Wells isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Houston.

The lefty-hitting Wells will get a breather Saturday while the lefty-throwing Framber Valdez takes the mound for the Astros. Ben Rice will start behind the plate and bat fifth.

Vierling appeared as a pinch hitter and went 1-for-1 with a three-run home run in Friday's 6-5 win over the Angels.

Vierling pinch hit for Kerry Carpenter in the eighth inning to face Los Angeles lefty Reid Detmers, and Vierling promptly launched his first home run of the season to erase a 5-3 deficit. While Vierling has struggled for much of the year, he has been better lately with a .273 batting average over his last 15 games. The veteran should continue to see regular time in center field with Parker Meadows (quad) on the injured list.

Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-5 win over the Angels.

Torkelson went deep for the second straight game, and he now has 25 long balls this season. That puts him within one of Riley Greene's team-leading total, and Greene has only gone deep once over his last 16 games, so Torkelson could catch him soon at this rate. The 25-year-old is also approaching his career high of 31 home runs, which he recorded back in 2023.

Melton (2-1) allowed one run on two hits across 3.1 innings of relief to earn the win Friday against the Angels. He struck out two.

Starter Tarik Skubal had an uncharacteristically poor start and only lasted 4.2 innings, which opened the door for Melton in the middle of the contest. The rookie looked good for the second straight game in relief, and he's only allowed one run over 5.1 innings since shifting to the bullpen. The long-relief role limits Melton's fantasy upside the rest of the season, though it looks like he'll be an important player for the Tigers down the stretch.

Yoshida went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBI in Friday's 10-2 win over the Padres.

The 32-year-old put an exclamation point on the rout when he launched a two-run homer off Sean Reynolds in the ninth inning. Yoshida has two long balls on the season, both of which have come in his last five starts, but his playing time and production both remain inconsistent. Over 47 plate appearances since the All-Star break, Yoshida is slashing .227/.255/.409 with three runs, six RBI and a 1:10 BB:K.

Buehler (7-6) picked up the win Friday, allowing four hits and two walks over six scoreless innings in a 10-2 rout of the Padres. He struck out four.

A four-run fourth inning by the Red Sox gave Buehler all the offensive support he would need, as the right-hander tossed 60 of 96 pitches for strikes en route to his first win since July 5 and his seventh quality start of the season. Buehler has been inconsistent all year, but he's been able to limit the damage of late. He hasn't given up more than three runs in an outing since the beginning of July, posting a 3.27 ERA over his last 33 innings despite an ugly 1.52 WHIP and 16:14 K:BB. His luck could run out in his next start, however, which lines up to come on the road next week in Houston.

Raleigh went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 3-2 win over the Rays.

With the Mariners down 2-0 in the eighth inning, Raleigh got hold of a Griffin Jax sweeper and launched it to right-center field for the game-winning homer. It was Raleigh's 43rd long ball of the year, as he marches closer to toppling Salvador Perez's MLB record of 48 homers in a season set in 2021. Raleigh's overall offensive output has slipped since the All-Star break, however, and over his last 20 games he is slashing .198/.253/.383 with 11 RBI.

Brash struck out the side in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his second save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Rays.

Andres Munoz had worked Wednesday and Thursday, so Brash got the call for the save opportunity and mowed down Tampa Bay's 2-3-4 hitters on 19 pitches (10 strikes). Brash missed the first month-plus of the season while completing his recovery from a hybrid Tommy John surgery/internal brace procedure on his elbow performed in May 2024, but since getting back on the mound he's been almost untouchable, posting a 1.20 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 34:12 K:BB over 30 innings. Munoz's numbers are also elite as the team's closer, but Brash's presence gives the M's perhaps the best high-leverage duo in the league.

Castillo didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 3-2 win over the Rays, giving up two runs on five hits over seven innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.

All the damage off the veteran righty came on solo shots by Brandon Lowe in the first inning and Junior Caminero in the sixth, but all of Seattle's offense came on a three-run blast by Cal Raleigh in the eighth. Castillo delivered his 14th quality start of the year on 99 pitches (72 strikes), and he's allowed three earned runs or fewer in eight straight trips to the mound, posting a 2.25 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 45:7 K:BB through 48 innings over that span. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend against the Mets.

Caminero went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Mariners.

His sixth-inning shot off Luis Castillo gave the Rays a 2-0 lead, but the bullpen couldn't close things out. Caminero has been swinging a loud bat since the All-Star break, slashing .273/.310/.597 over his last 20 games with eight of his 31 homers on the season, and 17 of his 77 RBI.
