Rangers' Daniel Robert: Recalled by Rangers

The Rangers recalled Robert from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Robert last saw major-league action July 20 against the Orioles, when he allowed three hits and one walk while striking out two over two scoreless innings. The 30-year-old right-hander has spent most of 2024 in Triple-A, and across 35 outings with Round Rock he's registered seven saves with a 2.70 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 52:13 K:BB across 43.1 innings. Robert will be available out of the Rangers' bullpen for the weekend series against the Angels.

  • Leody Taveras CF | TEX

    Rangers' Leody Taveras: Idle Friday

Taveras isn't in the Rangers' lineup Friday against the Angels.

Taveras hasn't fared well against southpaws this season, putting up a .520 OPS in 101 plate appearances versus lefties, so he'll grab a seat on the bench Friday against Reid Detmers and the Halos. Wyatt Langford will shift to center field as a result, putting Ezequiel Duran in left while Matt Duffy starts at the hot corner.

  • Marc Church RP | TEX

Rangers' Marc Church: Recalled by Texas

The Rangers recalled Church from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Church will have an opportunity to make his MLB debut out of the Rangers' bullpen this weekend against the Angels. The 23-year-old right-hander battled through a right shoulder strain for much of the season, but he returned from Round Rock's 60-day injured list in mid-August. In 11 Triple-A outings since being reinstated from the IL, Church posted a 2.87 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 19:4 K:BB over 15.2 innings.

Schuemann has slashed .141/.191/.188 with three runs scored and three RBI over 68 plate appearances since Sept. 1. Darell Hernaiz will start at third base Friday and bat ninth.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | SEA

Mariners' Josh Rojas: Sitting versus lefty

Rojas is absent from Friday's lineup against the Athletics, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

With the A's sending southpaw JP Sears to the mound Friday, the lefty-hitting Rojas will begin the game on the bench. Luis Urias will start at third base and bat eighth.

  • Justin Turner 1B | SEA

Mariners' Justin Turner: Absent from Friday's lineup

Turner is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against Oakland, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Turner will begin Friday's contest on the bench while Cal Raleigh serves as the designated hitter and bats second. Turner has reached base safely in 24 straight starts, and since Sept. 1 he's slashed .293/.391/.440 with 13 runs scored, two home runs and eight RBI across 92 plate appearances.

  • Luke Raley LF | SEA

Mariners' Luke Raley: Avoids lefty matchup

Raley is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Raley will once again retreat to the dugout as Oakland sends left-hander JP Sears to the mound Friday. Dylan Moore will start at first base and bat fifth.

  • Victor Robles CF | SEA

    Mariners' Victor Robles: Resting Friday

Robles is absent from Friday's lineup against Oakland, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Robles will rest for the first game of the series after going 3-for-13 with two RBI and five runs scored during the Mariners' previous series against the Astros. Mitch Haniger will start in right field and bat sixth against Athletics southpaw JP Sears.

  • Astros' Spencer Arrighetti: Available out of bullpen

Arrighetti (calf) will pitch out of the bullpen for the weekend series against the Guardians, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Arrighetti was pulled from his last start Sunday against the Angels due to calf cramping. While he won't return to the rotation for the final series of the regular season, the 24-year-old right-hander could see some work out of the bullpen for a game or two to test out his calf ahead of the postseason. In 11 starts since the All-Star break, Arrighetti has a 3-6 record with a 3.30 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 74:18 K:BB across 62.2 innings.
