Paul DeJong SS | DET
Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Knocks in three in win
DeJong went 2-for-4 with a two-run single, an RBI double and a run in a win over the Brewers on Saturday.
The 25-year-old's bat continues to show signs of life as August unfolds, as he's now hit safely in 10 of his last 12 games. DeJong has been putting good wood on the ball all month as well, with nine of his 14 hits impressively going for extra bases. DeJong has easily blown by the modest seven RBI he compiled in July, already having doubled up that figure a little over halfway through the current month. The surge is welcome for the shortstop, whose .242/.321/.440 line for the season still falls short of the expectations he set with an excellent rookie 2017 campaign.

Miguel Rojas SS | LAD
Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Still on bench Sunday
Rojas (ankle) is still on the bench Sunday against the Nationals, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
Rojas exited Monday's game against the Braves with an ankle bruise and has not been in the lineup since. It's unclear whether that's completely injury-related or if he's simply been dropped from the starting lineup in favor of J.T. Riddle, as he's appeared off the bench on three occasions.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Braves' Dansby Swanson: Not starting Sunday
Swanson is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.
Swanson is hitting .296 with a pair of homers in his last eight games. He'll sit Sunday, though, with Charlie Culberson starting at shortstop.

Trea Turner SS | PHI
Nationals' Trea Turner: Swats 15th homer
Turner went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's 7-5 extra-inning loss to the Marlins.
The homer was his 15th of the year, as Turner pads his career high in that category. His .268/.336/.413 slash line is a little disappointing given his career .289 batting average, but he still has about six weeks to bring it up, and the rest of his numbers remain excellent.

Miguel Rojas SS | LAD
Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Remains out Saturday
Rojas (ankle) isn't in Saturday's starting lineup against the Nationals, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.
Rojas is set to miss his fourth straight contest due to a left ankle bruise suffered Monday against Atlanta. He did manage to pinch hit Wednesday, but he doesn't appear to have returned to health just yet. More news on his status should emerge in the near future.

Nick Ahmed SS | TEX
Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Ejected from series opener
Ahmed was ejected from Friday's game against the Padres after arguing balls and strikes, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Ahmed wasn't pleased with the strike zone, and he was tossed in the third inning after giving the home plate umpire an earful. He went 1-for-2 prior to being tossed from the ballgame. Ahmed was replaced at shortstop by Daniel Descalso.

Miguel Rojas SS | LAD
Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Held out Friday
Rojas (ankle) is not in the lineup against Washington on Friday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
Rojas will remain on the bench for the third straight game after suffering a left ankle bruise during the nightcap of Monday's doubleheader. He was able to make a pinch-hitting appearance Wednesday, which likely indicates that he will not require a stint on the DL, but manager Don Mattingly continues to stress caution with the infielder. In his absence, JT Riddle will draw another start.

Nick Ahmed SS | TEX
Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Whiffs four times
Ahmed struck out four times and drew a walk Thursday in the Diamondbacks' 5-1 win over the Padres.
The shortstop had struck out just twice in the Diamondbacks' last eight games combined, making it all the more surprising that he donned the golden sombrero Thursday. The ugly night at the dish won't diminish what has been a career-best campaign for Ahmed, whose 16 home runs have nearly doubled up his previous high in the category. He has been in the midst of a power outage lately, however, supplying only two extra-base hits -- both doubles -- over his past 10 contests.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Cubs' Javier Baez: Remains leadoff hitter Thursday
Baez will hit atop the order and start at second base against Pittsburgh on Thursday.
Baez will serve as the Cubs' leadoff hitter for the second straight game after going 2-for-5 with a triple and one run scored during Wednesday's victory over the Brewers. Anthony Rizzo will stay in the cleanup spot with David Bote batting third.

Miguel Rojas SS | LAD
Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Makes pinch-hit appearance
Rojas (ankle) entered Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Braves as a pinch-hitter, lining out to left field in his lone at-bat.
Rojas has been withheld from the Miami lineup the past two days while nursing a left ankle bruise, which he sustained in the second half of Monday's doubleheader against Atlanta. The fact that he was at least able to contribute as a pinch-hitter Wednesday suggests that Rojas will likely avoid the disabled list. He'll vie for starts at shortstop with JT Riddle once he returns to full strength.
