  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Snaps slump with homer Tuesday

Torkelson went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Guardians.

Torkelson started the scoring for Detroit in the second inning with his seventh home run of the season. It was his first long ball since May 3, and in 13 games in between, he went an ugly 5-for-46 with 23 strikeouts before Tuesday's long ball. It was a small step in the right direction for Torkelson, though he was lifted for a pinch hitter in the eighth inning, and he'll need to stay out of another rough patch to hold onto consistent playing time.

  • Ike Irish C | BAL

Orioles' Ike Irish: Nursing wrist issue

Irish will be out of High-A Frederick's lineup for the next few days due to a right wrist bruise, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The 22-year-old suffered the injury during Sunday's game against Hudson Valley when he was hit by a pitch, but it appears he's avoided a serious injury. Irish is one of Baltimore's top prospects and has enjoyed a strong start to the 2026 campaign with seven homers, nine steals and an .874 OPS in his first 33 games at the High-A level.

  • Brice Matthews CF | HOU

Astros' Brice Matthews: Taking seat Tuesday

Matthews is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

The 29-year-old has been getting regular playing time in the outfield and occasional action at second base, but he may have a reduced role going forward due to Jake Meyers (oblique) coming off the injured list Tuesday. Matthews had a .751 OPS as of May 8, but he's batting .162 (6-for-37) with no extra-base hits across his past 10 contests.

  • Cam Smith RF | HOU

Astros' Cam Smith: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Smith is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Smith is in the midst of a 3-for-34 slump and will hit the bench Tuesday for the second time in Houston's past four contests. Zach Dezenzo is manning right field and batting fifth against Minnesota righty Zebby Matthews.

  • Luke Keaschall 2B | MIN

Twins' Luke Keaschall: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Keaschall is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Astros.

Keaschall has an .813 OPS with an 11:10 BB:K through 15 games in May but will take a seat for Tuesday's contest. Byron Buxton (hip) is serving as the designated hitter, pushing Josh Bell to first base and Kody Clemens to second.

  • Nate Pearson RP | HOU

Astros' Nate Pearson: Returning to bullpen

The Astros reinstated Pearson (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Pearson is returning from a rehab assignment after he dealt with soreness in his right elbow that stemmed from an offseason cleanup. He will likely be used primarily as a reliever for the Astros after pitching out of the bullpen during his rehab assignment. In a corresponding move, the Astros placed Lance McCullers on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder inflammation.

  • Shay Whitcomb 3B | HOU

Astros' Shay Whitcomb: Sent back to Triple-A

The Astros optioned Whitcomb to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday.

Whitcomb got just four plate appearances after getting recalled from Sugar Land on May 6. He was able to notch an RBI single as his lone hit May 8. In a corresponding move, Jake Meyers (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

  • Jake Meyers CF | HOU

Astros' Jake Meyers: Reinstated, starting Tuesday

Meyers (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and is starting in center field and batting seventh Tuesday against the Twins, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Meyers has been sidelined for over a month due to an oblique strain but is back with the Astros after going 1-for-16 during a four-game rehab assignment. The 29-year-old posted a .243/.326/.378 slash line with one homer and one steal in 12 games prior to the injury and should operate as Houston's primary center fielder now that he's healthy.

  • Athletics' Lawrence Butler: Idle against southpaw

Butler is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Angels.

The Angels are sending southpaw Reid Detmers to the mound to start the game, so the left-handed-hitting Butler is taking a seat. Brent Rooker will start in right field while Shea Langeliers serves as the designated hitter and Jonah Heim enters the lineup at catcher.

  • Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Sitting versus lefty

Soderstrom is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Angels.

The Angels have southpaw Reid Detmers starting Tuesday, so the left-handed-hitting Soderstrom will take a seat. Soderstrom has struggled in 2026 with a .190/.275/.375 slash line, down across the board from 2025. His dip versus lefties has been even worse with a .738 OPS in 2025 and just a .426 OPS in 2026. As Soderstrom sits Tuesday, Colby Thomas will start in left and bat third.
