Stephenson (thumb) caught two innings of a simulated game Tuesday and will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Stephenson was behind the plate for rehabbing right-hander Chase Burns' (elbow) throwing session as a final test for the thumb guard that's been fitted to his catcher's mitt. The backstop has been on the shelf since Aug. 20 due to a fractured thumb on his left (non-throwing) hand, but since he's been able to catch multiple bullpen sessions in addition to taking batting practice, he shouldn't require a lengthy rehab assignment. He could be a candidate for activation from the 10-day injured list for this weekend's series with the Mets.

Wood went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's win over the Marlins.

Wood provided a clutch home run in the fourth to push the Nationals ahead 5-2, which would remain the score the rest of the way. He's now posted five multi-hit efforts across his last 11 games, but Tuesday's homer was just his third since July 10. Wood also owns a 40.1 percent strikeout rate since coming back from the All-Star break, as his strikeout issues remain a glaring issue, especially with his power numbers taking a decline from earlier in the season.

Mazur (0-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Nationals, allowing five runs (four earned) on 10 hits and no walks while striking out five in six innings.

Mazur set a career-worst mark with 10 hits allowed, and five of the 10 hits went for extra bases. The biggest hit of the night against him was a two-run blast in the fourth by James Wood. Mazur was able to finish strong with two scoreless frames and tied his career high with six innings. He's tentatively lined up to complete a two-start week with a tough matchup against the Phillies.

Barrosa started in left field and went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Rangers.

In the Diamondbacks' first game without primary left fielder Lourdes Gurriel (knee), the switch-hitting Barrosa drew the start against a left-hander (Jacob Latz). Going forward, left field could consist of Jake McCarthy against right-handers while Barrosa or Blaze Alexander take over against southpaws.

Alexander started in center field and went 2-for-4 with an RBI and was caught stealing in Tuesday's 5-3 win over Texas.

Alexander started a second straight game in center field, both coming against left-handers. With the news that Lourdes Gurriel is done for the season with a torn ACL, there's a greater need for Alexander's right-handed bat in the outfield. He has experience in center field and replaced Gurriel in left field Monday.

Lawlar went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Rangers.

A great weight was removed from Lawlar's shoulders when he doubled in the fifth inning. That hit snapped an 0-for-31 streak in the majors this season and 0-for-36 going back to his first cup of big-league coffee in 2023. He followed up with a sharp single in the seventh inning, attacking a 1-1 sinker over the plate. Lawlar did not see a two-strike count, which is something manager Torey Lovullo talked about after the game with Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports. " I know he's trying to do everything right and perfect, take pitches, see pitches, drive up pitch counts and different things," Lovullo said. "I went to him before the day started. I said, 'Go early if you need to go early, get your swing synced up.'" With the hitless burden out of the way, Lawlar may be more relaxed and confident going forward.

Goodman went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in a 7-4 loss to the Giants on Tuesday.

Goodman socked his 27th homer of the season, and he tallied his ninth three-hit game of the year while racking up at least four RBI for the third time on the campaign. The 25-year-old backstop has broken out in a big way in 2025, turning in an .846 OPS as one of fantasy's top catchers. Better yet, Goodman is batting .286 with 35 extra-base hits, 49 RBI and 39 runs scored covering 245 at-bats (66 games) since the start of June.

Palencia allowed two hits and no walks in scoreless ninth inning for the save Tuesday against Atlanta, striking out one.

Palencia has now yielded multiple hits in three of his last four outings, but he was able to hang on for his 22nd save of the season Tuesday. The right-hander has certainly been shaky of late, logging a 4.76 ERA and 1.85 WHIP over his last 11.1 innings since the start of August, though he remains Chicago's clear-cut closer. For the year, Palencia owns a 2.16 ERA and 1.10 WHIP while successfully converting all but two of his save opportunities across 50 innings.

Arraez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Orioles.

Arraez's third-inning blast was the lone scoring play the Padres generated. He's gone 7-for-20 (.350) since his off day versus the Mariners last Wednesday, so it appears he has gotten his hitting back on track after a small slump. The infielder is up to seven homers this season, including five at home, while slashing .285/.318/.393 with 52 RBI, 56 runs scored and nine stolen bases across 133 contests overall.

Darvish (3-5) allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out six over four-plus innings to take the loss versus the Orioles on Tuesday.

Darvish gave up a solo home run to Jeremiah Jackson in the first inning and a two-run single to Emmanuel Rivera in the third. Darvish found more trouble in the fifth and was pulled from that frame after walking Jackson to lead off the inning. This was the third time in four starts Darvish fell short of the five-inning mark, and he's allowed 13 runs (12 earned) over 18 innings in that span. For the season, he's at a 5.75 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 48:17 K:BB through 51.2 innings across 11 starts. Darvish has had a few flashes of his talent, but he hasn't been able to sustain success from one start to the next very often. He's projected for a home matchup versus the Reds early next week.
