitting .361 with zero home runs and four steals in 36 at-bats in August. Deven Marrero will start at shortstop and bat eighth.

Tommy Edman 2B | LAD
Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Laces three-bagger in victory
Edman went 2-for-4 with a triple in a win over the Pirates on Friday.
Edman snapped out of a 3-for-26 slump that had encompassed his previous seven games with the three-bagger. The 24-year-rookie has generated 13 extra-base hits (six doubles, three triples and four home runs) over his first 151 plate appearances, solid numbers he's complemented with six stolen bases and 19 runs overall.

C.J. Abrams SS | WAS
Padres' CJ Abrams: Diagnosed with bone bruise
Abrams is likely to miss two weeks after tests on his shoulder indicated a bone bruise, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Abrams injured his shoulder Wednesday night while diving into a bag and headed to San Diego for tests soon thereafter. The sixth overall pick in the 2019 draft hit .401 in 142 at-bats in rookie ball before he was promoted to Low-A Fort Wayne on Tuesday.

Orlando Arcia SS | MIN
Brewers' Orlando Arcia: Out of Friday's lineup
Arcia is not in Friday's lineup against the Rangers.
The Brewers just purchased the contract of Hernan Perez earlier in the day and he will get plugged right in at shortstop, batting eighth. Arcia slumped for most of July, but has heated up of late, hitting .324 with zero home runs, one steal, seven strikeouts and zero walks over his last 34 at-bats.

Jon Berti 3B | CHC
Marlins' Jon Berti: Stays hot in win
Berti went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI in Thursday's win over Atlanta.
It's his fifth multi-hit performance in eight games since coming off the IL at the end of July. Berti's hitting an eye-popping .412 (14-for-34) over that stretch with three steals, six extra-base hits (five doubles and a triple), five runs and five RBI, but his 0:8 BB:K suggests he could cool down at any moment. Even so, with Miguel Rojas (hamstring) on the shelf, Berti is in line for regular playing time at shortstop and as Miami's leadoff hitter, and he could provide a short-term fantasy boost until he crashes back to earth.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Braves' Dansby Swanson: Return not imminent
General manager Alex Anthopoulos said Swanson (foot) isn't close to returning, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
The Braves want to make sure Swanson is completely healed before reinstating the shortstop from the injured list. He's apparently still resting after his recovery stalled over the weekend, and the fact that he's not putting a lot of stress on his injured foot suggests a return is far from imminent. Johan Camargo and Charlie Culberson should continue to fill in for Swanson.
-
Johan Camargo SS | SF
Braves' Johan Camargo: Out of lineup Thursday
Camargo is not in the starting lineup Thursday against the Marlins.
Charlie Culberson will start at shortstop and hit eighth against right-hander Elieser Hernandez. Camargo will rest for the second time in three days after making 12 consecutive starts. The 25-year-old switch-hitter is just 2-for-17 in his last five starts and is slashing .230/.274/.331 against righties.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Cubs' Javier Baez: Won't miss start
Baez (leg) is starting at shortstop and hitting fifth Thursday against the Reds.
Baez exited Wednesday's game against the Athletics after fouling a ball off his leg, but his presence in the lineup for Thursday's series opener suggests his removal was simply precautionary. The shortstop is in the midst of a six-game hitting streak -- going 11-for-23 with three home runs, a stolen base and nine RBI during that stretch -- and will look to keep things rolling Thursday against lefty Alex Wood.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Rockies' Trevor Story: Launches 26th homer
Story went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 14-3 loss to the Astros.
The shortstop took Gerrit Cole deep in the first inning -- the last time the Rockies would hold a lead in the rout -- to give Story four homers in his last five games and 26 on the year. The surge has pushed the 26-year-old's slash line up to .282/.347/.562 on the season.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Cubs' Javier Baez: Exits after fouling ball off leg
Baez left Wednesday's game against the Athletics after fouling a ball off his leg, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Baez was able to complete his at-bat but did not take the field for the following half-inning. The Cubs owned an eight-run lead when he left the game, so it's possible the team was simply being overly cautious with one of its starters. An update on the nature and severity of his injury should come after the game.
