Marquez (biceps) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Marquez was placed on the injured list July 23, but he has made relatively quick progress since. Manager Warren Schaeffer has already stated that Marquez will need a rehab assignment, so he may not be able to return until late August.

King (shoulder) yielded six runs on four hits, one walk and one hit batsman over 3.1 innings in his first rehab start with Triple-A El Paso on Sunday. He struck out five batters.

King served up a pair of home runs and needed 61 pitches to cover his 3.1 frames. He averaged 92.2 miles per hour with his sinker and 92.7 mph with his four-seamer in the outing, which were both down a bit from his season averages. Some rust from King is not a surprise, as he was making his first game appearance since May 18 as he comes back from a pinched thoracic nerve in his right shoulder. Getting stretched out to 61 pitches means King could require just one more rehab start before coming off the 60-day injured list and rejoining the Padres rotation in mid-August.

Freeman went 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored and a stolen base Sunday against the Pirates.

Freeman helped manufacture Colorado's first run of the game with a single and stolen base before coming around to score. He now has 13 stolen bases on the season, though this was his first successful attempt in his last 19 starts. Freeman also has at least one hit in each of his last six starts.

Sears is slated to start Monday's game against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

Sears will be making his team debut this week after he was acquired along with right-hander Mason Miller on Thursday in a deal that sent four prospects to the Athletics. The 29-year-old southpaw had been a mainstay in the Athletics rotation this season but hadn't been especially effective, turning in a 4.95 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and a 14.4 K-BB% across 111 innings. With historically pitcher-friendly Petco Park as his home park, Sears could show some improvement with his numbers, as he had posted a 5.48 ERA and .387 wOBA over his 47.2 innings in the less forgiving confines of Sacramento's Sutter Health Park. Sears may need to get off to a strong start to his tenure with the Padres to ensure he sticks in the rotation for the rest of the season, as he or fellow trade-deadline pickup Nestor Cortes would seemingly be most at risk of moving to the bullpen once San Diego gets Michael King (shoulder) back from the injured list.

Moniak went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run Sunday against the Pirates.

Moniak was the first of three consecutive Rockies to go yard in the sixth inning. That was his 17th home run of the season and fourth in 14 games since the All-Star break. Moniak has much better production at home this season, and he enjoyed a strong start to the current homestand by going 5-for-15 with three RBI and three runs scored across three games against the Pirates.

Goodman went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Sunday against the Pirates.

The Rockies hit three consecutive homers in the sixth inning, with Goodman the last to go yard. He now has 21 home runs on the season, four of which have come in 12 starts since the All-Star break. While the majority of that production has come at home, Goodman has hit better overall on the road this season, setting him up for a productive close to the campaign.

The Reds optioned Richardson to Triple-A Louisville on Monday.

Cincinnati and Atlanta were granted a 27th player on the active roster Sunday during the completion of the suspended Speedway Classic game, and Richardson filled that role for the Reds. The righty struck out three over two scoreless innings Sunday and will now rejoin Louisville's bullpen.

Shugart (knee) began a rehab assignment with Single-A Bradenton on Sunday, MLB.com reports.

Shugart has been sidelined since early July and resumed throwing a couple of weeks ago. He should be able to return relatively quickly and could immediately serve in a high-leverage role.

Gonzales went 4-for-5 with a double, a run scored and an RBI on Sunday against the Rockies.

Gonzales took advantage of a weekend series at Coors Field, with Sunday marking his second four-hit performance in the three-game set. He had a successful road trip in general, hitting .414 with four runs scored across six games, albeit with only two extra-base hits.

Pham went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run Sunday against the Rockies.

Pham went deep in the first inning to record his fifth home run of the season. The performance also extended his hitting streak to 11 games, during which he has hit .395 with one home run, six RBI and eight runs scored. While it was a surprise that Pham remained with the Pirates through the trade deadline, he should be set for regular playing time in the outfield to close the campaign.
