The Tigers recalled Brieske from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

The right-hander will get his first look in the majors since mid-July, when Detroit sent him to Triple-A Toledo. Brieske has made eight appearances in the big leagues this year and has surrendered seven earned runs with an 8:4 K:BB over 9.1 innings.

Varsho is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Varsho will take a seat Tuesday after posting a .678 OPS while starting the previous 11 contests. Taylor Trammell will shift to center field, which opens up left for LaMonte Wade.

Hicks is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.

It's the third straight game against a southpaw starter that Hicks isn't starting, so he appears to be working in the strong side of a platoon at catcher. The 27-year-old has raked in 22 games since being acquired by the Rays at the trade deadline with three homers and a .947 OPS in 80 plate appearances. Nick Fortes is picking up another start behind the plate Tuesday versus New York lefty Sean Manaea.

Aranda is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.

Aranda started the previous nine games and will receive a day off after batting .206 (7-for-34) with two homers during that span. Ryan Vilade will pick up a start at first base against Mets lefty Sean Manaea on Tuesday.

Estevez will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder next week, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Estevez began throwing in bridge league games at the Royals' complex in Arizona last week but wasn't making much progress, so the team will shut him down for the season, and the right-hander will go under the knife to address his strained rotator cuff. The 33-year-old appeared in just one game for the Royals this year, during which he gave up six earned runs while recording just one out. Kansas City is likely to decline his $13 million club option for next season.

Astros manager Joe Espada said that Burrows (elbow) was diagnosed with inflammation in his right shoulder after undergoing an MRI on Tuesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

After covering 4.1 innings and 77 pitches in his third rehab start with Triple-A Sugar Land last Wednesday, Burrows looked primed to return from the 15-day injured list and slot back into the Houston rotation this week. However, with Burrows experiencing discomfort in his shoulder while playing catch Monday, he'll now have his activation from the IL delayed indefinitely. The Astros will likely have Burrows rest for at least the next few days with the hope that the inflammation subsides and he's able to start throwing again.

Schanuel (side) is scheduled to resume swinging a bat Tuesday, Jack Janes of TheSportingTribune.com reports.

It's the first time Schanuel will do any kind of hitting work since he landed on the injured list Aug. 22 with an intercostal strain. The 24-year-old resumed participating in agility work last week, though there are still a few hurdles left for him to clear before the Angels can activate him from the injured list.

Guzman isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees, Jack Janes of TheSportingTribune.com reports.

Guzman will take a day to regroup after going 2-for-25 with eight strikeouts over his last nine games. Oswald Peraza will get the nod at the hot corner and bat eighth.

The Angels recalled Paris from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday.

Paris has slashed .307/.427/.554 with 13 home runs and 16 stolen bases across 288 plate appearances through 62 games since getting promoted to Triple-A Salt Lake on June 9. The 24-year-old got a run of 44 games for the Angels in 2025, when he slashed .190/.266/.381 with six home runs and seven stolen bases across 139 plate appearances. He will look to improve upon that in September and may see action at second base, shortstop, left field and center field.

Taillon (forearm) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday, and if that goes well, will be in line to start Friday's game in Kansas City, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

Coming back from right forearm tendinitis, Taillon gave up four earned runs while throwing 48 pitches over 3.1 innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Buffalo last Friday. The Blue Jays had left open the possibility of Taillon making one more rehab start, but as long as he comes out of Tuesday's side session without any hiccups, he'll rejoin the rotation this weekend. Taillon hasn't reached the 80-pitch mark in nearly a month, so he probably will not be ready for a full workload Friday.
