Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
Yankees' Carlos Rodon: Seven Ks in five strong innings
Rodon (0-2) took the loss Thursday against the Blue Jays, allowing one run on three hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out seven.
Rodon has been pretty tough to hit so far in 2026, giving up fewer than four knocks in each of his first three starts, but control has been a big problem since we came off the injured list. The 33-year-old southpaw has walked at least a trio of batters each time out, but it was encouraging to see him throw a season-high five frames Thursday while fanning a season-best seven. Rodon has a 4.15 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 17:11 K:BB across 13 innings, but he's set for a favorable matchup against the Royals in his next appearance.

Paul DeJong SS | DET
Tigers' Paul DeJong: Undergoing hamstring surgery
DeJong is set to undergo season-ending hamstring surgery, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
DeJong was placed on the full-season injured list with Triple-A Toledo on Thursday with what was described as a leg injury. It is now understood to be a hamstring issue, and the 32-year-old will set his sights on being ready to go for spring training in 2027.

Dillon Dingler C | DET
Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Provides offense Thursday
Dingler went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Guardians.
Dingler was the only Detroit player with multiple hits and provided all of the team's offense in its sixth straight loss. The catcher's batting average has dipped some after a strong start in that category, but he's continued to hit for power with three home runs over his last 10 games. That's pushed Dingler up to nine long balls this season in 45 games after going deep 13 times in 126 regular-season contests last year.

Casey Mize SP | DET
Tigers' Casey Mize: Takes tough-luck loss Thursday
Mize (2-3) allowed two runs on four hits across 6.2 innings and took the loss in Thursday's 3-1 defeat to the Guardians. He struck out four and didn't walk anyone.
Making his second start after missing a few weeks due to an adductor strain, Mize pitched well once again but got little run support and was outdueled by Joey Cantillo and the Cleveland bullpen. While he doesn't have the wins to show for it yet, Mize has been sharp this year with a 2.47 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 43 strikeouts in 43.2 innings across eight starts. The righty will look to keep up his strong play in his next outing, which should come against the Angels at home next week.

Hunter Gaddis RP | CLE
Guardians' Hunter Gaddis: Notches first save
Gaddis picked up the save in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Tigers, allowing one hit while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.
With closer Cade Smith working the previous two days, it was Gaddis who was called upon to close out a two-run lead in the ninth Thursday. The right-hander worked around a two-out single to finish off Cleveland's four-game sweep of the Tigers while locking down his first save this season. Gaddis was shaky early in the year following a stint on the IL with forearm tightness, but he's turned things around of late, allowing just one run on five hits in his last seven appearances (6.1 innings). Overall, his ERA sits at 5.25 with a 1.75 WHIP and 10:6 K:BB across 12 innings this year.

Joey Cantillo SP | CLE
Guardians' Joey Cantillo: Blanks Detroit in fourth win
Cantillo (4-1) earned the win Thursday over the Tigers, allowing three hits and three walks while striking out six across 5.2 scoreless innings.
It's the third win in four starts for Cantillo, who's posted a 2.05 ERA in that span. The left-hander's lowered his ERA to 3.05 on the season with a 1.32 WHIP and 51:27 K:BB across 11 starts (56 innings). Cantillo will look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently lined up for next week at home against the Nationals.

Roman Anthony OF | BOS
Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Shut down through Thursday
Anthony (wrist) was shut down through at least next Thursday before the Red Sox re-evaluate him, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
Anthony was set to take the next step in his progression earlier this week but suffered a setback, as he felt lingering soreness when swinging a bat Monday. After receiving a cortisone injection, the outfielder had begun throwing before he tested the wrist by taking swings.

Cade Smith RP | CLE
Guardians' Cade Smith: Unavailable for save
Smith was not given the save opportunity in Thursday's 3-1 win over Tigers.
Smith remains locked in as Cleveland's closer, but he recorded saves each of the previous two games and was unavailable Thursday after burning 36 pitches in those contests. Hunter Gaddis worked around a hit while striking out two in picking up his first save of the season.

Patrick Bailey C | CLE
Guardians' Patrick Bailey: Adds insurance in win
Bailey went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 3-1 win over Detroit.
Bailey's solo home run the eighth inning provided some insurance in the final game of the Guardians' four-game sweep of the Tigers. It was his first home run and just the second hit since coming over from San Francisco earlier this month. In six games for his new team, Bailey is 2-for-18 with three RBI. Since Bailey's arrival, there's been an even split behind the plate between him and Austin Hedges.

Denzel Clarke OF | ATH
Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Out through All-Star break
The Athletics returned Clarke (foot) from his rehab assignment Thursday after he suffered a left hamstring strain while playing in a rehab game at Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.
An MRI confirmed Thursday that Clarke suffered a high-grade hamstring strain, so the team will shut him down from all activity and re-evaluate him after the All-Star break. An updated timeline for his recovery will become available once the second half of the season begins, but the 26-year-old outfielder will presumably need an extended amount of time to build back up once he's cleared to resume activity, likely pushing his return date well into August, at minimum. Henry Bolte should continue to receive the bulk of starts in center field with Clarke sidelined.
