Wade will start at second base and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

Wade will crack the starting nine for the first time since June 25 while Jose Iglesias takes a seat after occupying the keystone in the Padres' previous two contests. For the season, Wade has mustered a .210/.314/.257 line over 125 plate appearances, and he'll likely continue to see limited use in a utility role unless the San Diego infield or outfield gets decimated by injuries.

Iglesias is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

Iglesias had picked up starts in each of the last four games -- two against right-handed pitchers and two against lefties -- but he'll hit the bench Wednesday as the Padres open up the keystone for Tyler Wade. Though he seems to have temporarily secured a near-everyday role in the San Diego infield, Iglesias will likely be the odd man out of the regular lineup if the Padres acquire Atlanta designated hitter Marcell Ozuna -- or another position player, for that matter -- prior to the July 31 deadline. Talks between San Diego and Atlanta are reportedly intensifying, according to Hector Gomez of Z101Digital.com.

Maldonado is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

Maldonado will get some rest for Wednesday's day game after he started behind the plate in the first two games of the series while going 2-for-6 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and a run. Elias Diaz will handle catching duties in the series finale.

Adams is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Reds.

Adams went 1-for-3 with two RBI while starting at catcher in Tuesday night's 6-1 win, so he'll get some rest for Wednesday's matinee contest. Drew Millas will fill in behind the dish and bat eighth as the Nationals go for the sweep.

Lile is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Reds.

The left-handed-hitting Lile will get a day off as the Reds send southpaw Nick Lodolo to the bump. Alex Call will take over in right field and bat fifth for the Nationals.

Bell is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Reds.

Bell hit home runs in both of the first two games of the series and sports a 1.018 OPS so far in July, but he will receive a routine day off in Wednesday's matinee. Amed Rosario will fill in at designated hitter and bat third in the series finale.

Stephenson is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Nationals.

Stephenson was the Reds' catcher for Tuesday night's 6-1 loss, so it's not a surprise he's getting a breather in Wednesday's matinee. Jose Trevino will be behind the dish and bat seventh as Cincinnati tries to avoid the sweep.

McLain is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Nationals.

McLain will get a well-earned rest day after he had started every game for the Reds since June 3. Gavin Lux will play second base and occupy the No. 2 spot in the lineup in McLain's stead.

Steer is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Steer has been nursing a sore quadriceps in recent days, but his absence from the lineup Wednesday appears to be more of a maintenance day with the Reds wrapping up their series in Washington with a day game after a night game. Santiago Espinal will step in at first base in place of Steer, who had started each of the Reds' previous 15 contests.

Atlanta recalled Stratton from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.

Stratton was acquired from the Pirates in a trade earlier this month and will be making his debut for Atlanta when he gets into a game. The righty has permitted seven earned runs in 2.2 innings at the major-league level in 2025.
