Gilbert went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run and three total runs scored in an 8-2 win against the Rockies on Monday.

Gilbert ignited San Francisco's offense from the bottom of the order, reaching base in all four of his plate appearances while scoring three times. The lefty batter took Chase Dollander deep for a two-run homer in the third inning, marking his second long ball of the campaign. Gilbert was batting .097 through his first 14 contests this year, but he's suddenly caught fire at the plate, going 9-for-15 with five extra-base hits and seven RBI across his past four games.

Steer (leg) entered Monday's game as a replacement at first base and went 0-for-1 in a 5-4 win over Toronto.

Steer opened the game on the bench due to a nagging leg issue, which is purportedly not serious. His departure from the lineup opened a slot for prospect Sal Stewart, who made his MLB debut as the starting first baseman. Steer, who eventually replaced Stewart for defensive purposes, seemingly will be ready to play a full nine innings Tuesday.

Dollander (2-12) took the loss against San Francisco on Monday, allowing six runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two batters over five innings.

Dollander was particularly hurt by the long ball Monday -- of the five hits he allowed, two left the park. The rookie righty didn't help himself with his wildness -- in addition to his three walks he also hit two batters, with both of the batters he plunked eventually coming around to score. Dollander continues to find the sledding tough in the majors; he hasn't earned a win since April 30 and has gone 0-9 with a 6.88 ERA and 1.63 WHIP over 15 starts since that last victory. He's had a trip to the IL and a demotion to the minors over that period, but he seems likely to ride out the rest of the campaign in the Rockies' rotation despite his struggles.

Stewart started at first base and went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Monday's 5-4 win over the Blue Jays.

Stewart was called up Monday and made his big-league debut while filling in at first base for Spencer Steer (leg). The highly regarded prospect singled in his first at-bat and scored on a Ke'Bryan Hayes double. In addition to first base, Stewart could see time at second base, DH and third base when Hayes needs a breather.

Friedl went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 5-4 win over Toronto.

Friedl helped the Reds come back from a two-run deficit in the bottom of the ninth inning, delivering a ground-rule double to plate the first run before Noelvi Marte walked off the Blue Jays one batter later. Friedl is fighting to break out of a second-half slump and has posted multi-hit efforts in two straight games, along with three RBI.

Marte went 1-for-5 with two RBI in Monday's 5-4 win over the Blue Jays.

The Reds squandered a lead in the top of the ninth inning but mounted their own comeback in the bottom of the frame. Marte finished it with a two-run single to walk off Toronto. He's scuffled the last week, batting .200 (6-for-30) with a 36.4 strikeout percentage, but Marte has delivered key hits during that run, including two home runs in addition to Monday's heroics.

Teng (2-3) earned the win over Colorado on Monday, allowing two runs on nine hits and no walks while striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings.

Teng struggled with an 8.78 ERA over four starts in August prior to a brief minor-league demotion, but he looked like a different pitcher Monday. Not only did the right-hander limit the Rockies to two runs, he also fanned eight batters, doubling his previous season-best mark. Teng did allow traffic in all but one of his frames, but the Rockies didn't score on him until after he gave way for a reliever with one out in the sixth. Teng figures to get another turn in the rotation given this strong outing, and he lines up to face the Cardinals in St. Louis this weekend.

The Pirates recalled Yorke from Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday.

Yorke was a regular in the Pittsburgh lineup for the second half of September last season, but after failing to win a spot on the Opening Day roster coming out of spring training, he's spent the entire 2025 campaign to date at Indianapolis. The 23-year-old has been serviceable as an everyday player for Indianapolis with a .287/.348/.406 slash line, seven home runs and 17 steals over 440 plate appearances, but he didn't dominate enough at any point to earn a call-up to Pittsburgh until the active roster expanded to 28 men Monday. Yorke will likely stick with the Pirates throughout the final month of the season, but he could end up filling a utility role and may not be in line for steady playing time.

The Pirates recalled Sanders from Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday.

Sanders was one of two additions for the Pirates with the active roster expanding to 28 men in September, as utility player Nick Yorke also received the call from Triple-A. The right-handed reliever has previously made five appearances for Pittsburgh this season, giving up five earned runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out four across five innings.

Backhus allowed two runs on two hits over one-third of an inning in Monday's 7-5 extra-inning loss to Texas.

Backhus entered the top of the ninth inning to close out Arizona's 5-3 lead but couldn't convert on the opportunity. He wasn't charged with a blown save, but it felt like one. The Diamondbacks' closer spot has been in flux since losing Justin Martinez (elbow), A.J. Puk (elbow) and Kevin Ginkel (shoulder) to injury.
