Sale (4-1) earned the win against the Phillies on Saturday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk with seven strikeouts over seven innings.

Sale surrendered a solo homer in the second inning but was otherwise dominant, throwing 73 of 101 pitches for strikes and logging six scoreless frames. Aside from a six-run clunker April 6, the veteran southpaw has yielded just three earned runs across four quality starts this season. He'll carry a 2.79 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 29:7 K:BB across 29 innings into a road matchup against the Nationals next week.

Reyes went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Atlanta.

The 25-year-old started in left field and homered off Chris Sale in his first major-league at-bat, launching a 2-0 fastball into the right-field seats. Reyes slashed .333/.345/.654 across 84 plate appearances at Triple-A Lehigh Valley to begin the year and should draw most of his opportunities against lefties, a role previously held by the recently demoted Otto Kemp.

Sanchez (2-2) took the loss against Atlanta on Saturday, allowing three unearned runs on eight hits and one walk with eight strikeouts over six innings.

Sanchez allowed all three runs in the third inning after a two-out error by Edmundo Sosa, with one scoring on an infield single and two on another softly hit single (69.1 mph). He was strong otherwise, throwing 59 of 93 pitches for strikes and generating a whopping 13 whiffs on his changeup alone. The southpaw has now yielded two earned runs or fewer in each of his five outings to open the season and owns a 1.59 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 39:8 K:BB across 28.1 innings. He's slated for a road matchup against the Cubs next week.

Peterson will no longer start Sunday against the Cubs but could still pitch out of the bullpen, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

Peterson was originally scheduled to start Sunday, but Tobias Myers will instead get the nod. However, Mastracco implies that Peterson could still work in long relief to keep the Mets' rotation on schedule. Peterson has allowed 14 earned runs across his last 14.1 innings, spanning three starts, so the team could be seeking to get him back on track by slightly shifting his role.

Myers will start Sunday's game against the Cubs, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.

David Peterson was originally set to start, but he's struggled mightily across his last three outings and will be pushed back in the Mets' pitching schedule. Meanwhile, Myers has made six appearances in relief this season, but Sunday will mark his first start. While Myers has worked as a starter for long stretches of his big-league career, he hasn't covered more than three innings or 39 pitches in an outing this season, so it's unclear how deep he may be able to pitch in Sunday's game.

Realmuto was removed from Saturday's game against Atlanta due to lower-back tightness, Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic reports.

It's unclear when the injury occurred, but Rafael Marchan entered the game for Realmuto as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning. Realmuto dealt with a sore foot about a week ago, though the issues don't look to be related. The severity of Realmuto's current injury is unclear.

Wood went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, hit-by-pitch, two walks, two RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 7-6 extra-innings loss to the Giants.

Wood led off the game with a solo homer against Adrian Houser and was then hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the second inning. Wood has now homered in back-to-back games and has seven on the season, with six of those long balls coming over his last 13 contests. On the season, Wood is slashing .256/.385/.570 with seven long balls, 18 RBI, 20 runs scored, four stolen bases and a 16:33 BB:K across 104 plate appearances.

Schultz was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Saturday.

Schultz threw three innings and 48 pitches Friday, a long enough outing that he will likely be unavailable for a few days. The Nationals' bullpen was taxed heavily again Saturday, likely creating a need for fresh arms Sunday. Schultz has been fairly effective across eight innings this season, and he'll almost certainly be back in the majors at some point later on.

Cavalli didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Giants, allowing three runs (one earned) on seven hits and no walks with five strikeouts across four innings.

The Nationals' Opening Day starter, Cavalli has managed to go five innings in just one of his five starts to this point. Saturday marked his first outing without walking a batter, but the Giants made Cavalli work deep into at-bats and still got his pitch count up to 92. The right-hander's five strikeouts matched his season high, but he's not going deep enough to put himself in the mix for wins. Cavalli owns a 4.12 ERA and 18:12 K:BB across 19.2 innings and is slated to face Atlanta in his next start.

Schmitt went 2-for-6 with an RBI double in Saturday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Nationals.

Schmitt is 4-for-11 with a double, homer, two RBI and two runs scored in the first two games of the series versus Washington. After batting .158 through April 1, Schmitt has gone on a tear at the plate over his last 10 games. He's 16-for-41 (.390) in that span, including five multi-hit performances. On the season, Schmitt is slashing .317/.369/.517 with six doubles, two home runs, seven RBI, seven runs scored, one stolen base and a 2:16 BB:K across 65 trips to the plate.
