  • Marco Luciano SS | NYY

Giants' Marco Luciano: Gets bump up to High-A

The Giants promoted Luciano from Low-A San Jose to High-A Eugene on Wednesday.

The No. 1 prospect in the San Francisco organization and one of the top teenage hitters in the minor leagues, Luciano earned his way to Eugene after posting a .373 on-base percentage, 18 home runs and five stolen bases across 308 plate appearances at Low-A. He's unlikely to provide much impact as a base stealer as he rises through the Giants' system, and a move off shortstop could eventually be in the cards, but Luciano's combination of power and plate discipline will give him a chance at stardom once he reaches his prime.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Brewers' Willy Adames: Slugs 19th homer

Adames went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and three runs scored Tuesday against the Pirates.

Adames did the majority of his damage on a home run against Max Kranick. He now has 19 homers on the season, three of which have come in his last five starts. While he's produced plenty of power, Tuesday's effort marks only his third multi-hit effort in his last 13 games. Adames now has a .260/.336/.488 line across 411 plate appearances on the campaign.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Slugs 10th homer

Anderson went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored Tuesday against the Royals.

Anderson began his production with a two-run home run off Kris Bubic in the third inning. He then tacked on a third RBI with a run-scoring single in the seventh inning. Anderson now has 10 homers on the season, though this was his first in his last 12 starts. In that same span, he collected only eight hits across 47 at-bats. For the season, Anderson has a strong .301/.333/.443 line with 40 RBI, 66 runs scored and 16 stolen bases across 399 plate appearances.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Day off Tuesday

Crawford is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Diamondbacks, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

The Giants have enough quality right-handed infield depth that they can afford to give Crawford rest days -- particularly against lefties like Tuesday's starter for Arizona, Madison Bumgarner. Thairo Estrada draws the start at shortstop and will bat sixth.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Padres' Jorge Mateo: Cast off 40-man

Mateo was designated for assignment Tuesday.

He had logged just nine at-bats in 10 games since the start of July, operating primarily as a pinch runner and pinch hitter. Mateo has been unable to have success against MLB pitching and is 26, so he may pass through waivers unclaimed.

  • David Hamilton 3B | MIL

Brewers' David Hamilton: Promoted to Double-A

Hamilton was promoted from High-A Wisconsin to Double-A Biloxi on Tuesday.

One of the fastest players in the minors, Hamilton hit .264/.352/.424 with five home runs and 41 steals on 47 tries in 67 games at High-A. His 18.5 percent strikeout rate and 11.4 percent walk rate were also impressive, but Hamilton turns 24 in September, so he was pretty old for a legitimate prospect at that level. Double-A will be a much more telling test for the lefty-hitting speedster.

  • Paul DeJong SS | DET

Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Sitting second straight

DeJong is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against Atlanta, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

DeJong will sit in favor of Edmundo Sosa for the second game in a row after going hitless in his previous 10 at-bats. The shortstop is hitting just .201/.292/.390 this season, so it wouldn't be shocking if he sees less consistent time down the stretch.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Busy at top of order

Crawford went 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs in a win over the Rays on Monday.

The hot-hitting shortstop continued his recent surge, producing his fourth multi-hit effort in the last seven games. Crawford owns a .323 average and .400 on-base percentage over that sample of 35 plate appearances while striking out at a modest 17.1 percent clip. He's been a short on impactful hits, however, counting a double as his only extra-base knock during that span.

  • Royals' Adalberto Mondesi: Rehab assignment starting up

Mondesi (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Sidelined since June 20 with a strained left oblique, Mondesi is finally ready to move on to the final phase of his recovery program by taking part in minor-league games. Since Mondesi has already spent time on the shelf with two other lower-half injuries this season (a strained right oblique and a strained left hamstring), the Royals could elect to take it slowly with his rehab assignment. According to Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Kansas City, general manager Dayton Moore hinted Monday that once he returns from the 10-day injured list, Mondesi could be subject to more frequent maintenance days as the Royals aim to preserve him from the long haul. Even if he plays only five or six times per week, Mondesi should remain one of the league's top stolen-base threats, assuming his injuries haven't compromised his speed or aggressiveness on the basepaths.

  • Blue Jays' Orelvis Martinez: Bumped up to High-A

The Blue Jays promoted Martinez from Low-A Dunedin to High-A Vancouver on Tuesday, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.

The 19-year-old outfielder has enjoyed a breakout campaign at Dunedin, hitting .279 with 19 home runs over 325 plate appearances. Martinez's 26.2 percent strikeout rate is somewhat worrisome, and he may need to cut that down (or at least not increase it) in order to remain productive against the more advanced pitching at High-A.
