  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

Cardinals' Aledmys Diaz: Homers Wednesday in win at Wrigley

Diaz went 3-for-4 with his a two-run homer, one walk and scored twice against the Cubs on Wednesday.

His ninth home run of the season was a two-run blast in the sixth that practically put the game away. Entering the series, the rookie shortstop's average has dipped below .300 for the first time all season. He's now back up to .310 after going 6-for-11 with three walks, three RBI and three runs in the set at Wrigley.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Braves' Dansby Swanson: Collects two hits in Southern League All-Star Game

Swanson had two hits and scored a run in three at-bats during the Southern League All-Star Game Tuesday.

Since being promoted to Double-A on April 30, the Braves' top prospect has hit only .242 in 44 games with the Mississippi Braves. Swanson looks to need more seasoning in the minors and doesn't seem likely to reach the majors this season, especially with fellow shortstop Ozzie Albies ahead of him at Triple-A Gwinnett.

  • Ehire Adrianza 3B | LAA

Giants' Ehire Adrianza: Wants to begin rehab games next week

Adrianza (foot) will begin running in a couple days and should start his rehab assignment before the end of July, Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Adrianza estimated that he will need around 10 to 12 rehab games to "get his timing back." The utility infielder fouled a ball off of his foot in a game April 14 and hasn't played since, as he was diagnosed with a fractured left foot. He could return just before the All-Star break begins, but will most likely return to the club afterwards, around July 15.

  • Phillies' Taylor Featherston: Productive at Triple-A

Featherston is hitting .280/.328/.480 with nine home runs and a stolen base in 250 at-bats for Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Featherston, 26, failed to impress as a Rule 5 pick with the Angels last season, and was unable to win a bench job with the Phillies this spring. He's been solid at Lehigh Valley, where he has cut down on his strikeout rate and is showing decent pop with his bat. The Phillies are getting little offensively from second base and shortstop, so they could give Featherston a look at some point this summer.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Rockies' Trevor Story: Smacks 11th road homer

Story went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk in Monday's 5-3 victory at Miami.

Story continues to prove that he's much more than just a Coors Field product, with 11 of his 18 homers and 27 of his 46 RBI coming on the road. While much of that power is due to an early-season surge, the shortstop's average has actually crept up every month. Expect the rookie to remain a relevant option at an offensively-starved position even if he's unable to keep hitting long balls at this pace.

  • Gavin Cecchini SS | NYM

Mets' Gavin Cecchini: PCL Player of the Week

Cecchini was named the Pacific Coast Player of the Week.

Cecchini used to be known for his defense, but his game has done a 180-degree, where his offense is less in question that his defense. He is up to .328/.393/.460 in 51 games for Triple-A Las Vegas, aided by the 51s hitters park. In addition, his contact rate has jumped to 87% while his BABIP is .363, though those two numbers are in line with what he posted at Double-A Binghamton. Cecchini should clearly be in line for a September call up.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Dodgers' Corey Seager: Collects two hits Sunday

Seager went 2-for-4 with a double Sunday against the Brewers.

Seager was the only Dodger to collect more than one hit in a game they were able to squeak out by a 2-1 margin. He's now hit safely in four straight games to raise his batting average to .280.

  • Nick Ahmed SS | TEX

Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Hits homer as part of three-hit day

Ahmed went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in Saturday's 4-1 victory over the Phillies.

The 26-year-old did his damage out of the bottom of the order, tallying his second multi-hit game of June, with the first one also having been a three-hit effort back on June 10. Ahmed is still struggling at the plate overall but is picking it up a bit this month, now slashing .261/.271/.413 over 46 at-bats. His homer also represented the first time he'd gone deep since way back on April 13.

  • Chris Owings SS | LAD

Diamondbacks' Chris Owings: Scheduled for rehab assignment

Owings (foot) is expected to begin a rehab assignment this week, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

The Diamondbacks will return to Arizona next week, and the team is hopeful Owings will be healthy enough to make a return at that point. While the team travels to Toronto and Colorado, Owings will get reps in Arizona League games.

  • Orlando Arcia SS | MIN

Brewers' Orlando Arcia: Taking reps at second base

Arcia has started taking reps at second base with Triple-A Colorado Springs, although general manager David Stearns still views him as a shortstop in the long-term, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

With Jonathan Villar playing unexpectedly well up to this point in the season, it makes sense that the Brewers would look to find a way for Arcia to have value elsewhere, although Stearns continues to say that Arcia is seeing time at second base for developmental reasons, rather than being groomed to take over Scooter Gennett's job. Either way, the Brewers likely envision Arcia in Triple-A for the majority of the season to come, as there's seemingly no rush from the organization to get him up to the majors.
