Palacios is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Though he had started each of the last three matchups with right-handed pitchers, Palacios will give way to Ben Williamson at second base against righty Tyler Mahle. Both Palacios and Williamson are likely headed for reductions in playing time at the keystone with Gavin Lux (shoulder/ankle) drawing closer to a return from the injured list.

The Orioles optioned Raquet to Triple-A Norfolk.

He'll give up his spot on the roster to Trey Gibson, who was called up from Norfolk to start Sunday's game against the Yankees. Raquet's latest stint in the majors lasted just one day, with the 30-year-old tossing a scoreless inning in Saturday's 9-4 loss.

The left-handed hitter will head to the bench against a second straight lefty starter in Max Fried. Tyler O'Neill will once again spell Beavers in right field.

Gibson will fill the rotation spot vacated by Trevor Rogers, who recently landed on the injured list due to an illness. The 23-year-old righty is one of the organization's top prospects and has a 4.01 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 25:12 K:BB across 24.2 innings to begin the season with Norfolk. Gibson is likely in line for just one start with the Orioles, but a strong debut could give himself a chance of getting a longer look in the majors.

Cowser is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

On the bench for the eighth time in nine games, Cowser appears to have faded into a part-time role with the recent return of Tyler O'Neill having created a logjam in the outfield. Cowser's reduction in playing time comes while he's struck out in 31.4 percent of his plate appearances en route to a .183/.275/.217 slash line for the season.

Basallo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The left-handed hitter will hit the bench against a second straight southpaw in Max Fried. Adley Rutschman will draw the start at catcher while Pete Alonso serves as Baltimore's designated hitter in Basallo's absence.

Henderson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Henderson had started in each of the Orioles' first 33 games of the season and hit a bit of a rough patch with six strikeouts over his last three contests, prompting manager Craig Albernaz to give the star shortstop his first day off of 2026. With lefty Max Fried on the mound for the Yankees, the Orioles will go with an all right-handed-hitting lineup that includes Blaze Alexander as Henderson's replacement at shortstop.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said this weekend that a decision hasn't been made if Volpe (shoulder) will be activated from the 10-day injured list Monday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Volpe remains on assignment in the minors with Double-A Somerset, but his 20-day rehab window will come to a close following the weekend. Through his first 12 games between Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Volpe has slashed .275/.333/.350 with an 8.9 percent walk rate and 20 percent strikeout rate, but it's unclear if that level of production will be enough for the Yankees to reinstall him as their everyday shortstop in place of Jose Caballero (.719 OPS over 120 plate appearances). As Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News notes, Caballero hasn't been practicing at other infield positions in anticipation of Volpe's return, and Volpe has worked exclusively as a shortstop since 2023. Volpe has minor-league options remaining, so the Yankees could elect to activate him from the IL and send him to Triple-A if they don't believe he's an upgrade over Caballero but want to have him continue playing on an everyday basis.

Crochet (shoulder) was able to play catch Sunday for the first time since landing on the injured list Wednesday, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

The Red Sox plan to proceed cautiously with Crochet while he works his way through left shoulder inflammation, but the club is optimistic that it caught the injury before it became a greater concern. For his part, Crochet believes that he'll be ready to return from the IL when first eligible May 12, but the two-time All-Star still has a few more checkpoints to hit in his recovery before rejoining the rotation.
