Torres went 2-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Saturday's 6-0 win over the White Sox.

The second baseman capped a five-run fourth inning for the Tigers by lofting a Martin Perez changeup over the left-field fence. Torres is up to 15 homers on the year, reaching that mark for a fourth straight season, and he remains on course for a career-high OBP with a .261/.363/.399 slash line through 127 contests.

Skubal (13-4) picked up the win in Saturday's 6-0 victory over the White Sox, scattering two hits and a walk over six scoreless innings. He struck out six.

Chicago didn't get a runner past second base against Skubal, who delivered his fifth straight quality start and 19th of the season on 90 pitches (63 strikes). Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com, the Detroit ace has 12 outings this season of at least six innings without giving up a run, leaving him one shy of Bob Gibson's legendary 1968 campaign for the most by a pitcher in the live-ball era. Skubal will take a 2.10 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and absurd 222:28 K:BB through 180 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend in Miami.

Perez (1-4) took the loss Saturday, coughing up six runs on five hits and three walks over four innings as the White Sox fell 6-0 to the Tigers. He failed to strike out a batter.

The veteran southpaw had no margin for error in a matchup with Tarik Skubal, but after Perez served up a leadoff homer to Jahmai Jones, he completely unraveled in the fourth inning. Perez had allowed just four runs total (three earned) over 21.2 innings in August after returning from the IL, but his first outing in September provided an immediate correction to his ratios. Perez will carry a 3.15 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 39:18 K:BB through 45.2 innings on the season into his next start, which lines up to come on the road next weekend in Cleveland.

Alvarez went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Saturday's 11-0 win over the Rangers.

The 28-year-old launched his sixth homer of the season in the fifth inning off Jacob deGrom, marking his third long ball in 11 games since returning from the injured list, a stretch in which he's gone 17-for-37 (.459) with nine RBI and eight runs scored. Alverez added another RBI with a single later in the contest. Saturday's effort also gave the slugger multiple hits in five of his last seven contests, a sign he's quickly regained form as a consistent middle-of-the-order threat for Houston.

DeGrom (11-7) took the loss against the Astros on Saturday, surrendering three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over 5.1 innings.

DeGrom opened the night in dominant fashion, striking out the side in the first inning before a clean second, but his outing would unravel as the game went on. The right-hander gave up solo homers to Christian Walker in the third and Yordan Alvarez in the fifth before exiting in the sixth with two runners on, leaving him two outs shy of what would have been his first quality start since August 9. Despite piling up 47 strikeouts in his last seven outings, deGrom has dropped five of his six decisions during that span. The 37-year-old owns a 2.78 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and a 169:35 K:BB through 155.2 innings and will look to bounce back in his next scheduled start against the high-powered Mets.

Brown (11-7) earned the win over the Rangers on Saturday, delivering six shutout innings with four hits, three walks, and eight strikeouts.

Brown continued his impressive August form, and he's posted a dazzling 1.44 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and a 41:14 K:BB through his last 43.2 innings. The right-hander threw a season-high 107 pitches, matching his career high, before exiting the mound with the Astros ahead 3-0. The outing was Brown's eighth scoreless start of the year, and he remains among the league's ERA leaders and strengthens his Cy Young case. The 27-year-old will take a 2.25 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and a 190:52 K:BB into his next scheduled outing against Atlanta next weekend.

Lugo went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and a second RBI in Saturday's 17-4 loss to the Athletics.

Lugo arguably did more off the bench than most of his teammates did over the full game. However, that hasn't been the norm since his most recent call-up from Triple-A Salt Lake -- Lugo has gone just 3-for-19 with six strikeouts and no walks over nine contests since he was brought up Aug. 24. Overall, the 24-year-old has a .213/.226/.475 slash line with four homers, eight RBI, eight runs scored, two doubles, one triple and no stolen bases over 62 plate appearances in the majors.

Adell went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's 17-4 loss to the Athletics.

Adell was one of two Angels to log multiple hits in the blowout loss. He's up to 34 homers on the year, including nine over his last 19 games, a span in which he's batting .352 (25-for-71) with 20 RBI. The outfielder has contributed 92 RBI, 56 runs scored and five stolen bases while slashing .243/.304/.503 over 135 games in a career year as one of the Angels' most reliable power hitters.

Kikuchi (6-11) allowed seven runs on six hits and three walks while striking out one over two innings to take the loss versus the Athletics on Saturday.

Kikuchi was hit hard, as four of the six hits he gave up went for extra bases, leading to a season-high seven runs allowed. Kikuchi has gone 0-4 over his last five starts, surrendering 23 runs over 22.2 innings in that span to unravel what had been a promising season -- albeit with plenty of warning signs -- prior to August. Overall, he's now at a 4.18 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 163:69 K:BB through 161.2 innings over 30 starts. The southpaw is projected to make his next start against one of his former teams when the Angels visit Seattle next week.

Soderstrom went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI in Saturday's 17-4 win over the Angels.

Soderstrom set the tone with a three-run double in the first inning and added an additional RBI on a groundout in the sixth. He's hit safely in six straight games, going 8-for-23 (.348) with eight RBI in that span. He continues to see more than just a platoon role in left field, though he cedes some at-bats to Colby Thomas when the Athletics face a left-handed pitcher. Soderstrom is up to a .273/.345/.469 slash line with 23 home runs, 85 RBI, 69 runs scored, 29 doubles and seven stolen bases through 142 contests this season.
