Mariners' Bryce Miller: Takes no-decision in Game 4

Miller took a no-decision in Game 4 of the ALDS versus the Tigers on Wednesday, allowing two earned runs on four hits and zero walks while striking out two batters over 4.1 innings.

Miller allowed just two men to reach base through four innings, and the Mariners' offense gave him a 3-0 lead to work with entering the bottom of the fifth. However, after giving up two hits and an RBI to the Tigers' first three batters in the fifth, the 27-year-old was pulled in favor of Gabe Speier, who allowed an inherited runner to score as well as another man he put on base himself. The Tigers went on to win the game by a 9-3 margin, so the M's will need to take Game 5 at home Friday for Miller to have any chance of making another appearance on the mound this postseason.

  • Casey Mize SP | DET

Tigers' Casey Mize: Punches out six in Game 4

Mize didn't factor into the decision during Game 4 of the ALDS against Seattle on Wednesday. He gave up one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out six batters across three innings.

Doubles from Josh Naylor and Dominic Canzone allowed the Mariners to jump out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning, but Seattle wasn't able to generate much offense outside of that during Mize's brief time on the mound. The 28-year-old threw just 54 pitches Wednesday, but he will likely need the Tigers to advance to the ALCS in order to retake the mound during the postseason.

  • Blue Jays' Seranthony Dominguez: Earns win in Game 4

Dominguez was credited with the win over the Yankees on Wednesday in Game 4 of the American League Division Series. He allowed one walk without a strikeout over 1.2 hitless and scoreless innings.

Dominguez followed Louis Varland and Mason Fluharty in a bullpen game for Toronto and ultimately earned the win, sending Toronto to the ALCS. Acquired from the Orioles at the trade deadline, Dominguez has fit in nicely with the Blue Jays. The veteran righty posted a 3.00 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and eight holds in 21 regular-season innings after coming over from Baltimore, and he's now up to 3.1 scoreless innings this postseason.

  • Jeff Hoffman RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Jeff Hoffman: Closes out game, series against NYY

Hoffman earned the save in Wednesday's win over the Yankees in Game 4 of the American League Division Series. He allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out one batter over 1.1 innings.

Hoffman was the eighth and final arm to pitch in a bullpen game for the Blue Jays, and while he coughed up a run in the ninth, he ultimately closed the door to send Toronto to the ALCS. While Hoffman was charged with seven blown saves and took seven losses during the regular season, he has allowed just two earned runs in his last 14 appearances dating back to late August, converting all five of his save chances in that span.

  • Cam Schlittler SP | NYY

Yankees' Cam Schlittler: Takes tough-luck loss in Game 4

Schlittler took the loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday in Game 4 of the American League Division Series. He allowed four runs (two earned) on eight hits while striking out two without a walk over 6.1 innings.

Making a second consecutive start with the season on the line, Schlittler pitched well, but the Yankees couldn't stave off elimination this time around. Still, per MLB's Sarah Langs, Schlittler became just the 10th pitcher in modern history with at least six innings pitched and two earned runs or fewer allowed in multiple starts facing elimination in a single postseason. The 24-year-old right-hander finishes his first playoff run with a 1.26 ERA over 14.1 innings, and he figures to be a hot commodity in fantasy drafts next spring.

  • Trey Yesavage SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage: Available in relief for Game 4

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Wednesday that Yesavage will be available out of the bullpen for Game 4 of the ALDS, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

Yesavage had a dominant start in Game 2 on Sunday, striking out 11 over 5.1 hitless, scoreless innings. He threw 78 pitches in that outing and is on two days' rest, but the Blue Jays won't hesitate to use the rookie in Game 4 if they think he'll help them close out the series against the Yankees. Kevin Gausman is set up to start Game 5, if necessary, and would pitch in Game 4 only in an emergency situation.

  • Bo Bichette 3B | NYM

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Does some jogging Wednesday

Bichette jogged in the outfield without a brace on his injured left knee at Yankee Stadium pregame Wednesday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

Bichette did not initially travel with the Blue Jays when the ALDS moved to New York, so the fact that he's now joined them and did some jogging for the first time since injuring his knee is a good sign. However, Bichette did not run at full effort, and he displayed a noticeable limp as he walked back to the dugout. Bichette hopes to be available for the ALCS, should the Blue Jays advance.

  • Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt: In Game 4 lineup

Goldschmidt will start at first base and bat sixth Wednesday in Game 4 of the ALDS against the Blue Jays.

It will be Goldschmidt's first start of the series and just his second start so far this postseason. Right-handed reliever Louis Varland is serving as the opener in what will be a bullpen game for the Blue Jays.

  • Ben Rice 1B | NYY

Yankees' Ben Rice: Retreating to bench

Rice is not in the lineup Wednesday for Game 4 of the ALDS versus the Blue Jays.

The Yankees are turning to Paul Goldschmidt at first base as the Blue Jays go with a bullpen game. Rice is 4-for-18 with one home run, four RBI and a 1:8 BB:K across five games this postseason.

  • Wenceel Perez RF | DET

Tigers' Wenceel Perez: Fades into reserve role

Perez is out of the lineup Wednesday for Game 4 of the ALDS versus the Mariners.

Since returning from the injured list in late May, Perez had served as a near-everyday player for the Tigers through the end of the regular season and during the wild-card round series victory over the Guardians, but he's moved into a reserve role for the ALDS. With Detroit welcoming Colt Keith back from a rib injury that kept him out of the wild-card round, Perez has found himself as the odd man out of the lineup for each of the first four games of the series with Seattle. Keith will once again serve as the Tigers' designated hitter Wednesday, which will result in Kerry Carpenter displacing Perez in right field.
