  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

    Athletics' Aledmys Diaz: Resumes hitting

Diaz (calf) has resumed taking batting practice but is not yet running the bases, MLB.com reports.

The veteran began a light running program in mid-April, but as this latest report indicates, he hasn't progressed to carrying it out fully just yet. The fact Diaz is back to swinging a bat is certainly a positive, however, yet he appears to be at least a month away from his season debut given the expected length of the rehab assignment he'll require.

  • Jose Perdomo SS | ATL

Braves' Jose Perdomo: Out with undisclosed injury

Perdomo (undisclosed) is on the 60-day injured list on Atlanta's Florida Complex League roster.

It was a bit surprising to see Perdomo assigned directly to the FCL without playing any games in the Dominican Summer League, but the fact he has a significant injury makes the assignment more logical, as he'll get to rehab the injury stateside. Given that the FCL schedule concludes in late July, Perdomo will only be able to play in a few weeks worth of games even if he returns in the minimum time.

  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Goes deep Monday

Neto went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to Pittsburgh.

Batting out of the No. 9 slot in the order, Neto produced the Angels' only run of the game with his sixth-inning solo shot to center field. It was the third homer of the campaign for the shortstop, all of which have come over his past 11 games. Neto was batting just .167 after an 0-for-3 effort April 21, but he's turned things around since, slashing .356/.370/.667 over his past 13 contests.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Turns tide with three-run homer

Seager went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run Monday in a 4-2 victory against Oakland.

Texas was down 2-0 heading into the eighth frame before Seager turned the team's fortunes around with a two-out, three-run blast to center field. It was a much-needed big moment for the star shortstop, as he came into the contest batting just .190 in May and .228 overall on the season. After slugging 33 homers and driving in 96 runs last year, Seager has just three homers and 13 RBI through 33 games in 2024. Monday marked the first time he has driven in multiple runs in a contest since Texas' second game of the season.

  • Rangers' Jonathan Ornelas: Promoted to majors

The Rangers recalled Ornelas from Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.

He'll take the 26-man active roster spot vacated by Wyatt Langford (hamstring), who was placed on the 10-day injured list. Ornelas, 23, has posted a .720 OPS with two home runs and one stolen base at Round Rock this season, but the Rangers are bringing him aboard mainly for his capable glove in the middle infield. Though he's played exclusively at second base and shortstop this season, Ornelas also saw action at third base and center field in 2023.

  • Nick Ahmed SS | TEX

    Giants' Nick Ahmed: Resting Monday

Ahmed is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Ahmed will take a seat for the series finale, ending a stretch of six consecutive starts. Tyler Fitzgerald will step in as the Giants' starting shortstop Monday.

  • Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI

Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Heading to bench Monday

Sosa is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Giants, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Sosa started at shortstop in the Phillies' first two games after Trea Turner (hamstring) landed on the 10-day injured list, going 2-for-8 with a two RBI, one run and one stolen base. Though he could still end up serving as the primary option at shortstop during Turner's absence, Sosa will give way to Bryson Stott on Monday while Whit Merrifield fills in at Stott's usual spot at second base.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Could begin hitting this week

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday that he believes Perdomo (knee) will start hitting this week, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.

Perdomo has already started some baseball activity, including fielding grounders and throwing. A rehab assignment for the shortstop should follow his return to the batting cages, but a timeline for his return to MLB has not yet been established.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Swats first-inning homer

Lindor went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run during Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Rays.

Lindor got the Mets on the board right away, clubbing a two-run shot off Ryan Pepiot as the third batter of the game. The long ball was Lindor's sixth of the season and marked his third time logging multiple RBI in his last four games. During that stretch, the shortstop is 5-for-17 (.294) with eight RBI and four extra-base hits.

  • Jose Caballero 2B | NYY

Rays' Jose Caballero: Runs wild against Mets

Caballero went 0-for-2 with three walks, three runs scored and four stolen bases during Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Mets.

Despite not tallying a hit, Caballero was all over the basepaths, reaching thrice via walk and becoming the third player since 2020 to accumulate four steals in a game. One of those swipes came in the 10th inning when he stole third after beginning the frame as the designated runner. He then scored on a walk-off triple by Jonny DeLuca. Caballero ranks third in MLB with 13 steals this season and holds a .317 on-base percentage.
