Chris Owings SS | LAD
Diamondbacks' Chris Owings: Held out Friday
Owings (head) is not in the lineup for Friday's game against San Diego, Jody Jackson of Fox Sports Arizona reports.
Owings remains on the bench after suffering a head contusion during Thursday's game against San Francisco. Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports that he did pass the concussion protocol, so he will be available off the bench if needed and should be good to start future contests.

Johan Camargo SS | SF
Braves' Johan Camargo: Still not starting
Camargo is not in the lineup Friday against the Mets.
Camargo has been back from the disabled list for three games but has yet to start a game. He's made two pinch-hit appearances, so he seems to be ready to play, but Ryan Flaherty is hitting well (.352/.453/.481 through 16 games) so the Braves are in no rush to get Camargo back into the lineup. Camargo is much younger than Flaherty, but he was never a particularly promising prospect, so the Braves won't be desperate to get him as much playing time as possible.

J.P. Crawford SS | SEA
Phillies' J.P. Crawford: Bat heating up
Crawford is hitting .360/.407/.680 over his past eight games after starting the season with one hit in his first seven contests.
Crawford was supposed to have a solid but unspectacular bat, with most of his value coming from his glove and his on-base ability. His career numbers through his first 140 major-league plate appearances sit at .212/.319/.331. It's a slightly disappointing line but it's not terribly far from what he's expected to do. A player like Crawford, who's always had a good feel for hitting and an excellent approach, could easily add something more to his game as he matures, though, and this hot stretch could be the start of that. It's a very small sample, but the 23-year-old has been working to shorten his swing, according to The Athletic Philadelphia, so it's possible that this hot streak is just the beginning of a new and improved Crawford.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Braves' Dansby Swanson: Goes 1-for-4 with RBI
Swanson went 1-for-4 with an RBI double and a strikeout in Thursday's win over the Mets.
The double came when the game was already out of hand, but Swanson still put a solid swing on the ball, which is something he's done more often than not in 2018. Though his numbers will regress when his .434 BABIP returns to the mean, the 24-year-old seems to have made major strides against right-handed pitching, as he owns a .361 average in 61 at-bats against righties, which is light years better than his .224 clip in 393 at-bats from the year before. With the success of Atlanta's offense in mind, ride Swanson for as long as he continues to mash.

Chris Owings SS | LAD
Diamondbacks' Chris Owings: Dealing with head contusion
Owings was diagnosed with a head contusion after Thursday's win over the Giants, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Manager Torey Lovullo told reporters after the game that the early signs suggest Owings avoided a concussion. Owings suffered the injury colliding with A.J. Pollock in the outfield and taking a knee to the forehead. If he's held out of the lineup Friday, Jarrod Dyson would likely take his place in right field.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Cubs' Javier Baez: Triples, scores twice Thursday
Baez went 2-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Cardinals.
After a bit of a slow start to the season, Baez is now 6-for-14 over his past three games to get his average up to a respectable .250. The young infielder also has a strong 1.023 OPS and five home runs, showing his tremendous power potential. Baez might still be a bit streaky at times, but he's an electric player when he's on, and he's on right now.

Chris Owings SS | LAD
Diamondbacks' Chris Owings: Leaves after outfield collision Thursday
Owings was removed from Thursday's game after colliding with A.J. Pollock in the outfield, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
The two collided on a Joe Panik line drive and Owings took the brunt of the impact, getting a knee to his forehead area. Jarrod Dyson will take over for Owings for the rest of Thursday's game and there should be more information on Owings' exact injury before first pitch Friday.

Nick Ahmed SS | TEX
Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Ends three-game hit drought
Ahmed went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored Wednesday in the Diamondbacks' 4-3 loss to the Giants in 10 innings.
The double is already Ahmed's sixth extra-base hit in 14 games this season, boosting his slugging percentage to a career-best .438. However, much of that power production came in the Diamondbacks' first four games of the season, with the shortstop having largely struggled at the dish ever since returning from a brief absence earlier this month due to an illness. Over his past 10 starts, Ahmed has managed only three hits in 31 at-bats (.097 average), which has dimmed the luster of his hot start to the campaign.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Dodgers' Corey Seager: Collects four hits Wednesday
Seager went 4-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 13-4 drubbing of the Padres.
Seager's four-hit day raised his batting average over 40 points, but he still owns a disappointing .254/.321/.338 slash line after enduring a slow start due to an elbow injury. It is still early, and the slugging shortstop has posted high-level totals for his position over the past couple of seasons. Seager's .288 BABIP is well below his .352 career mark, and he is making strong contact (55.0% medium-hit rate and 35.0% hard-hit rate) while striking out less than usual (14.1% K%), so better days at the plate are likely ahead for the 23-year-old.

Johan Camargo SS | SF
Braves' Johan Camargo: Activated from DL
Camargo (oblique) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Wednesday.
Camargo has been battling an oblique injury all season, but he's finally ready to join the Braves after having his initial return date pushed back multiple times. The 24-year-old appeared in 10 minor-league rehab games with Triple-A Gwinnett and High-A Modesto, going 11-for-41 (.268) with three homers. That included a 3-for-5 showing Wednesday. While he'll be in uniform for the Braves, Ryan Flaherty will remain in the lineup as the team's starting third baseman. It's unclear how the Braves initially plan to deploy Camargo, as they may ultimately choose to ease him back into action with Flaherty playing well as the stand-in third baseman.
