  • Luis Garcia 1B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Lifts early homer in win

Garcia went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Giants.

Garcia got the scoring started with a first-inning blast, and the Nationals never looked back. He's slugged three long balls over his last five games, a span in which he's gone 5-for-18 (.278). For the season, he is hitting .262 with a .749 OPS, eight homers, 40 RBI, 25 runs scored and two stolen bases over 62 contests. He's halfway to matching his homer total from 139 games a year ago.

  • Andrew Alvarez SP | WAS

Nationals' Andrew Alvarez: Walks five in no-decision

Alvarez allowed two runs on five hits and five walks while striking out four over four-plus innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Tuesday.

Alvarez had displayed fairly good control in his first six appearances this season, but he didn't deliver in that area Tuesday. Luckily for him, the Giants' offense didn't capitalize much against him -- the two runs on his line came when Brad Lord allowed both inherited runners to score in the fifth inning. Alvarez is now at a 3.70 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 26:11 K:BB across 24.1 innings over seven appearances (two starts) in the majors this season. Maintaining his control will be critical for Alvarez to keep a spot in the rotation. His next start is tentatively projected to be at home versus the Royals.

  • Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Two doubles in three-hit game

Mitchell went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Athletics.

Mitchell didn't get in on the fun in Monday's slugfest, going 0-for-6 with three strikeouts. He bounced back with his third multi-hit effort of the month Tuesday. The outfielder is hitting .346 (9-for-26) over seven games in June, lifting his average to .247 for the season. Mitchell has added a .758 OPS, three home runs, six stolen bases, 31 RBI, 26 runs scored, 12 doubles and two triples through 56 contests. He continues to hold down the strong side of a platoon in center field, though he had started against southpaws in the two games prior to Tuesday's matchup against righty J.T. Ginn.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Early homer in loss

Chourio went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Athletics.

Chourio's blast opened the scoring in the top of the first inning, but the Athletics had more power as the game went on. The outfielder has hit well to start June, going 15-for-39 (.385) over his first nine games this month. Overall, he's batting .301 with an .852 OPS, five homers, 19 RBI, 23 runs scored, five stolen bases and 11 doubles across 31 contests this season.

  • Robert Gasser SP | MIL

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Lit up for six runs

Gasser (0-3) allowed six runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out seven over five innings to take the loss versus the Athletics on Tuesday.

The hitter-friendly Las Vegas Ballpark has lived up to its reputation in the first two games of this series. Gasser gave up all six runs he allowed on four home runs, and the Brewers weren't able to bail him out. Through four starts this season, Gasser has had mixed results at best. He's posted a 6.38 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 19:9 K:BB while allowing six homers across 18.1 innings. The bottom half of Milwaukee's rotation is still in flux, so it's not obvious when Gasser will make his next appearance, especially since the team has off days Thursday and Monday.

  • Edouard Julien 2B | COL

Rockies' Edouard Julien: Knocks in three

Julien went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Cubs.

Julien has been in the lineup for most matchups against righties across the last two weeks and in nine of Colorado's last 11 games overall. He's gone 8-for-26 with five RBI and six runs scored in that span. In Tuesday's win, Julien delivered an RBI double in the second inning and knocked in two with a single one frame later.

  • Brenton Doyle CF | COL

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Still no baseball activity

Doyle (oblique) has yet to resume baseball activity, MLB.com reports.

Doyle is feeling no pain in his oblique when doing everyday activities, but he apparently isn't feeling well enough to make meaningful progress toward a return. He does not have a targeted return date, but late June looks to be the best-case scenario.

  • Jordan Beck LF | COL

    Rockies' Jordan Beck: Resumes throwing

Beck (hamstring) has resumed throwing on the field, MLB.com reports.

Beck has been cleared to run and throw, but he has no additional activity scheduled beyond that. His timeline for a return remains unclear.

  • Grant Holmes SP | ATL

Braves' Grant Holmes: Takes no-decision in short start

Holmes did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the White Sox, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two over 3.2 innings.

Holmes turned in his shortest start of the season Tuesday, as the right-hander surrendered a two-run homer to Miguel Vargas in the third inning before allowing another run to score in the fourth. After that run crossed the plate, Holmes loaded the bases and was lifted before he could escape the jam. While the abbreviated outing was disappointing, Holmes has done a decent job limiting damage this season, holding opponents to three or fewer runs in 12 of his 13 starts. He now owns a 4.05 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 59:29 K:BB across 66.2 innings and is lined up to face the Mets in his next start.

  • Mickey Moniak LF | COL

Rockies' Mickey Moniak: No change of directon

Moniak (ankle) has not begun testing his ability to change direction while running, MLB.com reports.

The positive news is that Moniak has resumed hitting and throwing, while also doing some running. However, he has not been scheduled to test his ability to change direction, meaning he is still some time away from returning.
