The Cardinals activated DeJong (rib) from the 10-day injured list Thursday.

As anticipated, DeJong will be rejoining the Cardinals ahead of their three-game series in Chicago versus the Cubs, which begins Friday. Though DeJong looked rusty during his recent four-game rehab assignment at Triple-A Memphis with one hit in 10 at-bats, he should immediately take over as the Cardinals' everyday shortstop. Edmundo Sosa will move into more of a utility-infield role as a result.

Story (elbow) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Story spent just under two weeks on the injured list with right elbow inflammation, but he checked out fine ahead of Thursday's matchup against the Marlins and should reclaim his everyday role in the lineup going forward. Prior to his injury, the 28-year-old slashed .255/.322/.424 with five home runs, 23 RBI and eight stolen bases in 50 games. Alan Trejo was sent down to make room for Story on the active roster.

Adames went 4-for-4 with four singles Wednesday in the Brewers' 7-3 loss to the Reds.

Adames' efforts weren't enough for the Brewers to extend their winning streak to six games, but he's undoubtedly provided a much-needed spark to a Milwaukee offense that was struggling mightily prior to his acquisition May 21. Since debuting for Milwaukee a day later, the Brewers have gone 13-4, with Adames slashing an impressive .300/.382/.483 over that 17-game stretch. He'll be in the lineup for Thursday's series finale, manning shortstop and batting fifth.

Anderson went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two stolen bases Wednesday in a loss to the Blue Jays.

The leadoff man extended his modest hitting streak to seven games in the loss. Over that stretch, he has batted .379 (11-for-29) with a home run, six RBI and three steals. Anderson's 12 thefts overall are tied for fourth in the league.

Wendle went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Nationals.

Wendle didn't start the contest, but he came through in the clutch as a pinch hitter with a game-tying eighth-inning solo shot to right field. Wendle produced another big hit in the 10th frame, again driving home the game-tying run with a single. He has already tied his career high with seven homers in 203 plate appearances this season while adding a .288/.350/.500 slash line, 29 RBI and four stolen bases.

Williams went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over Atlanta.

Williams slashed an impressive .352/.439/.465 across 82 plate appearances at Triple-A before going off to help Team USA qualify for the Olympics last week, but he couldn't have asked for a better start to his big-league career after delivering a walkoff hit against reliever Will Smith. Although his sample size of five plate appearances is naturally minuscule, Williams certainly is off to an encouraging start over his first two games.

Boagerts went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a sacrifice fly in Wednesday's 8-3 loss to Houston.

Bogaerts knocked in two of Boston's three runs in the lopsided loss. The shortstop got a day off from playing the field, instead serving as the designated hitter. The 29-year-old is slashing .321/.378/.543 with 11 homers, 38 RBI, 35 runs scored and four stolen bases across 246 plate appearances. He's gone 11-for-27 (.407) during his seven-game hitting streak.

Mondesi (hamstring) took batting practice and did some other work Tuesday, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

Manager Mike Matheny said Mondesi appeared to be moving well. As critical as the young shortstop's absence is, the Royals will surely exercise caution in timing his return from his second IL stint of the season.

DeJong (ribs) is likely to be activated for Friday's game against the Cubs, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

According to Cardinals' manager Mike Shildt, DeJong is expected to play all seven innings of his Triple-A rehab game Wednesday and might take some additional at-bats in the second half of the doubleheader, after which he'll return to St. Louis for an evaluation. The 27-year-old hit a lowly .177 in 124 at-bats before landing on the injured list May 13, but he still displayed his usual pop with seven homers.

Manager Bud Black said Story (elbow) could be activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Thursday's series finale in Miami, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.

The Rockies initially expected to get Story back from the IL for Tuesday's series opener with the Marlins, but he ultimately wasn't activated ahead of the contest. He'll remain on the shelf Wednesday, but Story took a notable step forward in his recovery from a right elbow strain by throwing on the field and taking batting practice over the past two days. If Story checks out fine once re-evaluated early Thursday, he'll likely slot back into the starting nine right away.
