Hoffmann hasn't pitched since being optioned to Triple-A Reno on Aug. 20 while dealing with fatigue, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Reno hasn't yet placed Hoffmann on its injured list, so he could be back in action within a few days. Hoffmann has posted a 6.55 ERA and 2.00 WHIP over 11 innings in 10 appearances at the MLB level with the Royals and Diamondbacks this season.

DeSclafani (thumb) is expected to face live hitters Tuesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

DeSclafani has been sidelined since Aug. 13 while dealing with right thumb inflammation, but he will now take a significant step in his recovery. If Tuesday's session goes well, the Diamondbacks will likely start to put together the framework for a minor-league rehab assignment for DeSclafani in the coming weeks.

Miller exited Wednesday's game against the Phillies in the top of eighth inning with an apparent injury, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

Miller threw eight pitches in the top of the eighth inning, allowing one run on two hits, before the Brewers' trainer came out to the mound to examine the right-hander. Miller was removed from the game and replaced Rob Zastryzny. Milwaukee has an off day Tuesday before resuming its series with Philadelphia on Wednesday.

O'Brien (shoulder) was cleared to play catch Monday and could avoid the 15-day injured list, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

O'Brien underwent an MRI on Monday due to lingering right shoulder discomfort, but the Cardinals were encouraged by the imaging results and the reliever was allowed to resume throwing. While a stint on the IL has not been ruled out, O'Brien will be given a couple days to continue to recover to see if a long-term absence can be avoided. The 30-year-old has emerged as a late-inning bullpen arm for St. Louis this season, collecting a 1.69 ERA and 35:17 K:BB over 37.1 innings while notching two saves.

Tatis was scratched from the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles due to lower half tightness, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

Tatis said after Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Twins that he was dealing with some right hamstring tightness during the contest, but he felt well enough for the Padres to include him in their initial lineup for Monday's series opener. The Padres haven't indicated whether Tatis suffered a setback leading up to the start of the game, or if he was scratched out of an abundance of caution. Bryce Johnson will enter the starting nine in Tatis' stead, starting in center field and batting eighth.

Schmitt exited Monday's game against the Rockies after being hit by a pitch in the top of the fifth inning, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Schmitt appeared to take a 95 mph sinker from Chase Dollander off the right wrist or forearm. He took his base but was removed in favor of Christian Koss following a Patrick Bailey strikeout. Prior to leaving, Schmitt went 0-for-1 at the plate with the hit-by-pitch. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Alvarez (1-0) earned the win Monday against the Marlins, allowing one hit and two walks in five scoreless innings. He struck out four.

It was a dazzling major-league debut for Alvarez, who kept the Marlins off balance while inducing seven groundouts. Although it was a highly promising first big-league appearance, the rookie left-hander does have a lackluster 4.10 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 114:52 K:BB over 123 innings for Triple-A Rochester in 2025. The hurler's impressive showing coupled with the injury to MacKenzie Gore (shoulder) certainly have Alvarez's fantasy stock on the rise, though a test against the Cubs at Wrigley Field awaits Alvarez this weekend.

Arizona recalled Barrosa from Triple-A Reno on Monday.

The Diamondbacks optioned Barrosa to Reno on Aug. 18, but after a two-week stay in the minors, he'll link back up with Arizona as its active roster expands to 28 men for September. Barrosa has previously played in 15 games with the big club this season, hitting .111 with an 0:10 BB:K in 38 plate appearances. He doesn't project to see steady playing time while he's up in the majors.

The Diamondbacks activated Thompson (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Monday.

Thompson has been shelved since early July with a right scapular strain but is ready to go after making a pair of scoreless rehab appearances with Triple-A Reno. The 33-year-old could be in the mix for saves as part of an unsettled Diamondbacks bullpen.

Manaea took a no-decision Monday against the Tigers, allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk in 3.2 innings. He struck out six.

After opening his season with a 2.08 ERA through his first four starts, Manaea simply hasn't been able to get himself back on track. The veteran southpaw has yielded at least four runs in five of his last six outings, and he's still yet to pitch at least six frames in any appearance so far in 2025. Although Manaea owns a strong 59:9 K:BB over 45 innings, his 5.60 ERA makes him a risky fantasy starter for his next scheduled start against the first-place Phillies.
